• Audience 7.8 - Wonderful recording if just a touch on the compressed side (maybe FM radio?), still this is lovely!
  • SDBRD 8.8 - Good quality broadcast with some static in places, maybe some old school FM radio compression but nothing that really offends the ears. This is quite good.
  • Audience 8.5 - Recorded by French radio, so you would think maybe soundboard or at least multiple stage mics right?  Naw, this sounds almost like a bootleg, a REALLY good bootleg recording, but the old reel to reel tape shows signs of degredation…still this is quite good with some flaws here and there.
  • CD 1: New Paltz: Soundboard 9.2 CD 2: Stockholm Soundboard 8.9
  • Audience 8.4 - Some tape hiss present, and recorded from maybe midway back in the hall but if you turn up the volume a bit, this actually is very decent quality. Having relatively low recording levels means, essentially, they were conscience of overloading and distortion so they protected against that. You can turn the volume up as loud as you can stand, and it sounds better and better!
  • Boston 1975 - Soundboard 8.7  &  Village Gate, NYC 1975 - Soundboard 9.3
  • Audience 8.7/8.9  - Both recordings are really well done with the clear edge going to the 1975 stuff because it is a little bit more clear, although the synths and moogs and other keys are pushed way out front in the mix which is great because those sounds are otherworldly and mega heavy! A spot of mic dropout can be heard and it could easily have been edited out but it’s kept on the there but thankfully lasts only 2 seconds…otherwise what a show this is!  Fantastic and mind blowing! Audience 9.1 - Truly an immersive listening experience, literally you are in the crowd close to the stage but the sound is probably better than what your ears were hearing at the show simply because massive volume tends to ruin your ability to decipher anything remotely close to “music”. This tape allows you to hear the actual music, and mayhem too! Sounds like it was a real blast to have been there.
  • Brand New - Sealed  Sound quality on all releases on this label is excellent. Live In New York 1982 & Nashville 1984.
  • Soundboard 9.8 - There would be no reason why a professionally recorded Kraftwerk show should sound anything less than near perfect because let’s face it, unless you are a complete moron, it would be hard to screw up their mix. It’s pretty basic, and because of that what you have here is pretty darn good. Kraftwerk l'Olympia Paris, France February 28th, 1976 Personnel: Ralf Hütter: Minimoog Model D, Vako Orchestron, mixer Karl Bartos: Electronic Percussion Wolfgang Flür: Electronic Percussion, photo-electric light-activated drum cage Florian Schneider-Esleben: ARP Odyssey, Votrax VS-6 "talking typewriter", electronic flute-synth device, mixer Disc 1 1. Tuning & Radioactivity 2. Airwaves 3. The Voice of Energy & Die Sonne, Der Mond, Die Sterne 4. Kometenmelodie 5. Tongebirge & Tanzmusik Disc 2 6. Autobahn 7. Mitternacht Notes on the show: Yet another AMAZING find that's now just come to light. This is a master tape from the France Inter archive of the FULL l'Olympia show! We only had 21 mins from the 'Somewhere in Europe' LP and then 38 mins from a rebroadcast in 2015. This is the complete show from a radio programme called "We're Going Out Tonight" with no radio DJ talking over the music or tuning. Very likely recorded before being broadcast on the radio. Of special note is Florian's use of the Votrax VS-6 "Talking Typewriter" as Karl put it in his memoir for "Die Sonne, Der Mond, Die Sterne."
  • Audience 8.7 - Very clear, and good atmosphere which really helps this music a lot. It seems the music is more dynamic with the sense of excitement the crowd gives. They had a huge following, the audience knows the band’s music very well. The Palalido, Milano, Italy, May 27th 1981. • Audience 9.1 - Exciting and wonderfully clear!
  • Audience 7.8 - Sounds like every bands cassette rehearsals. Clear enough to enjoy.
  • Audience 7.8 - A recent remastering job has brought out much more of the music in this tape. It once circulated for a while in unlistenable quality, which is why you are probably unfamiliar with it. Now, it was rescued from the original reel to reel it was recorded on and spruced up a bit. I can honestly say it is MUCH better! That is all relative of course to the actual sound of this tape – which is average even though it’s clearer than before by far. What is happening is the music is all blended together with only vocals riding over it, to where you get distinct definition on them but everything else is hard to decipher…I mean unless you aren’t counting stadium bass/drum sound. To be completely fair, I listened to most of this show and my ears did adjust, and I started to get more out of it. • Audience 8.0 - You are probably wondering why I am including low rated recordings here, especially Kiss…well you may have a point but here’s the thing: This site is for ALL collectors, and the reason this show is listed here is because it circulated for years in unlistenable quality (below 7.0), but thanks to modern technology it is now listenable. It’s from perhaps one of their best tours, musically speaking, and needed an upgrade so bad!  So, for the casual fan I would say pass, but for the Kiss collector who knows how bad this show sounded and wants to throw away that old CD, I would recommend this 2020 re-master. Still kind of rough but there is now music here instead of an insufferable wall of distortion. I am not 100% sure but I think the big thing about this show among collectors was the inclusion of the song “Move On” to the set list, perhaps only performed this one time. • Audience 8.6 - Fantastic audience recording, feels like you are right there! My favorite kind of live tape, a solid 8.6 in sound, atmosphere, energy. More like this please!
  • Audience 9.3 - I am hesitant to call this a radio broadcast but this obviously was professionally recorded, but the recording might not necessarily be through the board hence “audience” tape. • Audience 7.2 - A little rough and some hiss but it’s alright, it’s all pretty tight, it’s outtasight!
  • Audience 8.7 - Do not be put off by the rating! This is a very strong 8.7 verging closer to 8.8. Why do I stress that?  Because it has a lot going for it, the only black mark I hold against it is due to the lack of distinction between guitars and Paul being pushed back in the sound mix. That being said, it’s more the “mix” of the guitars that leads me to say that, not that you can’t pick each one up. I think I am just being picky though. • Soundboard 8.6 - Very loud and right in your face board tape.
  • PRO STUDIO 9.3 - One of the best I have come across, a great selection of tracks and some I’d never heard before. Excellent!
  • Studio 9.5 - A really detailed, complete set which contains just about everything you ever wanted to hear regarding the pre-Kiss band Wicked Lester. Is it necessary?  I mean, there’s a lot of repetition here, but I have to say it is kind of necessary when you call something complete, you should provide that to the collector and this set does. Quality is great.

  • Audience 8.7 to 9.0 (range) - All pretty darn good. Classic early Kiss, and very interesting at times especially when they do the groove rock numbers. Wish they did that more.
  • Soundboard 8.6 - Very clear, with occasional wow and flutter but the atmosphere is intact and the history is undeniable. A certain must for any Kiss fan!
  • A mix of various sources but I find overall quality to be very good to excellent. In fact, it's strange but there are better sounding tapes from '75 than there are for the following year. You'd think audio quality would get better each subsequent year...alas one only need to listen to most of the 1980's audience tapes to know that is simply not the case. In October of 1973, Bill Aucoin, who had witnessed several KISS concerts during the summer months, approached the group to become their personal manager. KISS hired Aucoin, and subsequently inked a recording contract with Casablanca Records on November 1, 1973. KISS was the first act signed to Neil Bogart's new label. KISS began recording tracks for their debut LP at Bell Sound Studios in New York City during Autumn of '73. On December 31st, KISS performed at the Academy of Music in New York City, opening for Blue Öyster Cult and Iggy Pop, with the hyped New Years Eve gig billed as the band's official industry premiere. This has gone down in KISStory as the first time Gene would accidentally ignite his hair while breathing fire at the end of "Firehouse!" "Dirty Livin'" extended version wasn't very widely known at the time of release, possibly because it was only released in countries like Italy, Germany, France and Mexico. Soundboard 8.6 The board mix favors only one half of the band to the near exclusion of the others but does level out some as it progresses. In this presentation it certainly allows you to understand the contributions of Ace!  The bonus material is all outstanding. This is worth picking up despite the strange board tape because it is extremely early Kiss and these kinds of tapes are very scarce.

  • Audience 8.8 - A solid recording, with just a hint of bass-rattle in the lower extremities but it is not problematic. King's X Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, Irvine, CA March 12, 1994 Band lineup Doug Pinnick - bass, co-lead vocals Ty Tabor - lead guitar, co-lead vocals Jerry Gaskill - drums Total Time = 42:18 Set list 01 Complain (fades in) 02 Black Flag 03 We Were Born To Be Loved 04 Pretend 05 Over My Head 06 Cigarettes 07 Dogman 08 It's Love
  • Audience 7.0 - Decent Audience, a little thin maybe but I rate it 7.0 as it is clear and not distorted and there's some headroom for EQ and boost. It sounds un-mastered to me, but low generation or master tape sourced.
  • Audience 9.3 - Super tight, clean recording from real close. Obviously a taper who knew what to do, and did it. Excellent! • Brand New - Sealed  Sound quality on all releases on this label is excellent.
  • Audience 8.9 - The great thing about this band is that most times a relatively normal tape machine can capture them cleanly and a really good machine captures them gloriously. This is a very good tape, almost approaching a dirty glory. King Crimson Arts Centre Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA September 28, 1973 Disc 1 01. Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part One 02. Bob’s MC 03. • Audience 8.2 - What does this tape offer?  Unequaled tension, suspense, musicianship, mood, and satisfaction. Is it the best quality?  No, but you can clearly hear every instrument, and I will take an 8.2 Crimson over 98% of anyone else in a heartbeat. This music is just brilliant and intense.
  • Audience 8.6 – 8.8  - All of the recordings here are good to very good audience recordings made on obviously portable tape recorders with limited capacity to hold the bandwidth needed for a loud, intense rock group. That being said, the tapes have gone through processing that allows more music information to come through, less tape hiss and background gunk, so you get to actually hear and decipher well what can only be described as groundbreaking experimental rock/jazz/prog by the band that wrote the book on it. Amazing power and finesse on display, and to reiterate my point on sound quality – this collection of live KC is still fundamentally indispensable to any self-proclaimed prog rock aficionado. • Audience 8.4 - This is a recording that is hard to figure out because on the one hand it could also be taped in a television studio which is my hunch. The tapers and those around them can be heard between songs but settle down once the music starts, it kind of adds a lot to the atmosphere. That being said, this is still pretty good, and what a gig, really, I mean amazing!
