• Studio Quality 9.7 - Overall the quality is superb, a couple of songs maybe just a couple notches down but none here that is less than excellent. Obviously these versions are not what was on the album but some are pretty close, just some different mixes, maybe alternate guitar workouts and maybe Mick is trying some different vocalizations but it’s still another angle on a great album. Why do all these “modern” era Stones albums seem to age very well. Because they were and are good, fact! • Audience 8.7 - A good tape, not one that Prince purists might visit often due to how many great soundboards there are but I’ll tell you what, I enjoyed this one. The quality evens out and reveals a tape that may not present a super clear soundfield but it does deliver plenty of realism and vibe. It’s “good enough” to be able to play all the way through and afterwards say “that was a good gig, glad someone recorded it”. Prince Special Invitation Concert Texas Southern University Houston, TX. • Pro Recording 9.1 - The engineers for this live recording opted to not close mic so you have a live recording with lots of atmosphere and probably sounding truer to the actual event than a pure soundboard.  The bass is well recorded here, normally you’d expect the sound mix to favor only guitar as that is what the fans are wanting most – but here the mix is rather democratic. • Studio Demos 8.3-8.7 - Quality ranges from just listenable to pretty decent. However what you get here is quite illuminating – I had no idea this band began as a sort of gothic blend of Black Flag, Misfits, and Motorhead. I hear punk influence all through these demos. I think they got onto a cool, raw, guttural vibe and thought “let’s run with this” and it took them down the metal path. • Audience 8.8/Soundboard 9.3 - Very good audience source for the Philly show, perhaps maybe just somewhat lacking in bottom end and of course it’s denser than the clean channel mix of a board tape or broadcast but for 1984, I don’t know I think it’s pretty good. • Audience 9.4 - If you can’t get into this rollicking, electric southern fried punk and roll then you aren’t alive. This kicks total ass!  Great sound quality and great atmosphere combined with a band that was unfairly ignored by the media at a time when new music and new attitudes were flourishing. I can listen to this all day…Fantastic! • Audience 9.4 - Superb capture! There’s nothing I would change about this tape, it’s got a wonderful electric vibe and strong depth that leaves you wanting more. A great testament to the song craft of Gary Wright. Gary Wright Boston Music Hall Boston, MA USA 11 October 1975 01 -Love Is Alive 02 -Blind Feeling 03 -Dream Weaver 04 -Can't Find The Judge 05 -Kyle 06 -I Know A Place 07 -keyboard solo 08 -drum solo 09 -instrumental 10 -Are You Weepin'
  • Audience 9.1 - Atmospheric, where even if it may be recorded from somewhere in the middle, the immersive experience has been well captured. Vocals sound lush and full, and percussion is crisp and well defined with a nice, rounded bottom end holding it all down. This is a decent recording that allows the listener to imagine where they are sitting and how the event sounded, the actual P.A. sound. • Audience 9.4 - If the house itself sounds great, and your taping with high quality equipment (most likely a small digital unit with a good, dynamic mic and level control), then your result will be something like this. A lot of detail comes through, as does, from time to time, a rowdy audience – that adds to the atmosphere and thankfully never wrecks the audio recording. • Soundboard 9.5 - Spectacular sound, ferocious performance! This is, without a doubt, one absolute must-have for anyone with even a remote interest in Judas Priest…but I’ll take it even further and say ANYONE who loves hard rock should get this one. • Pro Studio 9.8 - Glorious sound quality, and the intimate setting of the Record Plant radio broadcasts back in the day is just perfect here because we all know what happened to this guy’s career after Margaritaville took off…would have been hard to reproduce such intimate settings after that. • Pro Studio 9.6 - Crystal clear and in fact does not even sound like it was recorded off air, these are certainly pre-broadcast. The Smiths BBC 1983-1986 01. • Soundboard 9.1 - I rate this as a soundboard because even though I am not 100% sure, the giveaway is the drums. There’s no way this is from the audience as the drums are in stereo, obviously professionally mixed and panned in a stereo sound field. The Smiths Queen Margaret Hall Glasgow, Scotland March 2, 1984 1. -Hand In Glove 2. -Heaven Knows 3. -Girl Afraid 4. -This Charming Man 5. -Pretty Girls Make Graves 6. -Still Ill 7. -This Night Has Opened My Eyes 8. -Barbarism Begins At Home 9. -Back To The Old House 10. -What Difference Does It Make 11. -Reel Around The Fountain 12. -You've Got Everything Now 13. -Handsome Devil
  • Soundboard 9.7 - An amazing sounding tape, the bass sounds wonderful and all instruments mixed perfectly. A great one! The Smiths May 4th, 1984 Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany 01. • Pro 9.6 -An obviously professionally recorded show, this will certainly provide the listener with a lot to love although I still like more atmosphere on a live recording than what is contained herein. The beginnings and endings do show the presence of an enthusiastic audience. The Smiths "Same Day Again" Oxford Apollo March 18th 1985 01. William It Was Really Nothing 02. Nowhere Fast 03.
