Radio Broadcast 8.8 - This tape sounds a bit old and word but the music that it contains is pretty well “out there” and I can only imagine how many trips have been taken with this band playing in the background in the late 60’s. Audience 9.4 - If you can’t get into this rollicking, electric southern fried punk and roll then you aren’t alive. This kicks total ass! Great sound quality and great atmosphere combined with a band that was unfairly ignored by the media at a time when new music and new attitudes were flourishing. Audience 8.7 - Pretty decent with the only gripe being a lack of stereo sound separation but don’t let that deter you. This is a decent, powerful recording. -

Audience 8.4 - A lo-fi but pretty decent and clear recording. I would not expect there to be many high-end live tapes floating around due to the fact that most people probably did not know who this guy was. Collectors will appreciate having this, a very uncommon thing and worthy of investigation. Audience 8.5 - Solid punch but maybe some lack of clarity in the lower mid to low end, although for some reason the bass kick is clear. It’s nice to have something from this early on in pretty decent fidelity though, so I have to recommend this one. It’s nice! -
Audience 8.1 - Some of the bite is removed on this recording. The highs are leveled off completely it seems. I mean, the sound is all there, if a touch centered in the mids, but you will find yourself wishing for the crash and dazzle. Still, it is listenable and worthy. -
Audience 8.8 - I am very thankful this recording exists, so few tapes from around this time that are clean and audible. Now, it gets off to a bumpy start but smoothes out and remains consistent for the duration. It’s taken from I would say the middle of the venue but does not suffer from typical distance recordings. The main P.A. system is strong, so you get a good signal here, all instruments present and accounted for. Vocals remain very much up front in the mix, guitars follow. All in all this is really outstanding and the time period is optimal. You won’t get the depth of bass here, and sometimes you realize how dated a recording has to be if it originates off AM radio…but you listen anyway because it’s still good, and it’s still Wishbone Ash. Audience 9.1 - A very very nice taping effort, captured here with very decent gear so the quality speaks for itself. Position of taper is good, so a nice mix of the sound from the PA, all in all it’s a good one and highly recommended. There is another Wings LA Forum 1976 but it's taken from June 22 with some filler from the 23rd whereas this is the complete June 23rd show. Audience 9.0/8.5/8.7 - All four discs are very good source tapes with the first two discs being the strongest with a sound quality that sits nicely on the ears, very comfortable, albeit slightly further back in the hall than the other two discs. I think the other shows maybe feature a louder, more up front guitar sound, but at the same time are also a bit more crowded in that frequency although at no time is there distortion present. Disc 3 suffers from a little bit of the typical big sound onto little cassette recorder where it’s just not as clear as you wish but at least you can hear what is going on, and it is not what I would call muddy sounding. Disc 4 is decent in the fact that you have a clear guitar, tone is audible which is crucial when you are listening to Leslie West. All instruments audible and distinct but not rising much above a middle to upper 8 rating. All in all, I am pleased at the overall sound quality in this set seeing as how there are not many really high quality audios of this band. Studio Recording - This is actually a recent album (digital download only) of a band that first formed in Germany in 1969, and I knew absolutely nothing about them. Turns out they are really good! Their stock in trade is playing familiar progressive 70’s rock arrangements with the same vintage equipment used in their 70’s prime, but recording with modern facilities to get a full, powerful sound. I would say mission accomplished because this is quite good, and not only good but the fact that some of their older material is here in a reworked fashion that does it justice...which is kinda rare to find these days. Audience 8.2 - Drums and vocals present, rhythm section just behind them but the recording is not suffering from typical large hall boominess or distortion so it offers a reasonable enjoyment factor to these ears. -
Studio 8.7 - A little sonic degradation to these professional studio demos (the bonus tracks are abbreviated probably due to legal reasons at the time they were recorded). Some of the tracks are better quality, but the worst are still very good, just maybe a little loss of clarity and fidelity but nothing major. You’ll enjoy this if you are a fan. -
Audience 8.9 - A slight improvement over the 1st night recording, but only by the narrowest margin. I do hear more keys, but they tend to “blast” a bit here. Audience 8.8 - A very decent recording for the vintage. Small club atmosphere permeates which gives this recording the legendary status it deserves.
