• Soundboard  9.4 - What I find most appealing about this show is the mix, and how they do not bury the guitar which is what you might normally assume given the type of “top 40” music Annie wrote at the time. You will be pleasantly surprised to hear the guitar front and center, and actually pretty grungy sounding.
  • Soundboard  9.6 - Amazing!

  • Audience  8.7 - A strong and intense recording with a percussive tilt to it, so you get a very present and crisp drums and percussion. Everything else is also pretty clear but I would have liked guitars more up front but they are fine. This period of the band is exciting and intense, so if you love your progressive jazz hard rock played with fire and intensity that sometimes is off the charts this band is for you.
  • Audience  8.3 - This recording captures a medium to large hall atmosphere from maybe middle rows and is quite good under those circumstances. It actually lends a cool vibe to the show, despite that naturally huge reverb going on. Oh, if you are unfamiliar with them, here’s the deal: GREAT hard and heavy jazz rock leaning towards rock with a very quirky singer. Once you get used to him, you are LOVING this band.
  • Audience  8.8 - A very direct and punchy recording that delivers the music straight into your ears without passing through any air. As if you are sitting in front of the speaker as they play, nobody in front of you. It makes for a cool experience to hear this super intense band so intimately.
  • Audience  8.3 - Some tinny highs but a good defined bass, so a complete sound spectrum present although I might roll off the highs and boost my mids for better listening.
  • Audience  8.6 - A little bit thin as far as this recording goes in that it could use a little more bottom end but that is not a deal breaker because it is not a “shrill” thin, just could use more lows. That being said, there’s a lot to chew on with this show. Great performance, good quality, so just be aware the singer requires some getting used to!  Have fun.
  • Audience  8.9 - Very strong, clear, and dynamic recording.
  • Pro recordings  9.4 - Totally excellent.
  • Soundboard 9.1 - Recorded and broadcast this is as expected a very good recording. The music is also… let’s face it these guys were top shelf and had a classy approach to heavy metal. • Audience 8.8 - This show finally comes to light after decades and it’s surprisingly good. It’s extremely insistent and powerful sounding with guitars really up front and vocals thankfully pretty nicely mixed in as well. In fact, even drums here sound nicely integrated into the live sound mix in this small sounding venue. I rather like this one and you will too. Armored Saint Sherwood's Indianapolis, IN. • Audience 9.3 - Taken from master tape, this is super clean, vibrant, and detailed – as an Italian prog recording ought to be.  These guys cover a wide range of sound and style all keeping within that certain ethos of grandiose, elegant Italian rock (can get frenetic at times, complex, gentle, ethnic, it's all that and more). • Audience  7.8 - Similar to the Bruxelles show but the sound field opens up more on this and the highs, while maybe slightly crispy, are a plus as they give some definition to the music.
  • Aud 7.6 - decent all around without a lot of dynamics but strong
  • All Soundboard - All Excellent  (4 Shows)
  • Audience  8.3-8.7 - What starts out sounding kind of boomy, slowly starts to turn into a very good and powerful recording as if the taper started on one side (bass) and moved to the middle…either that or the sound man finally got it right. Either way this will surely please!
  • Audience  7.8 - Both shows roughly the same with enough differences to say one has qualities the other doesn’t have and vice versa. So whereas in one show you might get more definition on guitar, the other will have more vocal presence and a slightly better rhythm section. Take your pick, two vintage Atomic Rooster gigs hardly a losing proposition.
  • Dallas, TX. based hard rock/jazz fusion group heavily influenced by Jean Luc Ponty and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Enjoyed a brief but fruitful life span between the years 1975 and 1977, and having at least two significant line-up changes. Bassist Roy Vogt would later go on to find much success touring with legendary singer Englebert Humperdinck and teaching and recording many compositions in Nashville, most notably with guitarist extraordinaire Stan Lassiter.
  • Soundboard 8.6 - This sounds VERY 80’s, I mean, it sounds pretty dated…but good quality. I guess they were not too bad, kind of simplistic maybe in a Twisted Sister kind of way, but the guitarist pulls out some tasty solos. • Recorded live at Max's Kansas City in NYC 1979. This is an import CD. Jewel Case new never played.
  • Soundboard  9.5 - Mixed for official release, but sadly it was withdrawn from the market and is now hopelessly out of print.
  • Audience  8.5 - Nothing much to complain about here. A good and very “live” sounding tape. Gives you the atmosphere which, if done properly, adds much to the tape.
  • CD 1 - Brisbane - Audience  7.8  (a little bit flat maybe but it is clear enough you hear the whole band, still enjoyable nonetheless) CD 2 - Lancaster - Audience  8.6  (a great recording here)
  • Audience  7.6 - I wish this sounded better because it’s one of the few recordings capturing that rare moment when they are joined by the Zeppers. So, yeah, a little rough with the loudness and all, but important in a historical sense.
  • Soundboard  9.4 - Brilliant!
  • Audience  9.2 - KANSAS opened up for BAD COMPANY on this exciting night in 1976. We have that show listed as well.
  • Stoke 1974 Audience 8.4 - A loud tape with a touch of stadium boom, but not anything that approaches irritation. It sounds like it’s in stereo, I hear guitar in one channel and bass in the other which is kinda cool. The instruments are all clearly discernible here making for a tape that sits on the upper side of very good. Tulsa 1975 Audience 8.7 - A tape that has a good, snappy live sound and a pretty good mix for the ears.  The music is delivered to you through a tight mid-range and a snare drum that hovers over everything making it instantly delightful. I rather do like this one! Orange, France 1975 Audience 8.8 - A fine tape, one that really has good separation of instruments, and very decent dynamics. When the guitar solos, the sound seems to glide above you, so that kind of effect and atmosphere puts this show into a category I call “Repeat Listening” because you will go to it again. Amsterdam 1976 Audience 8.8 - Brassy, but enough mid and bottom to smooth that out nicely. A touch of cymbal sizzle but again there’s enough of all other frequencies here that not any one stands out in an annoying fashion. This is a well-balanced tape with some real life in it. • Audience  7.9 - Foot- stomping and LOUD recording! Bristles with energy, the tape can barely contain it but it does. Fun show!
  • Audience  8.4 - This is not the nice and clean Badfinger of FM radio, this is a jamming rock and roll band. Great raw live sound!
  • Audience  6.4 - Very lo-fi and not super clear but it’s a very cool early show.
  • Soundboard 9.1 - The source used for this CD is a DAT tape made from a direct transfer of Joey Molland’s tapes of the show. Whether that means it is the same as what else is out there, I do not know, but it is possible that the radio station did their own recording for broadcast and other releases use the FM broadcast. This is not that!  The sound quality is uneven at times while the levels are adjusted but after that it’s smooth sailing.
  • FM Broadcast 9.2 - A great recording that captures the atmosphere and the thrilling musicianship brightly, if maybe a touch too boldly on the meters…no worries, there’s nothing to interfere with your listening pleasure. The band…did not know much about them but they sure have the chops. I get a little bit of a sort of Whitesnake influence, but not any of the trademark cheesiness. Jake E. Lee is very acrobatic without unnecessary shredding, I would not call his playing shred at all in fact. It’s actually quite tasteful and great use of effects…thrilling at times, and very few dive bombs and when he does it’s in and out, they don’t overstay their welcome. I could say that for the songs too, they all have good balance and set up all the solos nicely. They even cover Purple Haze…umm…maybe they should have left that one alone. But everything else is tops. • All Soundboard 9.3 - This entirely depends on how much you want to hear blazing, inventive lead guitar and don’t mind if the bass sounds more like a rhythm guitar, That is what the bass sounds like to my ears, it’s there, but it’s not “low end” it’s more like a heavy rhythm guitar. It works for this style of rock though – and it’s all good stuff, if maybe a tad generic with the singing. • PRO Radio Broadcast  9.4 - Excellent tight, warm, sweet spot all the way through here! To sound engineers – this is how you record and mix a bass guitar and drums.
  • Audience  9.0 - Both Shows are 9.0 ... Simply gorgeous, lush, well balanced recordings made by people who obviously knew what they were doing. The only knock is maybe a little squishing in the middle during peak volume moments. I wish I could get my hands on any other tapes these guys made! Get this you won’t regret it.
  • Audience  8.8 - Sparkling! There’s a really wonderful, intimate atmosphere permeating this recording, and I don’t mean “hall reverb” either. The warmth of the recording captures the warmth of the artist/audience experience. There’s a bit of chatter present but it’s all part of the deal. Get this one!
