• Audience 8.7 - A rip-roaring blast of a tape! First thing you are going to think after maybe 1 minute is how dejected Montrose and Journey must have been after following the ascending Van Halen. Man, I felt bad for them and this show happened decades ago!  It’s just the sonic equivalent of a shooting star, Eddie is blistering and hits every note with perfection, the bass is detailed and not just a booming thud, drums are OK and DLR is a little behind the band but who cares?  The taper did a fine job, some minor hiccups every now and then but thankfully very few to deal with and they don’t last long. I am liking this show and the tape is just fine for its age. A keeper! Van Halen Tower Theater Upper Darby, Pennsylvania March 24, 1978 1. On Fire 2. I’m The One 3. Bass Solo 4. • Audience 8.8 - Very clear and with enough dynamics present to really provide an authentic experience of virtually being there. These kinds of recordings, while technically not considered as excellent (unfairly) due to the measurable fidelity of the audio (in the objective sense) are actually excellent in their own right. This is a well done recording, with the sound “floating” above you and giving you a sense of time and place, of literally being there. • Audience 8.3 - What is happening with this tape is that the bass frequencies are too much for the microphone, and it causes some peaking (not pure distortion, just level peak). On the plus side, it’s relatively open in all the other frequencies, meaning you can actually listen to this show and once your ears sort of adjust to the limitations, it’s not that bad. I would still call this one for hardcore collectors only though, even when there is a shortage of 1979 tapes. On a personal note, I listened to the entire show and liked it, I think it has a place in the collection. Van Halen Northlands Coliseum Edmonton, AB, Canada September 18, 1979 Disc 1 1. • Soundboard 9.2 - A warm sounding tape, very punchy where it needs to be, maybe if I can complain about anything it would be in the relative sterility of it but that’s a soundboard’s Achilles heel isn’t it ? I’d recommend this to anyone, it is what we like to call “a keeper” for sure! • Audience 8.9 - Very lively, great atmosphere! Sound is very very good, and the mix that gets to your ears includes everything happening on stage but what I really love is the sound of the drums. Fills the arena yet is pretty tight, with that slight bouncing off the walls effect that gives an almost 360 degree experience. • Soundboard 8.9 - Always nice to have these, the rarest of things, a great sounding Iron Maiden show from the early days. Bass is slamming on this one, you hear every note! • Audience 8.6 - This is just fascinating. They could have easily billed this show as “The Aerosmith Blues Band” or something because they really were all about playing gritty blues and rock. The guitar work is cleaner and very articulate, it’s quite a revelation to hear them when they were really so conscience of the music, the notes, and not the glam.  I was impressed with the sound quality too, this is a certain keeper! • Audience 8.1 - Not only is this incredibly important in the Maiden’s history but it’s also very listenable too. That is gotta qualify as a rarity!  The band is on another level, I am 100% sure that this gig was important for all of them especially for Bruce being it was his first gig with them. • Audience 8.7 - A tape that finds balance even with the somewhat squashed sound, because it is pretty clear regardless. Fills a lot of gaps in my Alice Cooper collection as these Lace And Whiskey tour shows seem few and far between compared to other tours.
  • FM Broadcast 8.8 - A terrific slice of power pop played by perhaps the best ever in the genre. All the songs are killer - no filler, a band at the height of their powers.
  • PRO STUDIO 9.3 - One of the best I have come across, a great selection of tracks and some I’d never heard before. Excellent!
  • Soundboard 9.0 - Excellent and rare document of an amazing band at an amazing time of their career.…simply put this is an absolute must have!
  • Audience 7.4 - 8.3 - Don’t let the ratings dissuade you from this one – for one thing, the material is all remastered and sounding as good as possible, which in most cases you will find it sounds better than most of the mid 70’s Top audience tapes out there. The never before circulated 1969 material sounds particularly good, in fact you might be quite astonished at how good it is.
  • Soundboard 9.8 - Exceptional sound and performance make this not only a must have, but a desert island disc!
  • Audience 9.3 - One of those “must have” titles that is quite necessary for any serious Pink Floyd collector. While this recording is not perfect, it does have exceptional atmosphere and each instrument is distinct. The overall timbre of the recording is in the mid range, and sometimes at full volume there’s just a touch of overcrowding but there are what I call “the intangibles” of what makes a recording rate 9.0 or higher and this tape has them.
  • Soundboard 9.6 - A legendary, and I mean indispensable recording of the mighty Zep in their prime. This particular version of this well-traveled show is actually a matrix of the newly surfaced soundboard and the excellent audience tape. How sweet it is! (Second night 9-29-71)
  • Soundboard 9.5 - Magnifique! Love the cool panning during Dazed.
  • Audience 8.7 to 9.0 (range) - All pretty darn good. Classic early Kiss, and very interesting at times especially when they do the groove rock numbers. Wish they did that more.
  • Audience 8.6 - Fantastic audience recording, feels like you are right there! My favorite kind of live tape, a solid 8.6 in sound, atmosphere, energy. More like this please!
  • Pro Made non factory pressed compact discs housed in 2 pocket gate fold jacket with full laser printed graphics front, back, inside, discs, and spine.
  • Heavy, rural psyche that features pretty acid influenced guitar (putting it mildly) stoned, psychedelic lyrics with an Eastern mysticism pervading. Effects include conch shell through echoplex (yup), flutes, walls of feedback, sort of what you might get if you mixed Ya-Ho-Wa 13 with Tangerine Dream, Loch Ness, Hendrix, and Amon Duul. Out There!
  • Dallas based Christian proto-metal band that recorded loads of material and performed live but never actually released anything to the public. Two discs worth of master quality studio demos, and live, tracks. Very competent band that were obviously heavily influenced by the NWOBHM groups especially Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and maybe a healthy dose of classics like Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash with the dual guitar action a lot of the songs feature. Top shelf!
  • Released on vinyl, this features excellent multi-layered guitar, ripping bass and drum work, and Ian Gillan inspired vocals with dark, haunting, somewhat blues-tinged hard rock songs. Recorded in Rosenberg, TX. only a single 45 rpm was released, but the tracks on the 7" were from a previous demo recording done in 1974. This and much more is featured on the CD version, where you can hear for yourself why the world should have heard of the name Ottis Coleman, but hopefully now they will get the chance. For fans of Trapeze, Deep Purple.
  • Hard driving Dallas rock band that worked all the clubs back in the day (1972-1975) before changing their name to Brat and slowly moving into a different direction. Featuring the guitar pyrotechnics of Dickey Ferguson, who found a measure of success much later during his stint in US Kids.
  • From the ashes of the Moving Sidewalks, former members Tom Moore and Dan Mitchell decided to carry on playing the blues once Billy Gibbons formed ZZ Top and was doing straight up Texas style blues rock. Featuring Hammond B3 organ, the band had a different approach to blues rock but executed with the same kind of unique Texas panache. A single 7" was released but the band recorded quite a bit of material which never saw the light of day. This CD gathers most of those recordings along with a disc full of rare live tracks, of which include Ottis Coleman (Honest John, 1900 Storm, Texas Blend) replacing Tom Moore and Dusty Wakeman (bass) who also happened to be in The Barons and engineered the Honest John album in 1975.
  • SDBRD 9.8  - Almost absolutely perfect, like you get both guitars in their own space so you can hear what each player is doing perfectly. This is how I prefer to listen to ACDC!
