• Audience 8.8 - Great one for all to enjoy.
  • Audience 8.7 - A very clean tape recording, sonically it is extremely good for the time period. I only notice maybe vocals being a little bit underneath the music which is not a bother when you consider that most of this is instrumental anyway…however that is a minor quibble, this is a great recording for 1970. • Audience 8.3 - Distant, with a limited bandwidth that keeps the sound from really opening up wider. It’s not the worst of the tour, the music is listenable, in fact guitars ring out nicely but the vocals are too distant. You will need to turn up the volume on this, where it actually sounds better the louder it is (strange because you would think it would magnify the flaws but it helps in this case). • Audience 8.8/9.1 - Two pretty good recordings with the second evening (July 4th) having the benefit of much more high end definition and overall clarity, with soaring headroom that makes for a generally relaxing listen, so you’ll tend to favor it more but that is not saying July 3rd is bad, it’s actually also very decent just not as clear and defined as the 4th. • Audience 9.3 - One of those “must have” titles that is quite necessary for any serious Pink Floyd collector. While this recording is not perfect, it does have exceptional atmosphere and each instrument is distinct. The overall timbre of the recording is in the mid range, and sometimes at full volume there’s just a touch of overcrowding but there are what I call “the intangibles” of what makes a recording rate 9.0 or higher and this tape has them.
  • Audience 9.2 - A really quality recording for the time. Some audience chatter before songs, overall very respectful. Good atmosphere, heavy vibe, great performance. Hard to not want this one featured prominently in the collection. Original price was: $25.49.Current price is: $24.49.
Audience 8.7 - This is a good and reasonably clear (some tape hiss) recording which reminds me a lot of the Hamburg 1971 recording. I would not be surprised if this was done by the same guys. As a bonus, there is a third disc containing the film footage of Atom Heart Mother from this show. It should be playable on most players, this disc is formatted as a video disc (compact disc containing an MP4 file), if you have any problems please let us know. It should play fine on your computer, and most DVD machines will know what to do with it.
  • Audience 7.7 - Obviously one that everyone needs as it is one of the rare performances of “Tea Time” sequence. Good sound, not going to blow you away but it is ok, maybe low levels, some tape hiss.

    PINK FLOYD – Paris 1977 (2CD)

Original price was: $23.49.Current price is: $22.00.
Audience 9.1 - The last of a four night stand in Paris, and probably the best of the recordings made. Strong, clear, and a nice warm mid tone, although not as atmospheric, meaning taper must have been close (and knew how to operate the recording levels!).
  • Audience 8.8 - A very clear recording that lacks a lot of depth, but delivers in other areas that make for a very decent listen.
  • Audiece 7.9 – 8.4 - During mellower passages the elegance of the sound comes through really nicely and you just sort of float along, but when the band gets cooking the old analog tape struggles and there’s some overcrowding of the bandwidth. That doesn’t mean it kills this show! This is a great experience and you will simply love this as you get totally sucked into the performance which is stellar.
  • Audience 7.3 - Thin sounding but clear enough to enjoy, occasional moments of 7.8 – 8.0 when the band is playing their more atmospheric parts.
  • NEW SOURCE Audience 8.7 This is a major upgrade to the previous version (see old review below for comparison) and as such we felt that it had to be offered here as a replacement. If you purchased the previous version (the artwork is untouched, only the music has been replaced in this set) than you are entitled to receive replacement discs without charge (pay postage cost only). Just reach out to us and we will take it from there. If you have never bought this title, than consider this one worthy of the collection. I will offer this caveat though - it is a recording that still shows its share of shortcomings, such as maybe a touch of overload during more bombastic passages (not nearly as bad as previous!), and the last track is incomplete (better an incomplete but listenable track than a totally un-listenable mess). OLD SOURCE  Audience 7.2 This one is rather mediocre, although it is not “unlistenable” at all, but compared to other 1977 recordings it is what I would classify as “for completists only”. That being said, I can point out a few moments of this concert that I found interesting in a lot of ways. Like, during Pigs On The Wing Pt.1 you hear large explosions from the audience (possibly fireworks or maybe PA problem?) and you immediately think of Roger and how he’s probably disgusted with the whole thing by this time. • Audience 8.8 - Once again, we are literally fighting it out in the rows with the fans but thankfully the music comes through it all in fine fashion, which is amazing in and of itself. Taper must have used pretty good hear to accomplish this feat – how to survive in the sweaty pits of hell and at the same time produce a very decent bootleg tape!  Well, they did, so thank you taper for your efforts. • Audience 8.8  - This came from a collection of tapes that were recorded by a couple who had the permission of the venue, so you would expect them to be done with more precision and care….but the story goes that they never listened to the finished results and therefore were unaware of the flaws in all of their efforts, mainly being signal overload. Now, this is where modern technology comes in to the equation – because after all these years we are able to notch out the offending frequencies and now the tapes sound VERY good! Listen to the difference, go back and find a pre-mastered version of this show and then listen to this one. It’s amazing, really amazing what a well trained ear can do for some of these old artifacts. This show also happens to be an inspired performance too, so win/win. • Audience 9.2 - What immediately strikes you about this recording is that Rick Wright’s synth sounds and effects are NOT window dressing! In fact, they are almost overwhelmingly loud at times during the concert. Now, what I like most about old recordings is when they reveal something to me I never knew – in this case I did not know or appreciate how much Rick’s work, however consequential during the song, was not mixed out or down by any stretch but you might think that judging on the myriad hundreds of tapes that exist that do not give you a true appreciation of the volume.  This tape is insistent, relentless, and thankfully clear and dynamic. The middle and upper midrange is sometimes almost too much but never does it distort. Get ready for a front row earschplittenloudenboomer! • Audience 8.8 - A great stereo recording from the 5th row back, center. Occasional mic drop out in the 2nd half of the show - fixed but tape went mono for a bit. A really nice and immersive concert recording.
  • Audience 8.3 - A little hissy, but surprisingly clear, even when the band is at full volume.
  • Audience 8.5 - Some tape noise present, and some issues with the tape containing the sheer volume of the PA’s when the band is in full swing, but really this is a pretty “live” tape that gives you a great sense of the moment. Atmosphere is pretty cool, the sound is clear for the most part excepting the somewhat cluttered bandwidth at high volume. Worth getting.
  • Audience 7.4 - This tape is a prime candidate for a remastering. The sound is clear but a little distant, and the levels are low. There isn’t anything necessarily wrong with the tape that can’t be fixed.
  • Audience + FM Interview 8.9 - The big question then is “if I already have the show, do I need this”?  Quick answer is “yes, kind of”. If you collect live shows because you want to experience that moment in time, then you want this. Firstly, it’s direct from original masters, as is the rare FM interview, it’s in the proper running sequence, and it edges the well circulated “Santa Monica” title by a smidgeon in terms of quality. It also presents a day in the life of the band, then still two years shy of releasing their world famous masterpiece and becoming obscenely wealthy and…different, or I should say “indifferent”. • Audience 8.8 - This tape has good high end response with only a little crunchy crispy on the crashes but the ears like this tape because of the separation of high end to low end. That means the opposite of muddiness – this tape delivers a wide spectrum from low to high making it a treat for the ears.
  • Audience 8.5 - Levels need boosting but it’s clear, and a solid recording, very enjoyable! The bonus material (Pittsburgh 1975) is very good and clear, around 8.6 very, very enjoyable. Show is incomplete.
  • Audience 8.8 - A fascinating recording, obviously with high quality microphones because there’s a detail here, especially with drums and bass (managing to realistically capture the depth of bass and the precision of drums). Guitar and to a lesser degree vocals get pushed slightly behind drums and bass, and the keyboards are a little bit behind those. Not to worry, even when the guitar work is almost tough to make out (taper must have been on one side of the stage) you have to remember Gilmour plays a lot of high notes which tend to carry across any hall so they are picked up here. My opinion is that because of the elegance of the way the bass and drums are recorded, when the guitar is really present it makes for something pretty amazing when it all comes together (and it does, just not all the time). • Audience 8.8 - A tape that should really be enjoyed by everyone even remotely interested in Pink Floyd. • Audience 8.4 - Tapers sitting kind of close it seems, and the recorder admirably managed to prevent too much over-saturation although there is a touch of it and the instrumentation gets cluttered up in the middle a bit at full volume. Overall this is simply a wonderful document of a band that seems to be very comfortable with the material (obviously) and firing on all cylinders.
  • Audience variable 7.4 – 7.0 - Tape is clearer during the band’s spacier segments but at full volume it gets somewhat cluttered and muddy. Collectors will want this for the unusual set list.
  • Audience 8.8 - This is a “power” show, meaning the sound coming at you when you play this (hopefully on a decent system) is very forceful, like you really get a sense of the massive volume and power of a band in their prime. That being said, it is a different power than, say, a heavy metal band in that the sound itself is balanced to the degree you get good instrument separation. The other thing I like about this tape is the stereo pan, it’s nice when you are able to get a sense of the event in a more tangible way and this tape does deliver that effect. So, while not as clear as maybe the Radio City Music Hall show (for another example of a ’73 Aud), this recording delivers the goods and should be acquired.

  • Audience 8.6 - This old tape has recently gotten a much needed facelift. It’s as if 40 years of grime were wiped away. • Audience 8.8 - Two sources exist for this show, this being Source #1 and a good step up from the other source. This one sounds fuller, with a rich, deep bass response (at the expense maybe of the mid/high of guitar) and also seems maybe a touch closer to the stage, so less of the boominess which is not detracting at all here even though it is obviously a large stadium.

  • Audience 9.3 - Another superb audience highly rated for not only the good clean capture but also for the show itself and the dynamics and effect it all has on the listener emotionally. It’s truly a time capsule, and the DVD is the icing on the cake. This set is now expanded to include the soundboard portion of the show. This is a must own!
  • Audience 8.8 - Long admired for how clean and clear it is, even though it sounds like it originates from the middle of the hall. Echo is minimal, and atmosphere is plentiful with occasional taper chatter (not much). There’s a little bit of “static” in the recording, possibly because of high recording levels on the original master, but over the years this has been remastered and Equalized so that most artifacts are minimized.
  • Audience 9.1 - A really fine recording and a great show this is! Some minor limitations present during very heavy passages where the equipment fails to maintain the clarity we get used to during most of this show – but it’s not a deal-breaker at all because the recording remains powerful without distorting which is critical to the success of the tapers’ efforts here. You might lose a touch of vocals and some clarity (a little bit) but that will not detract from the pleasure you will get from this show. • Audience 8.7 - A loud, loud tape recording that gets right up to the bleeding edge of break up at full volume but thankfully does not go off the edge…too much! So, I have to say about this one, it’s terribly exciting because it has a super realistic feel where you can sense the size of the venue, the air of excitement in the crowd, pretty much all the hallmarks of an exceptional capture. It does get too loud in places, so be warned.
  • Audience 8.7  - A somewhat slightly above average recording that thankfully remains very listenable and stable, there are some periods during the show where the tape improves maybe to an 8.8 but once your ears adjust and you settle in, at the end you will think it wasn’t bad at all. It is NOT muddy, in fact there’s very little tape hiss so this must emanate from a low gen tape or it has been worked on. When some songs go from quiet to loud (as they frequently do at a Pink Floyd concert), the tape machine seems to take a second to adjust, perhaps it has an automatic level adjuster, but despite those tiny momentary hiccups the tape is largely smooth sailing. • Audience 8.2 - As good as one could hope for, this recording being about as important and critical to the legend that is Pink Floyd as anything they did after Syd. Actually, everything is pretty clear here, and surprisingly you have Syd Barrett actually performing rather well at this gig. A MUST have.
  • Audience 7.9 - A little more cluttered than the Copenhagen show, still this remaster reveals much more to the ear than anything that surfaced in the past. Another absolutely crucial tape recording that cements the bona fide legend that was Syd Barrett.
  • Studio Quality 9.5 - The first disc in this collection is referred to as “Revamped” because it extracts the most robust and complete takes, fixes where need be, and assembles in a way that most closely resembles a coherent project. Purists may opt for the more conventional outtake compilations contained on discs 2 and 3, but therein lies the beauty of this collection. It presents a much more interesting picture of what was and what could have been…notwithstanding the official release of Paul Kantner’s album.
