Soundboard 9.6 - A legendary, and I mean indispensable recording of the mighty Zep in their prime. This particular version of this well-traveled show is actually a matrix of the newly surfaced soundboard and the excellent audience tape. How sweet it is! (Second night 9-29-71) -
Audience 7.4 - A little cluttered in the middle, volume pushed to max – but not that bad and quite historical given the fact it’s the first show in Osaka which was a legendary stand of concerts back in ’71. (first night 9-28-71) -

Audience 8.6 - A very decent recording that may be slightly distant but is real clear and not boomy, rather there is a pretty inviting bottom end and sharp highs – it’s the middle frequency that is not as present which is not generally the case. The taper is in the brawling midst of the action on the floor and you really do feel a part of their excitement during the concert. I would say this is kind of immersive in that sense, and not annoyingly so either. A fun tape, I was sucked into it at times and could not extract myself. Audience 8.7 - A show I remember listening to as a teenager having bought the 3LP bootleg which was referred to as Offenbach. This sounds pretty close to that boot, maybe a touch better coming from a tape source, which means it’s pretty decent. Audience 8.6 - A new tape to circulation and a most welcomed one. It’s certainly quite different and for Zep collectors will be analyzed incessantly and be shown as a “keeper” for many reasons. Sound quality is a little hissy but surprisingly clear and without mud. Dynamically it’s not going to shatter any records but let me tell you for what this is, it offers a fascinating window into a hard-working touring band making yet another tour stop in some out of the way, random Scandinavian town nobody has ever heard of. Audience 8.1 - A very decent and clear recording from maybe midway back of the hall. Show is fantastic, and the recording sufficiently documents this event. -
Audience 7.5 - Could be a low generation tape for this source. Some minor phasing issues but pretty clear though; Band is in fine form. -
Audience 7.8 - Bonham is the star of this show, he sounds great. The recording, while not offering too much in the way of dynamics, does present enough separation of instruments to appreciate the performance. -

Audience 8.6 - A fantastic early recording of the band during their summer rock festival circuit tour. These are some of their most fiery performances, playing in front of huge festival crowds where there is palpable kinetic energy, and this show really delivers! At times, taper seems to move to different spots and so the sound occasionally fades but then comes back strong again. -
Audience 6.9 - This tape is not a lost cause, although it is subdued and a touch muddy, you get enough in this to still appreciate the bands fury at this time in their career. -
Soundboard 9.8 - This is a new phenomenon in the modern era of bootlegs. The producers have taken the soundboard from this legendary show and given it an AI powered multi-band compression re-mastering and it’s night and day. Not only that but also a meticulous editing to present what SHOULD have been officially released to the public and if I were Jimmy, well, I would steal this and package it and sell it ha ha! Soundboard 9.8 - You can’t do much better than these, mainly because the board tape itself is full of life and expertly mixed in contrast to other more sterile boards. The other is because the band is firing on all cylinders, and taking improvisation to dizzying heights as evidence by the No Quarter, Dazed and Confused marathon improve sections. -
Audience 8.5 - Great atmosphere on this one, and the capture is solid if just a touch of high end break up that I found did not annoy me or detract at all. You might detect it more the louder you play this, but the levels here are pretty high as it is so it sounds loud even if you don’t have it turned up high. It’s a great show. Get it! -
Audience 8.8 - Good solid tape, very nice atmosphere and kind of cool to hear the audience’s pleasant cheering when a song begins. A wonderful tape. -
Audience 7.9 - A very bright, brassy tape. Kind of really captures the “realness” of the live PA sound at the gig. Very much one of those recordings that puts you at the show. -
Audience 7.4 - A rowdy audience, kind of distant sound, a little murky but you can tell what is going on. You can even hear each instrument, so it is not THAT bad. Tapers do get a bit carried away at times. The show is brilliant, the band is just killing it. -
Both Shows: Early Show - Audience 7.2 - The lesser of the two shows, but the performance is strong, you’ll know they mean business after the first 30 seconds of Immigrant Song! Late Show - Audience 7.7 - Several notches cleaner and stronger than the early show, but both are worth your time. -
Audience 8.6 - This is what I would consider a must have. The recording progressively gets better, the show does too. The show! Man oh man! This is what collecting Zep is all about. Get this! -
Audience 8.8 - What is a rating anyway? When it comes to a gig like this, it’s almost irrelevant. Look, just get this and you will know what I mean. Even the band would probably direct you to grab this one. -

Audience 8.1 - I was expecting the worst when I became aware of this recently surfaced show, but to my surprise it isn’t all that bad. It’s lacking some depth and low end but it is clear, and close, and shows some detail. It’s a fine recording, and if you have a subwoofer, well there ya go. -
Audience 8.4 - An incredibly loud tape, bordering on catastrophe but not quite going over the red line of doom. What I mean is, the tape is just way overloaded, but it hangs together miraculously just enough to be able go ahead and listen through…although at times it’s so intense you just have to turn the volume down a bit. Now, when you get to, say, The Rain Song – yeah, the tape shines…it’s just that kind of tape. NOTE: After the tape flip in Rain Song, the taper seems to have been able to dial down the recording level a little bit, it seems to get a little more manageable. Soundboard 9.1 - This is not a bad board tape, leans just a touch maybe on the more trebly side, giving bass the title of “second guitar” I guess. Still, it’s not a static board, it’s very exciting. Audience 7.5 - This sounds a lot better than the old cassette I had for decades. Not nearly as distorted as I remember it being. This is actually not that bad. -
Audience 7.5 - Sounds like this was remastered because there’s a lot more music now to sink your teeth into. Is it great? No, it’s average with a welcomed lean towards upper mid-range allowing for guitars to be prominent and even bass is heard, as if it was a second guitar almost. A good one for 1977 tour completists because quite frankly the band is really playing well here. -
Audience 9.7 - The question you might ask is “do I really need another version of this?” and the short answer is “Hell Yes”. Why? Because technology has advanced to the point where you can take multiple sound sources (in this case four) and merge or “matrix” them together seamlessly to create a sonic tapestry so good it takes your breath away. That is what this is…breathtaking. Audience 7.1 - A tad clearer than the night before, a great show here too. Worth listening to! -
Audience 6.9 - Not the best in dynamics and collectors regret that because it’s such a good show. But that being said, it is also not the absolute worst tape either. (8-21-71) -
Audience 7.5 - This tape is not nearly as bad as what it used to sound like before we had high end re-mastering tools. So, it’s got some noise issues that kind of keep it from really opening up but the amazing thing now is you really can hear the whole band, and Jimmy is just on fire. Collectors really praise the band performance from this show, and it is obviously much improved now, so yeah, I recommend it. (3-27-70) -
Soundboard 8.8 - This is Bonzo’s show, even with the mix. I love the drum sound on this tape. -
Audience 7.8 - Exciting show, recording features a strong guitar, clear vocals, bass and drums present but not as bold. All in all, it’s quite good and the show is fierce. -

Audience 8.6 - Very similar to Nagoya 72 but less distortion present, it’s surprisingly clear, it’s highly enjoyable and the band just played terrific on this Japanese tour. Really worth having! -
Audience 9.0 - This is a brilliant live document, captured during Zep’s “Back To The Clubs” Tour of 1971. A sort of intimate atmosphere and a very jovial and chatty Robert Plant. The band sounds loose and genuinely having a great time. -
Audience 9.8 - It’s hard to find anything that is quite as marvelous as this…seriously. You can take all your pristine board tapes and none of them come close to capturing the essence of Led Zeppelin on stage in front of an audience. This is simply a MUST HAVE no matter how many shows you have in the collection (certainly you already have this anyway) but get this one again because it’s been recently transferred from the original cassette masters and given the treatment. This could easily come out officially. BRILLIANT!!! Audience and Soundboard - The Audience portion is about a 7.2 with a very strained tape trying to contain such an explosive show, but the Soundboard portion is a great relief when it kicks in! Worth getting for that reason, and because the performance is as good as I have ever heard. -
Audience 8.0 - Clear recording, if a little distant sounding. Tape is a little bit hot, but so is the band! An enjoyable experience, not the highest fidelity, but this is a slamming show, and the sound, while a touch thin, is actually very good. -
Audience 8.4 – 8.7 - A tape that has its share of strengths and flaws. The strengths are that at times it is pretty good, maybe comparable to the Raleigh 70 tape, but other times (such as during Dazed and Confused) the tape shows it has flaws due to age and although these aren’t egregious, they are clear and present and do effect the flow of the concert. For example the audio during Dazed has a speed fluctuation problem that is annoying. The problem stays through the next track but clears up after that and the sound improves dramatically. It is here that the tape shows it has considerable value! Yes, a great find after all. Two versions of the show are represented with both being similar, the different being in how each was re-mastered so it is up to the listener really. I liked the first re-master (CD1) personally. Audience 8.3 - A little tape noise present but I think this recording is just fine for the time. It is better than some of the other Japanese shows from the tour. It gets really good during the acoustic section. Also happens to be a power house of a concert. Really a must I think. -
Soundboard 9.1 -Always nice to hear these 1980 shows in this quality. There is something I really like about the later era Zep – a maturity maybe? I don’t know but I think the band really smokes here. Audience 7.4–7.8 - A tape that improves somewhat, still there’s a reason why collector’s all love this show. It’s a real good one from the European leg of the 1970 tour, and the performance is great! -

Audience 7.8 - One of those gigs I am sure the band is glad they have forgotten. Sound quality is not dismal though, the levels of the music are on the low side, and turning the volume up to high reveals more undesired noise than one would care for. That being said, it is clear enough to be able to get each individual on stage and hear them playing a rather uninspired set. For completists only, unless you just want to hear a bad Zeppelin gig.
