Audience 7.1 - Not a super clear tape, a little noise, a little distant, but all that said the guitar and Plant are front of the house to your ears. This is not that bad, but it is a concert hall reverb type experience to some degree. -
Audience 7.7 - This show does not overwhelm the listener in any dynamic range but what it does is capture in relatively good quality all the way through with no surprises. It’s very good, but does not call to your attention that much. Still if you are collecting them all, this one will be a great addition! -
Audience 7.1–7.5 - A tape that changes slightly in certain spots getting a little better than before. Plant sounds great, Jimmy is taking the solos to new improvised territory during this time. Listen to the bit before the solo break in Heartbreaker. Short, but very different than the familiar little runs he usually did. -
Soundboard 9.0 - Crunchy and clear, with super duper guitar tone right up in your face. Spectacular but sometimes so much power all occupying the middle frequency makes you want more low end, so add it with Equalizer and you are good to go mate. -

Audience 7.3 - Starting off rough, this EXPLOSIVE concert gets clearer until it is mildly satisfactory but that isn’t the real story here – the band is only on their 2nd show of the new year and they are roaring like hungry lions. Earthshaking intensity, which the poor taper struggles to capture properly. Should be in your collection for posterity. Remastered and upgraded! -
Soundboard 8.8 - Deep and rich lows, and nicely detailed highs are the hallmarks of what I consider to be one of the better 1980 shows the band performed. -
Audience 7.5 - Kind of middle of the road as far as dynamics in the recording, but the big plus is that every instrument is heard, with nothing rising above or falling underneath the mid-range ceiling. Pushing volume up really high will bring some of the inherent sonic limitation into the picture, which is lurking about but not intruding until you push it. What you can really get into here is the absolutely packed set list, and a more extended Good Times Bad Times than was typical at the time. Really, this is something even the average Zep fan might find interesting. -
Soundboard 9.3 - Good separation of instruments, bass is accurate and detailed, guitar crisp and biting, vocals strong and clean. Audience 8.0 - In this particular case, the rating doesn’t say anything about how amazing this tape is. Sure, it’s not glorious hi-fi with ultra-wide dynamic range, but it is actually much more than that. It’s just, pure magic. Short, yes, it’s not complete by a long shot and I am a little sad we don’t have the rest, but what we do have is proof of why Zeppelin took off after touring the States in ’69. I can’t imagine what people were thinking at this show. They could not have ever gotten anything as monumental as this from any local artist or 2nd tier touring act. This is indescribable; I can’t even find the right words. Page and Plant are killing it, in perfect unison, playing the best live versions of these tunes I think I have ever heard, approaching the majesty of the Fillmore West 4-27-69 but not as clear (obviously). The guitar tone is similar, with that funky echoplex delay sound especially on You Shook Me which launches into another dimension. The sound, at first, you might be dismayed, but stick with it. By the time you get a couple minutes in, you will be mesmerized. It’s an 8.0 that you’ll listen to a few more times for the lesson Page and Plant give in how to hypnotize an audience. Audience 6.6 - Almost abysmal, but for the fact that you can actually hear the band playing. I am harsh, I have heard worse. It is for collectors only – and has its place since it is a pretty uncommon recording from a great tour. Artwork is great on this, it is worth having but someone really should clean this up a bit. -
Audience 8.3 - not a good sounding tape, but it gives you enough guitar and vocals too actually keep listening, and you'll actually be glad you stuck with it because here's one thing I get from this: A totally uncirculated tape that shows Led Zeppelin absolutely crushing it, in fact so much so that I really wish this was professionally recorded and released legit because it's a much better show than Long Beach. Most songs are incomplete, audio comes and goes - actually occasionally getting pretty good, but it's hit or miss all the way. I think any Zep collector is going to appreciate this performance for sure - really amazing and for that I think you have to give this a listen. Audience 8.8 - This here is a very nice tape! It also shows the band firing on all four cylinders (yes, I am afraid this is only a 4 banger but this engine puts out more horsepower than a 12 cylinder Lambo!). Audience 7.3 - A tape new to the collectors, it is not without its limitations but it is audible. Without the re-mastering I would not recommend it on any level but for its rarity, however, it is now listenable (as if a layer of grime was wiped away). -

Page seems to tune up frequently so I wonder if there were temperature problems or other? Interesting beginning to Heartbreaker here, never heard that intro before. -

CD 1 - Audience 7.4 - Tape a little hissy, but since the highs are preserved we can live with that. It’s pretty clear at times, and then sometimes a touch cluttered up but overall the listener can appreciate this old tape for the explosive performance captured decently for the time. CD 2 - Audience 7.4 - A very powerful low end is the hallmark of this tape, and then there’s Robert, man this is his show! A good tape, a great performance. CD 3 Audience 7.3 - Unlike the other FE 69 recordings, this tape showcases Jimmy’s guitar, and of course Robert who probably would not even need a microphone he is so dynamic. This show he is literally just phenomenal sounding.

Audience 7.8 - One of those gigs I am sure the band is glad they have forgotten. Sound quality is not dismal though, the levels of the music are on the low side, and turning the volume up to high reveals more undesired noise than one would care for. That being said, it is clear enough to be able to get each individual on stage and hear them playing a rather uninspired set. For completists only, unless you just want to hear a bad Zeppelin gig. -
Audience 7.4–7.8 - A tape that improves somewhat, still there’s a reason why collector’s all love this show. It’s a real good one from the European leg of the 1970 tour, and the performance is great! -

Soundboard 9.1 -Always nice to hear these 1980 shows in this quality. There is something I really like about the later era Zep – a maturity maybe? I don’t know but I think the band really smokes here. Audience 8.3 - A little tape noise present but I think this recording is just fine for the time. It is better than some of the other Japanese shows from the tour. It gets really good during the acoustic section. Also happens to be a power house of a concert. Really a must I think. -
Audience 8.4 – 8.7 - A tape that has its share of strengths and flaws. The strengths are that at times it is pretty good, maybe comparable to the Raleigh 70 tape, but other times (such as during Dazed and Confused) the tape shows it has flaws due to age and although these aren’t egregious, they are clear and present and do effect the flow of the concert. For example the audio during Dazed has a speed fluctuation problem that is annoying. The problem stays through the next track but clears up after that and the sound improves dramatically. It is here that the tape shows it has considerable value! Yes, a great find after all. Two versions of the show are represented with both being similar, the different being in how each was re-mastered so it is up to the listener really. I liked the first re-master (CD1) personally. Audience 8.0 - Clear recording, if a little distant sounding. Tape is a little bit hot, but so is the band! An enjoyable experience, not the highest fidelity, but this is a slamming show, and the sound, while a touch thin, is actually very good. -
Audience and Soundboard - The Audience portion is about a 7.2 with a very strained tape trying to contain such an explosive show, but the Soundboard portion is a great relief when it kicks in! Worth getting for that reason, and because the performance is as good as I have ever heard. -
Audience 9.8 - It’s hard to find anything that is quite as marvelous as this…seriously. You can take all your pristine board tapes and none of them come close to capturing the essence of Led Zeppelin on stage in front of an audience. This is simply a MUST HAVE no matter how many shows you have in the collection (certainly you already have this anyway) but get this one again because it’s been recently transferred from the original cassette masters and given the treatment. Audience 9.0 - This is a brilliant live document, captured during Zep’s “Back To The Clubs” Tour of 1971. A sort of intimate atmosphere and a very jovial and chatty Robert Plant. The band sounds loose and genuinely having a great time. -
Audience 8.6 - Very similar to Nagoya 72 but less distortion present, it’s surprisingly clear, it’s highly enjoyable and the band just played terrific on this Japanese tour. Really worth having! -
Soundboard 9.3 -
Audience 7.8 - Exciting show, recording features a strong guitar, clear vocals, bass and drums present but not as bold. All in all, it’s quite good and the show is fierce. -
Soundboard 8.8 - This is Bonzo’s show, even with the mix. I love the drum sound on this tape. -
Audience 7.5 - This tape is not nearly as bad as what it used to sound like before we had high end re-mastering tools. So, it’s got some noise issues that kind of keep it from really opening up but the amazing thing now is you really can hear the whole band, and Jimmy is just on fire. Collectors really praise the band performance from this show, and it is obviously much improved now, so yeah, I recommend it. (3-27-70) -
Audience 6.9 - Not the best in dynamics and collectors regret that because it’s such a good show. But that being said, it is also not the absolute worst tape either. (8-21-71) -

Audience 9.7 - The question you might ask is “do I really need another version of this?” and the short answer is “Hell Yes”. Why? Because technology has advanced to the point where you can take multiple sound sources (in this case four) and merge or “matrix” them together seamlessly to create a sonic tapestry so good it takes your breath away. Audience 7.5 - Sounds like this was remastered because there’s a lot more music now to sink your teeth into. Is it great? No, it’s average with a welcomed lean towards upper mid-range allowing for guitars to be prominent and even bass is heard, as if it was a second guitar almost. A good one for 1977 tour completists because quite frankly the band is really playing well here. -
Audience 7.5 - This sounds a lot better than the old cassette I had for decades. Not nearly as distorted as I remember it being. This is actually not that bad. -
Soundboard 9.1 - This is not a bad board tape, leans just a touch maybe on the more trebly side, giving bass the title of “second guitar” I guess. Still, it’s not a static board, it’s very exciting. Audience 8.4 - An incredibly loud tape, bordering on catastrophe but not quite going over the red line of doom. What I mean is, the tape is just way overloaded, but it hangs together miraculously just enough to be able go ahead and listen through…although at times it’s so intense you just have to turn the volume down a bit. Now, when you get to, say, The Rain Song – yeah, the tape shines…it’s just that kind of tape. NOTE: After the tape flip in Rain Song, the taper seems to have been able to dial down the recording level a little bit, it seems to get a little more manageable. Audience 8.1 - I was expecting the worst when I became aware of this recently surfaced show, but to my surprise it isn’t all that bad. It’s lacking some depth and low end but it is clear, and close, and shows some detail. It’s a fine recording, and if you have a subwoofer, well there ya go. -
Audience 8.8 - What is a rating anyway? When it comes to a gig like this, it’s almost irrelevant. Look, just get this and you will know what I mean. Even the band would probably direct you to grab this one.
