• Audience 8.4 - Captures all the stage action with clarity but maybe not so much of the dynamics, so add just a pinch of your own Equalizer (maybe more bass) it will dramatically improve this already decent recording.
  • Soundboard 9.3 - Very smooth, dynamic, elegant sounding tape here. Just a tiny bit of tape hiss when things are quieter, but this tape is a joy to listen to and the band is just firing on all cylinders. JEFF BECK – Grand Prairie 2010 (2CD)

Original price was: $23.49.Current price is: $10.00.
Audience 8.8 - Good levels on this one.
  • Audience 9.5 - Holy Moly this is RED HOT!  The recording is right in your face but not distorted at all. It’s amazing how close this sounds, its super clear too. The only knock I have is that the bottom end is not as beefy as I would prefer. I really wanted more low end punch but if that is the only knock, then you probably should explore this one because not only is it great audio-wise but the playing is off the charts, and I mean seriously Jeff Beck and Stanley Clarke are at the absolute peak of Mount Everest here. JEFF BECK/STANLEY CLARKE BAND Live at Les Arenes de Fréjus Fréjus, France 10. • Soundboard 8.9 - Interesting set list here, some material that may be considered “deep cuts” played.
  • Audience 8.7 - An explosive concert, totally off the chain here. Quality is solid, for the time period especially – a very immediate punch, very lively, lacking all the niceties for sure but you won’t care, believe me.
  • Audience 7.7 - 7.9 - All 3 shows sound like they were done by the same crew. All are decent, nothing spectacular, but consistent and enjoyable without displaying a lot of activity in the upper or lower frequencies. Can be enjoyed is what I am saying.
  • Audience 8.3 - Spectacular for such a primitive audience recording Audience 8.5 - Another early gem of a recording. Both have some roughness to them but they shine considering the age. A must!
  • SDBRD 9.2 - Must be in every fans collection but if it isn’t, go for it because it’s one of the best shows ever!  Disc two is also SDBRD but I rate it a solid 8.9 as it is not as crisp, but it’s still great stuff.
  • Audience 8.5 - Stomping show by Jeff, as you know he could be quite erratic but I think he nails it here. Good clear sound although not hi fi by any means. Add Equalizer, add low end, but it’s a good clear sound.
  • Audience 8.1 - This is the new remastered version that does improve upon a decent audience tape. Some tape noise was removed, and mid-high band was enhanced with good results. A good one to have, it’s pretty good.
  • Audience 8.8 - Spectacular live presence and good clear vibrant recording.
  • Soundboard 8.9 - A little bit hissy, but it is a board tape so you will be able to enjoy the music….and it is great music! Jeff Beck With Jan Hammer Group Feb 7, 1977 Activity Center, Brisbane, Australia 01 -Oh Yeah 02 -Darkness - Earth In Search Of A Sun 03 -You Know What I Mean 04 -Goodbye Pork Pie Hat 05 -Bass Solo - Come Dancing 06 -She's A Woman 07 -Sophie 08 -Diamond Dust 09 -Freeway Jam Jeff Beck - guitars Jan Hammer - keyboards Tony Smith - drums Fernando Saunders - bass Steve Kindler - violin
  • Audience 8.8 - Actually a very good recording but levels are low so turn it up. Once you crank the volume, you will be satisfied to hear that this is a tight and punchy recording.
  • Audience 8.9 - Terrific! A real sonic treat not to be missed.
  • Soundboard 9.4 & Audience 8.6 - the first few discs are excellent soundboard which is cool because they are very early performances and there’s a lot to dive into there. The next couple of discs are good audience tapes, the first being a bit towards the back of a medium sized club, but it’s not bad. Overall it’s an interesting collection, really allows you to contemplate the artists changes over time, with band members, and compositions. Good stuff! • Audience 9.5 - Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The only thing that prevents an even higher rating is some occasional conversation around the taper, not that it ever rises to an infuriating level or anything, but it sometimes calls to your attention. I still can’t figure out the concertgoer who simply cannot focus their attention on the performance they have spent good money on seeing and hearing. • Soundboard 9.4 - Minor hiss present in quiet passages but does not impact any music. This is a great show, impressive in every regard especially the incendiary guitar work by unheralded master Daryl Stuermer. Many people were first introduced to Ponty through this album, Imaginary Voyage, and it’s on full display here in a live setting. EXCELLENT!! • Audience 9.2 - A lot of dynamics and presence on this tape.
  • Audience 8.6 - A solid large hall recording.
  • Radio Broadcast 8.8 - Very nice, with only maybe a little bit of that typical analog tape compression keeping anything from soaring too high. Anyway, it is delightful and sure to please.
  • Audience 7.7 - Suffers from a lack of clarity of instruments and a little bit of large hall echo, with bass being in the forefront but not a boomy bass so that is good.
  • Audience 9.3 - The great thing about this performer is that his sound and style is timeless – it might as well be 1976 because after listening to his shows from the 70’s, I can’t tell much difference between then and this 1990 show. The show sounds great, it is rich and full bodied with an especially beautiful drum sound and bass is meaty without being overbearing although it sometimes shakes your speakers!

  • Audience 8.8 - A huge upgrade to the Fillmore West ’70 tape! Is it worth getting even if I have the old one?  Oh, yes, it is. It’s so much better that it needed a completely new presentation. • Audience 7.2 - A reasonable rating and better at times.
  • SDBRD 9.9 - The only thing that gets this to a 10 is a better kick drum sound (extreme nitpicking here).
  • Audience 8.5 - A little dark tone here, and some lack of clarity but not the kind you normally associate with an audience tape (especially one recorded in this notoriously cavernous sounding hall). This tape is actually one of the better audience tapes I’ve heard from Carnegie Hall. James Gang Carnegie Hall NYC 5/15/71 Disc One - 46:37 1. Funk #49 2. Ashtonpark 3. Stop 4. • Soundboard 8.9 - An intimate performance for the university students. A warm recording, kind of sounds like it could be coming from your own living room, in the mix, his band is slightly muted in order to highlight Jackson’s acoustic guitar/vocals and I think it is by design. • Soundboard 9.1  - I am not sure if this was recorded for broadcast or not, it sure sounds like it may have been, I mean may have been broadcast as I hear some of the “FM compression” characteristics here…but it is a fine board tape nonetheless. Great performance of "Fountain of Sorrow".
  • Audience 8.7 - A fascinating live document that showcases some amazing talents paired with Jack’s keen sense of songcraft on a night where all cylinders are firing. A great way to begin exploring the post Cream Jack Bruce if you have not done so already. The bonus material on disc 2 is equally fascinating, offering a sneak peak into the inner workings of Jack’s mind. Everyone can get into this power-packed set!
  • Audience 8.8-9.2 - All seem to be recorded with the same gear but the Marseille show seems maybe slightly upgraded due to either taper position or just better acoustics. Over all this is a highly rated set of shows for the quality of the recordings. The stage mix does vary just a bit as to who is more present, but you hear all the stuff going on as it was live-mixed for the performance (meaning I don’t think taper error caused any lack of presence of, say, synthesizer or guitar on any given performance).  The taper used the first song, and in some cases part of the second song to dial in the levels (an indication of really good gear being used) and as such you may notice a volume change, albeit relatively smooth, and once he’s dialed in it is smooth sailing. The performances are sometimes a little hesitant but do gel during instrumental segments much more. I will say this: Mick Taylor is a fantastic player, but I would not call him “progressive” and this music wants to be more prog but it is constrained and maybe that is why it did not blossom much.
