Audience 8.9 - A great way to discover this band, with a realistic and well captured recording of a very professional performance. -
Audience 7.6 - Very impressive stuff. This band sounds so much heavier live than on their record, and their record is pretty damn heavy! I would imagine a lot of young people at this gig later formed their own bands and decided they could be even heavier than these guys - thus was born the modern metal sound. So, to me, it just sounds like these guys were taking the music they heard as kids (Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath), and putting their own twist on it. Great stuff! -

FM Radio Broadcast 8.5 - The tape source shows its age, and then there’s the telltale radio compression as well so you get a reasonably clear sound with a lack of high end clarity, occasional minor drop outs, that sort of thing. It’s not that bad, I expect better of an FM broadcast but there’s not much out there from this station, this is a pretty rare thing, and the band, while very good, never achieved a lot of commercial success. They are traditional AOR rock that sometimes reminds me of Bob Seger or Meatloaf. -
Audience 8.6 - A little thin but surprisingly clear, and man, just to hear this stuff I gotta say it’s a privilege. The material these bands came up with around this time – 1972-73 – it’s just a whole different world of rock and roll that most people were, and still are, completely unaware of. I like the experimental spaciness of the opening “jam sessions” with Franco Battiato (probably with members of the other bands), you get the feeling these guys were really tuned in to each other because it’s not recklessly chaotic, there’s a mystical beauty to it. The Quella Vecchia Locanda is just insane, too bad only one song, and it’s not complete, but I think only a small portion was missed I could be wrong. Garybaldi’s set consists of most of the Astrolabio record, which is very cool but I wished there was some of the Nuda stuff on here. -
Soundboard 8.8 - A grungy, dirty piece of heaven! I used to listen to this band when I was young man not yet in my 20’s. I was so happy to finally hear what they were like live…and be able to hear it! I shy away from a lot of this old metal only because it was so hard to record them live unless it was through the board or professionally. This is cool shit! Audience 8.7 - A crisp and clear recording with a liveliness to it that makes you feel like you are sitting in the audience listening. Lovely! -

Audience 7.8 - A rather subdued tape, as if they left the microphone underneath something for stealth purposes because while you do hear everything, it lacks punch and clarity. It’s not crap, but it should be considered for collectors only. -

Soundboard 9.4 - Extended jamming is the order of the day here and the pristine sound quality help you fully enjoy it all. Whether you saw Crazy Horse in 1976 or in 2013 doesn’t matter, they sound exactly the same. -

Audience 9.5 - Just a slight touch better than the early show in that the guitars have more bite, and the vocals are slightly more pronounced. Simply a must, because you have not only a superb recording, but a great time in Neil’s illustrious career. (Late show) -

Audience 8.8 - A great atmospheric recording – I think I have figured it out though – so people used to go to concerts and party, with the musician on stage performing just an excuse to be with hundreds of other pot smoking, over-hyped hippies. What I am trying to say is that the audience is a little too into it…in my opinion. Great show though. This is a good show but Neil is plagued with guitar problems and spends about a quarter of show tuning his guitar. Also of note David Crosby and Graham Nash join Neil onstage for Old Man. -
Audience 8.8 - This show has an inviting, warm intimacy to it. A good mid range, pretty consistent. -
Soundboard and TV 9.3/8.8 - The first two discs are by and large excellent and clear but the last disc is more subdued, still soundboard but the source has aged more and the signal is less bright. Great to listen to, all three discs have a lot to offer. Audience 8.5 - I would designate this recording as a reference recording – what was going on in 1973? That’s what this tape is, an old newspaper featuring a back story on this local band. Very dated…sound quality is marginal but not in a miserable, muddy, dogshit kind of way. It’s listenable and fun, like I said it is a good reference and may guide you towards other NYD tapes out there. I know I was certainly intrigued enough to seek out other recordings. Audience 9.6 - Combining three different sources would be superfluous unless each independent source had things that one of the others did not. In this case, it is exactly what happened, and the result is spectacular. Simply put, this is a must have! -
Audience 9.2 - A very clean and clear tape, with a solid and intense mid range giving it an immediate thump that I find makes for a close approximation to having been there. -

Audience 8.7 - This band, while not a household name by any stretch, actually did gain quite a following throughout Europe and even to a much lesser degree in the USA. They played a style of progressive rock that was accessible but did not convert to singing in English completely and that probably won over more fans in their home country. The recording here is clear, it provides just enough dynamics and detail to let you sink yourself into their sound, although the recording suffers some level problems towards the end, but recovers enough to end on a high note. The material is great, I am reminded of Pink Floyd, Eloy, and perhaps maybe a bit of ELP.
