• Soundboard 9.3 - Clear and bright, a solid recording with the only real fault that I find in the mix is a little “sloppiness” with the cymbals but other than that…sit back and enjoy!
  • Soundboard 9.2 with Audience 7.8 patches - A red hot show that thankfully is available in great quality with previously missing parts filled in with the long traveled audience tape.
  • Pro 9.7 - Studio recordings of impeccable quality.
  • Audience 8.6 - Tape clears up a little bit after the first couple songs, and, it has kind of low volume but you can turn it up and it’s fine. Actually, this is very good because the crowd is very respectful here, so the quieter numbers are very, very warm and nice.
  • Audience 8.6 - What is great about this tape is that again you have a situation where the highs are completely intact, in some parts maybe too much, but it lends itself perfectly to EQ’ing since you have no worry about losing highs. Great live energy, a great performance (when does he not?) also.
  • Audience 7.8 - Thankful to have this one, so the less than perfect sound does not faze me, besides it’s actually decent. I get every instrument, especially Rory’s guitar and the bass, which actually has some definition to it. The only caveat is the lack of a dynamic quality, but the dynamics are provided by the playing, which is off the chain good. A memorable gig (joined by fellow Irish luminary Phil Lynott)! This is Blues Rock as performed by absolute masters.

  • Audience 8.5 - Should be a higher rating but for the mastering where the mids are so hot. Put this through your Equalizer and bring the mid band down a little bit and you have a very strong recording. The highs are insane, not screechy just detailed, and the low is present, so just fiddle with the mids because it’s just too hot there.
  • Audience 9.7 - This is the result of VERY diligent and committed tapers. First: get there early. Second: don’t leave until the last bit of sound comes out the P.A. Then, do a damn fine job! That sums up this experience, because that is what it is: An Experience. Well done sir!
  • Audience 9.3 - Another spectacular capture that presents a detailed soundfield and plenty of atmosphere to sink yourself into the show as if you were there. Excellent!
  • Soundboard 9.4 - I love the live mix on this one, it’s not a cookie cutter board mix. One of the best I have heard!
  • Audience 9.0 - Right in the pocket! Solid, devastating, loving it!
  • Soundboard 8.8 - Not without its share of problems, this is a good tape to have. I can’t explain the strange phasing issue, with what sounds like a funky stereo to mono and back again drop out every so often. Needs a good remastering with some multi band compression. Still, it’s a soundboard.
  • Audience 9.2 - Supremely LIVE and vibrant with maybe the slightest touch of tape noise that effects this absolutely zero because it simply DESTROYS everything, it is so good.
  • This entire set is meant to fill in a collector’s gaps. CD 1 - Audience 8.0 - Thin and distant but you do get to hear everything happening, not muddy, and not echoey, so this has bright spots CD 2 - Audience 7.6 / CD 3 -Soundboard 9.5 / CD 4 - Audience 7.5 / CD 5 - Soundboard 8.8
  • Audience 8.6 - The number score doesn’t tell the story on this show. The “flaws” here work to the advantage of the listener depending on what you like about live recordings. In this case, it’s too loud, a touch distorted (not distracting at all), and maybe slightly compressed but man, what a show and the recording delivers max energy and excitement. I LOVE this tape! It is absolutely brimming with power and energy.
  • Audience 9.5 - Pro recording that will have the hairs on the back of your neck standing. Only one flaw, the vocals are a little buried in this mix until about a quarter of the way into the first song but then they fix the mic problem and its smooth sailing.
  • Soundboard 9.3 - Fantastic stuff, really will give you a profound appreciation for Robert’s early solo work.
  • Audience 8.8 - What a great range on this tape. Solid low end meeting up to a very accurate mid range and the highs are not burnt to a crisp but there when you need them to be. Solid Solid Solid!
  • Audience 9.5 - This is what happens when professional equipment is brought in by an audience member who knows what he is doing. Could be released officially, it’s so good.
  • Soundboard 9.1 - You can hear some bleed through during quiet times and when band is not playing but when they are playing it is loud and punchy, good mix.
  • Various sources ranging from 9.0 to 9.7 - High quality live and studio.
  • Soundboard 9.3 - This tour of Japan has gone down in Rainbow history as being the most fiery performances. Everyone playing superbly, and as always Dio is perfect.
  • Audience 8.2 - Clear recording with some interesting “wide” vocal panning that is probably an effect from the hall, but it’s cool!
  • Audience 9.0 - Vocals come through shining!
  • Audience 9.1 - A concert recording that defines the term “immersive”. So, you are basically transported back in time and placed into a seat pretty close to the stage, sitting next to a couple of enterprising tapers. The audience is a part of this experience, it’s open, vibrant, clear, and dynamic and you are right in the middle of it all. Dang, you really should dive into this one if you do not have it.
  • Audience 8.4 - The situation with this recording is that although it is really clean, like master quality clean, the clarity gets a little lost when the band is at full volume. And that is because it is incredibly “live” and atmospheric and does not focus the audio directly into the mic. So, it’s very much an experience that immerses you but lacks super tight sonic clarity but a VERY nice recording otherwise. For 1975, it’s a great capture.
  • Audience 8.7 - This is just a dandy, with that large hall sound but NO annoying reverb or echo, just vibe. File alongside Boston 76, which is one of the very best of the tour.
  • Audience 9.6 - Stunning! The band is on fire, the recording is brilliant. More like this please!
  • Berlin 1971 - Audience 7.6 and Pro 8.7 - Material originates from an average audience tape but two songs come from a pro TV recording (most likely). Stockholm 1970 - Soundboard 8.9 - Material is most definitely from a TV source (thus explains the short interview). The second disc contains BBC tracks from 1970 and some rare color 16MM pro shot film from Berlin 1971. The disc is formatted as a data disc so you can only play it on a computer, opening the audio files and video file with the player of your choice.   • Three Shows: *  Detroit - Audience 7.1 - Very thin and transistor sounding. *  El Paso - Audience 7.4 *  Springfield - Audience 8.2 - The best of the three shows by far.
  • Audience 8.9 - Clear and plenty of detail here with a few problems showing up only very occasionally. One thing I noticed is there is a bit of what sounds like the music is moving around overhead, what this could be is the quad system and the mic is picking up the sound as it rotates around the venue. Otherwise it’s some kind of phasing but it’s not too annoying, just wish I knew exactly what it was.
  • Audience 8.8 - Long admired for how clean and clear it is, even though it sounds like it originates from the middle of the hall. Echo is minimal, and atmosphere is plentiful with occasional taper chatter (not much). There’s a little bit of “static” in the recording, possibly because of high recording levels on the original master, but over the years this has been remastered and Equalized so that most artifacts are minimized.
  • Audience 8.8 - This tape has good high end response with only a little crunchy crispy on the crashes but the ears like this tape because of the separation of high end to low end. That means the opposite of muddiness – this tape delivers a wide spectrum from low to high making it a treat for the ears.
  • PINK FLOYD – San Diego 1971 (2CD)

    Audience 8.5 - Some tape noise present, and some issues with the tape containing the sheer volume of the PA’s when the band is in full swing, but really this is a pretty “live” tape that gives you a great sense of the moment. Atmosphere is pretty cool, the sound is clear for the most part excepting the somewhat cluttered bandwidth at high volume. Worth getting.
  • Audience 8.7 - This is a surprisingly clear tape with a superbly detailed bottom end and would rate MUCH higher if the sound mix brought the guitar and keys up a bit more. These complaints are not the fault of the taper or his gear, but rather the actual PA sound mix at the show, which by the way is VERY good so do not be put off at all, it’s that my preference would be for more guitars.
  • Audience 9.1 - Legendary is all I can say. A beautiful recording that captures the vibe of the day, and every note of the gig as the sound wafted gently through the air into the superior quality tape deck that was used for this capture. Get it!
  • Audience 8.3 - Surprisingly well balanced and bright recording.
  • Audience 7.3 - The good thing about Pink Floyd is that almost every taped concert is relatively clear because they did not overload with bombast and volume.
  • Audience 7.0 - Something about this recording I find very interesting. It’s a haunting, mystical vibe, a somber heaviness that falls over the stadium and envelopes everything. The recording gives you just enough to experience it, despite it not being exactly hi-fi, it is truly fascinating to experience this show from this taper’s perspective. You will be totally pulled into this gig, and the recording slowly does seem to get better. I like it!
