• Volume Two:  Audience 7.6 - Just a touch better than Volume one, suffers from the same limitations but has a slightly more open sound.
  • Volume Three:  Audience 8.4 - This is best of the tour by far. A great early audience recording it’s clear and open sounding. Yes!
  • Iron Maiden - Tour of Japan 1982:    (complete set) Volume One: Audience 7.4 - Thankful for these Japanese tapers who had the best gear at the time. Reasonably clear if a little squashed, it nevertheless is way better than 85% of the early Maiden audience recordings. Volume Two: Audience 7.6 - Just a touch better than Volume one, suffers from the same limitations but has a slightly more open sound. Volume Three: Audience 8.4 - This is best of the tour by far. A great early audience recording...it’s clear and open sounding. Yes!
  • Audience 5.0 - Low fi, but so few good recordings from the early days. The lead work is the clearest sound on this, vocals non-existent. Can appreciate the dual guitars on this even though it is low-fi.
  • Audience 8.8 - Every now and then a tape surfaces that really gets you excited as a collector. This one is just such a tape, because for one thing not only is the quality very good, but it’s super nice on the ears. What I mean is, the timbre of the recording is very comfortable, so it’s easy to listen to the entire show there is no fatigue on the ears at all. The icing on the cake is having both opening acts in the same kind of quality, in complete form. So, what more could you ask for? • Radio Broadcast 9.2 A touch of hiss present, but other than that this is a pleasant and airy recording. Electronic music with an atmosphere that would convince you otherwise. Excellent! • Italy Prog Fest 1972:  Volume 1,2,3 Audience 7.5 - The stuff that dreams are made of! How long I have waited for something like this to materialize. I mean, I have been listening to and collecting these bands for ages and now I get to hear a full on multi-artist concert experience by all of the era’s top artists at the zenith of the prog rock movement. How cool is that? What a set this is too! The quality of presentation equals the unquestionable importance of this as a document of an important time for rock music. Thank you to whoever recorded this, and thank you to whoever packaged the recording like this. • CD reissue of Canadian metal band from the 80's. Released on Aqua Net Records. UK import SEALED.
  • Audience 8.8 - Sounds like a pro recording to me. A little remastering would have this officially releasable.
  • Audience 7.3 - The sound field just won’t open up no matter how much you hope it will. However, this tape holds some rewards if you hang in there, there’s enough head room to sweeten the sound with Equalizer, so it does need a little boost on the highs – the mids and lows are all there and are not super well defined nor are they too boomy or muddy. There’s some muddiness but it is not a deal breaker. This is a good historic artifact.
  • Soundboard 9.7 - This is not just a good board tape – it’s a tape that has loads of atmosphere to go with the upbeat party vibe of the band. It’s simply amazing sounding. • Audience 8.7 - This is a solid effort, it captures a typically rowdy J. Geils party atmosphere without sacrificing the music at all. Taper has good seats, and he manages not to get too bumped around because it sounds like a lot of stuff was being consumed this evening in 1972. A good one to have! J. • Audience 7.7 - Some muddiness, but historically nothing short of astonishing!
  • Audience 8.8-9.2 - All seem to be recorded with the same gear but the Marseille show seems maybe slightly upgraded due to either taper position or just better acoustics. Over all this is a highly rated set of shows for the quality of the recordings. The stage mix does vary just a bit as to who is more present, but you hear all the stuff going on as it was live-mixed for the performance (meaning I don’t think taper error caused any lack of presence of, say, synthesizer or guitar on any given performance).  The taper used the first song, and in some cases part of the second song to dial in the levels (an indication of really good gear being used) and as such you may notice a volume change, albeit relatively smooth, and once he’s dialed in it is smooth sailing. The performances are sometimes a little hesitant but do gel during instrumental segments much more. I will say this: Mick Taylor is a fantastic player, but I would not call him “progressive” and this music wants to be more prog but it is constrained and maybe that is why it did not blossom much. • Audience 8.7 - A fascinating live document that showcases some amazing talents paired with Jack’s keen sense of songcraft on a night where all cylinders are firing. A great way to begin exploring the post Cream Jack Bruce if you have not done so already. The bonus material on disc 2 is equally fascinating, offering a sneak peak into the inner workings of Jack’s mind. Everyone can get into this power-packed set!
  • Soundboard 9.1  - I am not sure if this was recorded for broadcast or not, it sure sounds like it may have been, I mean may have been broadcast as I hear some of the “FM compression” characteristics here…but it is a fine board tape nonetheless. Great performance of "Fountain of Sorrow".
  • Soundboard 8.9 - An intimate performance for the university students. A warm recording, kind of sounds like it could be coming from your own living room, in the mix, his band is slightly muted in order to highlight Jackson’s acoustic guitar/vocals and I think it is by design. • Audience 8.5 - A little dark tone here, and some lack of clarity but not the kind you normally associate with an audience tape (especially one recorded in this notoriously cavernous sounding hall). This tape is actually one of the better audience tapes I’ve heard from Carnegie Hall. James Gang Carnegie Hall NYC 5/15/71 Disc One - 46:37 1. Funk #49 2. Ashtonpark 3. Stop 4. • SDBRD 9.9 - The only thing that gets this to a 10 is a better kick drum sound (extreme nitpicking here).
  • Audience 7.2 - A reasonable rating and better at times.
  • Audience 8.8 - A huge upgrade to the Fillmore West ’70 tape! Is it worth getting even if I have the old one?  Oh, yes, it is. It’s so much better that it needed a completely new presentation. Give your old copy to your neighbor, you shall not be needing it anymore. James Gang November 21, 1970 Fillmore West San Francisco, CA 01 - Opening Jam 02 - Funk 49 03 - Stop 04 - You're Gonna Need Me 05 - The Bomber 06 - Thanks 07 - Ashes The Rain & I 08 - Bluebird 09 - Lost Woman Joe Walsh - Guitar, Vocals Dale Peters - Bass Jim Fox - Drums
  • First Show: Audience 7.3  /  Second Show: Audience 7.9 - This one is much clearer, but both shows are going to be good for those who appreciate the pre-Deep Purple Tommy Bolin.
