Volume 2: Audience 8.2 - Sounds like taper attended the first two nights and had different seats each time because this one, while pretty strong, shows a rather overloaded bass signal that does not distort the tape as much as it crowds the sound field in the middle. This places guitar secondary in the mix, and vocals third. Drums sound good. The overall mix is what I would call decent for 1969 audience but not as clear as the first night. -
Volume 3: Audience 7.6 - Bass is pumping at the expense of everything else unless the music pauses now and then which makes guitar front and center for a moment. It’s somewhat muddy, but you do hear everything happening, and the ears do adjust. It’s the worst of the three night stand. Good, at times, and worth having nonetheless. -
Audience 8.4 - This is the August ’72 show and the sound is pretty decent with clarity, average depth and dynamics but regardless it’s a very enjoyable listen. Perhaps it could be said this is one of the better ’72 tapes in circulation. -
Audience 7.4 - Noisy recording from very close to stage, but it’s so raw and energetic you get sucked into it immediately. A jolly good show! Clear, loud, and tons of fun to listen to. -
Audience 8.5 - Certainly has to be considered as one of the clearest of the ’68 aud recordings out there. The other great thing about this one is the performance is very good, Jeff is on point throughout the gig. -

Radio Broadcast 8.3 - A professional recording that could be better with some final mastering. Right now it sounds like it needs some multi-band compression but it is technically a good sounding tape. -
Audience 9.1 - Here’s a rarity of sorts, a late 80’s Jefferson Airplane show. So, how relevant were they in the grunge rock era? There’s plenty of fire left in this rock band, and rock they do! Quality is very good here, so your ears can relax and your mind can drift away as you re-engage yourself with what really matters…great, original rock and roll. Audience 8.3 - This recording originates from a very low generation, but probably master tape source and as such it is very clean. The caveat is that it seems to have been recorded from the back of the hall, which is not that bad since the hall was probably not that large. It’s a good recording that needs a volume boost, which thankfully you can crank it and it does not distort. -
Soundboard 9.2 - Still sounds as fresh and exciting today as it did then. Maybe just a tiny amount of “hot” mic but it only adds to the energy of this recording. Audience 7.8 - I love these little time capsules, maybe it’s not the best fidelity, but I can hear pretty much everything here and the bass is fat without distorting so it’s got some balls to it. You know, listening to things like this makes one really wish they had an actual time machine. -

Radio Broadcasts 8.7 - Contrary to what the title states, there is no Utica show, it was broadcast out of Utica but recorded elsewhere, two shows, two different dates – and the title should more technically be “Utica 1969/70” since the recordings date from those two years. -

Audience 7.0 - A noisy tape that is to be expected from this time period and from a fan in the audience…that being said, it has something to offer to the collector. It’s a little distorted in the low frequencies which is OK because this band does not live on bottom end anyway. The guitar is pretty clear, so you get treated to the band’s formidable front line with vocals and bass coming in behind the guitars. -
Audience 8.5 - OK, so the deal here is that the taper seems to be real close to the PA system and his machine is getting bombasted like heck, but the thing is holding up somewhat. Early on, the snare drum is pegging his meters and it’s kind of annoying until he seems to either move a little or dial back the recording levels because it evens out after a couple songs. A very kinetic and wild show and recording that throws you headfirst into the action, a thrill ride of epic proportions I would say. Have fun! -
Audience 8.8 & 8.7 - Same taper for both nights, and thankfully this is someone who knew what they were doing as you can tell they diligently set their levels and position to maximize the end results, and man, what end results these are! More probably for the outstanding performance and great house mix, but the tapes have held up well with just maybe a touch of overload in very loud parts that do not annoy, just you may notice it on occasion. Great performances by the band especially Craig who just rips on the guitar on practically every song and even Grace is in excellent form. A must! -
Audience 9.4 - How I never came across this one before is simply a shock because it absolutely SMOKES! Just a brilliant, clear, atmospheric recording capturing the subtlety and nuance of a complex band. Not to be missed! -
Audience 7.6 - This is a tape that you could turn up and add some bass in the Equalizer and it will improve a lot. The sound is a little thin but completely intact and very consistent all the way through. -
Audience 9.5 - This deserves a high rating because it does much more than document a live concert…it transports you back to the event in a way that a soundboard tape cannot. It immerses you into the experience, with depth, clarity, dynamics, and atmosphere. What a tape! Get it. Audience 8.4 - Not super dynamic but pretty clear, a decent ’74 tape where you can hear and enjoy everything (including the crowd) quite clearly but without a wide palate of audio spectrum. Not saying it is thin, not saying it is one-dimensional either, just that from highs to lows you aren’t going to have much depth although you can EQ and probably adjust to your specific needs. A good tape. -
Audience 8.8 - A somewhat thin recording that is impressively close and clear. It has a sort of antique kind of sound, maybe like from a very high quality AM radio but don’t let this dissuade you here – this recording may not be a bass blaster but it is tight and nice…kind of intimate almost with vocals and lead guitar being super close and detailed. Interesting for sure! Hard rock group from Houston active during the mid 70's and were primarily known as a covers band, playing many of the well known clubs in town. They recorded a handful of original songs in 1975, and disbanded following some unfortunate incidents while on the road. A single 7" record was released, however, and gained enough traction that rhythm guitarist Jimmy Lee Dean decided to continue on and recruit new members (the era known as Jeremiah MK II). This version of the band recorded a full length LP which never saw the light of day as the manager absconded with the master reels soon after the sessions, and nobody heard from him since. Eventually, we rediscovered these masters and attempted to transfer them in the studio but the tapes had severely degraded, the material, such as it is, is also contained on this collection. A 40th Anniversary reunion concert occurred in 2014, and excerpts from that show are included on the 2nd disc. All known recordings of this band are included in this package. -
Debut LP from 1992 ~ Very Rare and sought after by many collectors. Another tight band pushed out by grunge. This band is Rock at its best. Once you hear this, you will not be disappointed. They should have received major recognition for their talent, but was seldom heard. -
Audience 8.5 - I guess if you want to know what this band was about in their heyday, and if you didn’t mind the fact that one of the few tapes in existence sounded like what your parents thought of your heavy metal noise…this is for you. It’s punkish, it’s brash, it’s snotty, it’s ramshackle, it’s amateur, it’s possibly a glorious mess…and they do Vegetable Man so they get high marks for recognizing what is great and what should be covered (that’s because they don’t have enough profound original music to offer at this stage). So, yeah, I suppose this is worth getting in case you A. want to discover this band and B. want to hear what they were like at the beginning. OK, last thoughts – want to know what it sounds like when a freight train begins to crash? In slow motion? Very nearby? Side Note: I liked their song "Taste The Floor" as it reminded me of early Kinks.
