• Audience 8.0 - You are probably wondering why I am including low rated recordings here, especially Kiss…well you may have a point but here’s the thing: This site is for ALL collectors, and the reason this show is listed here is because it circulated for years in unlistenable quality (below 7.0), but thanks to modern technology it is now listenable. It’s from perhaps one of their best tours, musically speaking, and needed an upgrade so bad!  So, for the casual fan I would say pass, but for the Kiss collector who knows how bad this show sounded and wants to throw away that old CD, I would recommend this 2020 re-master. Still kind of rough but there is now music here instead of an insufferable wall of distortion. I am not 100% sure but I think the big thing about this show among collectors was the inclusion of the song “Move On” to the set list, perhaps only performed this one time. • Kiss coming to Brazil in the early 80’s was a truly revolution! It was news all over the place! The Maracana Stadium, used for the first time on this king of show with an international act. The sound could be better if Brazilian sound engineers and broadcast equipment was better, but is decent enough for a soundboard recording.
  • Audience 7.8 - A recent remastering job has brought out much more of the music in this tape. It once circulated for a while in unlistenable quality, which is why you are probably unfamiliar with it. Now, it was rescued from the original reel to reel it was recorded on and spruced up a bit. I can honestly say it is MUCH better! That is all relative of course to the actual sound of this tape – which is average even though it’s clearer than before by far. What is happening is the music is all blended together with only vocals riding over it, to where you get distinct definition on them but everything else is hard to decipher…I mean unless you aren’t counting stadium bass/drum sound. To be completely fair, I listened to most of this show and my ears did adjust, and I started to get more out of it. • Audience 7.8 - Sounds like every bands cassette rehearsals. Clear enough to enjoy.
  • Audience 9.1 - Exciting and wonderfully clear!
  • Audience 8.7 - Very clear, and good atmosphere which really helps this music a lot. It seems the music is more dynamic with the sense of excitement the crowd gives. • Soundboard 9.8 - There would be no reason why a professionally recorded Kraftwerk show should sound anything less than near perfect because let’s face it, unless you are a complete moron, it would be hard to screw up their mix. It’s pretty basic, and because of that what you have here is pretty darn good. Mitternacht Notes on the show: Yet another AMAZING find that's now just come to light. This is a master tape from the France Inter archive of the FULL l'Olympia show! We only had 21 mins from the 'Somewhere in Europe' LP and then 38 mins from a rebroadcast in 2015. This is the complete show from a radio programme called "We're Going Out Tonight" with no radio DJ talking over the music or tuning. Very likely recorded before being broadcast on the radio. Of special note is Florian's use of the Votrax VS-6 "Talking Typewriter" as Karl put it in his memoir for "Die Sonne, Der Mond, Die Sterne."

Audience 9.1 - Truly an immersive listening experience, literally you are in the crowd close to the stage but the sound is probably better than what your ears were hearing at the show simply because massive volume tends to ruin your ability to decipher anything remotely close to “music”. This tape allows you to hear the actual music, and mayhem too! Sounds like it was a real blast to have been there.
  • Audience 8.8 - Good and clear recording here!
  • Audience 9.3 - Vocals are spot in to the point you would swear the gal is in your living room.

  • Audience 8.7/8.9  - Both recordings are really well done with the clear edge going to the 1975 stuff because it is a little bit more clear, although the synths and moogs and other keys are pushed way out front in the mix which is great because those sounds are otherworldly and mega heavy! A spot of mic dropout can be heard and it could easily have been edited out but it’s kept on the there but thankfully lasts only 2 seconds…otherwise what a show this is!  Fantastic and mind blowing! • Audience 8.4 - Some tape hiss present, and recorded from maybe midway back in the hall but if you turn up the volume a bit, this actually is very decent quality. Having relatively low recording levels means, essentially, they were conscience of overloading and distortion so they protected against that. You can turn the volume up as loud as you can stand, and it sounds better and better!
  • CD 1: New Paltz: Soundboard 9.2 CD 2: Stockholm Soundboard 8.9
  • Audience 8.5 - Recorded by French radio, so you would think maybe soundboard or at least multiple stage mics right?  Naw, this sounds almost like a bootleg, a REALLY good bootleg recording, but the old reel to reel tape shows signs of degredation…still this is quite good with some flaws here and there.
  • SDBRD 8.8 - Good quality broadcast with some static in places, maybe some old school FM radio compression but nothing that really offends the ears. This is quite good.
  • Audience 7.8 - Wonderful recording if just a touch on the compressed side (maybe FM radio?), still this is lovely!

  • Soundboard 9.1 - A newly discovered tape, takes a little bit to get itself on track with some sound mix problems but they resolve during the first song (sometimes appearing here and there for a second or two later on). The band is very tight, a strong performance, you will wish we had the rest of the show, but it’s great we have this. Led Zeppelin University Arena, University of New Mexico Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Wednesday May 23rd, 1973 Track List: 01. Celebration Day [03:48] 02. Black Dog [05:36] 03. Misty Mountain Hop [04:56] 04. Since I've Been Loving You [08:45] 05. No Quarter [11:20]
  • Audience 8.2 - This is a good recording, clear and pretty strong when the levels are right, but there’s the rub. The sound levels occasionally drop a notch lower throughout the course of the set, ultimately they do settle into a predictable place which is fine, think of it like listening along when suddenly they hit the overdrive pedal. When that happens, it gets VERY good for a while. Well worth having this despite that.
  • Audience 7.0–7.4 - Muddled, distant and lacking in separation of instruments, this is for completists only. To be fair, the mud does clear somewhat and some remastering has allowed us to hear reasonably clear lead guitar and higher frequencies that are not residing down where the tape distortion is, so for instance songs like Stairway To Heaven are like sun rays peaking through, so I gave this a spread rating which is more realistic.
  • Audience 8.7 - A new tape discovery and it is a good one, although not without some bumps and bruises. The tape is incomplete, missing at least the last 1/3 of the show (if judging by similar set lists from the time). The taper is close, and the sound is raw, powerful, and clear. The first few minutes are bumpy, but the tape smooths out for the majority of the show. The band is firing on all cylinders, much like the following month’s Texas Pop Festival performance. A great find! Led Zeppelin July 5th, 1969 Atlanta International Raceway Hampton, Georgia 01 Train Kept A Rollin' 02 I Can't Quit You Baby 03 Dazed And Confused 04 White Summer 05 You Shook Me Notes: This is from a 1st gen reel, the masters are presumed lost. The rest of the show was taped, but was accidentally erased.
  • Audience 7.0-8.0 - Muffled sounding, but this tape has been cleaned up a lot since I heard it oh about 30 years ago! Once your ears adjust it sounds a heck of a lot better than the first minute, the tape does improve some, in fact by the second song it’s a whole point better!
  • Audience 8.6 - This is a very good recording where all I can say is I wanted more guitar…but Bonzo is furious and drums sound heavy, bass is POUNDING without booming, and Plant rides it all with a reasonably clear and present vocal that kind of seems like it’s floating like cream above the sound. All in all I have to say this is pretty righteous for a 1972 aud. tape. Recommended! • Audience 8.1 - An old, very fragile tape was found and YEARS of grime and muck were removed to reveal a little bit of music. Still, on the scale of things Zeppelin, this tape is for completists only. Thankfully though it exists and has been wrapped in a very fine looking package. It deserves at least that much. Funny thing though, in listening to this, the bass is clear comparatively speaking and has a brassy, round sound that allows you to hear the notes he is playing. It’s not just a rumbling “low end” mess here, and so I appreciated that. Super excited audience also helps propel the recording a little bit. • Audience 7.5 - A SUPREMELY upgraded source from the one we have had to suffer through for years. This being one of Zep’s most historic concerts too! A MUST HAVE!
  • Audience 7.3 - This is a big upgrade to my ears. It used to be abysmal, now you can hear everything. Explosive and violent show, the band is ripping. Tapers can be heard sometimes but it adds to the weird atmosphere.
  • Volume 1: Audience 7.4 - Noisy and a bit cluttered with some clappers nearby. That being said, the remastering has brought out much more of the music and it can be enjoyed.
  • Volume 2: Audience 7.6-7.8 - Noisy and a bit cluttered with some clappers nearby. That being said, the remastering has brought out much more of the music and it can be enjoyed.

  • Volume 3: Soundboard 9.1 - Noisy and a bit cluttered with some clappers nearby. That being said, the remastering has brought out much more of the music and it can be enjoyed.
  • Audience 7.5 - Not bad just a tad loud, and a bit crowded in the middle of the spectrum.  (first night 9-13-71)
  • Audience 8.5 - Much brighter and open than the previous night. Also loud but well balanced.   (second night 9-14-71)
  • Audience 7.4 - This is a pretty loud tape, not the clearest or the most dynamic either, but if you are looking for a powerful wall of sound Zep show this is it! Incredibly brutal, the force of the bands’ sound is stunning.
  • Audience 7.3 - A little on the crispy side, with a lot of cymbal and high hat in the mix, but overall I think you can just equalize to taste and it is just fine.
  • Audience 8.0 - One of those “back to the clubs” gigs where you assume, because Zep were so loud, that any recording of them in a small club would sound like crap. This one is not crap, you can clearly enjoy each member as the separation of instruments is actually very good, in fact the bass notes are distinct here. The mix is good, the sound is decent, the performance is very good. I see no reason why not to have this.

  • Audience 8.8 - This old tape is fascinating, and frustrating. The “DJ” is a guy who seems to work for a local radio station who somehow got to broadcast this show – but my spidey sense says it’s not actually what went down. This is a ruse to get the tape machine into the venue, I am willing to bet money on it. So, he’s in the venue but to keep up appearances he does station ID’s periodically (almost every song) and because of his cheap recorder, the station id he does just sounds like a loud sonic swoosh (thankfully they are real short). Zep are in good form but fight constantly against poor PA which makes for a very interesting evening and a unique tape. One thing I want to point out is that because of the weird PA problems, it seems Page is getting much more feedback than normal and it causes him to sound much more psychedelic and I actually enjoyed that very much. • Audience 8.5 - We all are aware that this tape is not spectacular quality, it does what it needs to do and that is present a document of a great evening for Led Zeppelin. It’s quite magical in many respects, and really I think the quality is not disappointing considering some re-mastering of the tape has been done and it helps. Still this is worth having for history and for how good the band is playing. • Audience 8.7 - This is the one that every self respecting Zep head HAS to have, and probably already does. That being said, if you don’t have it, and maybe you are not a huge Zep person or maybe you are new to the live Led Zep world, do yourself a favor and get this now. It’s only one of the most legendary gigs ever captured on tape.
  • Audience 8.3 - A good and clear tape for the time period. Might be struggling to get the separation of instruments during really intense moments but you can really get into this one for sure.
