Soundboard 8.8 - This is the one the fans have all been waiting for. There are a lot of recordings out there from this period but NONE sound like this! Ferocious! The drums are frightening, vocals up front and scary AF. Midrange is a little busy, but it all sounds so much better than what I am used to listening to, and you know the reality is that unless you are listening to a board tape, this band is damn hard to listen to just because of the cacophony they generate on stage. Released by the reformed band in 2013 in a very limited run on CD-R, this is actually that same title re-worked. The audio is the same but the package is expanded, the original was a very simple, black and white 4 panel sheet with nothing printed inside and the disc placed in without any protection. It was a CD-R burn in fact, and basically my understanding was it wasn't even sold but handed out to people, family, friends, fans, etc. Not even sure how many they made, probably less than 1,000 for sure. They are all gone now, but this re-worked version supersedes that with the upgraded packaging.- 99th Floor Part 2

Audience 8.7 - This is a GREAT 8.7, and what I mean is that while technically speaking the sonics are not ideal, the entirety of this recording is GREAT! It has a feel to it, it captures a moment in a highly tangible way, from the feeling of being in the pit, to the sense of time and space, and the "in your face" nature of the audio itself. All in all I really enjoyed this for what it is and it is something I can definitely recommend highly. Audience 8.9 - A pleasant surprise to hear how good this one is. I was not expecting it, for some reason. Nice and clear, with healthy atmosphere (ie. polite audience), and dynamics that, while not approaching anything symphonic, are well intact and discernable. Audience 8.8 - The sound of this recording owes almost all of its characteristics to the house PA sound. What I mean is this: The recorder very accurately captured exactly what this gig sounded like, and so if there is any particular thing that is not as good as it could be, we need to talk to the sound man. This tape captures this show in excellent quality, I would say the rating reflects more what the sound itself actually was like at this show - not great (for me I just did not love the drum sounds, and thought the guitars could be louder) but really very good. I think it is a matter of preference then, because some people might really like the way this show sounds coming out of the main PA system. Audience 8.8 - A pretty decent recording which might be a touch on the thin side as the deepness of bass is lacking, but still enough meat on the bones to be worthy of the collection. Vocals come through clearly, drums do sound good too and the overall sound mix is very even. Audience 9.0 - This recording has a real vintage feel to it, like a fine antique it is a little brassy but nice and clear with enough dynamic to get a feel for the mood and the times. This is well worth the listen, and fine playing as always by the band. Audience 9.4 - This is a band that has attained the kind of status that warrants a serious examination of their live "bootleg" catalog. In particular, I think the years 1987 to 1992 are the important years, and any tapes that are listenable are considered collectible but the ones that are excellent, as this one is, should be sought out. Why? Because Guns 'N Roses was more than the sum of their parts, and the music that happened on stage more often than not seemed to hold that most elusive quality - Magic. Studio Quality 8.6-9.5 - I was not expecting this to be anywhere near this good. I kinda just assumed it would be a collection of 4th gen cassette tape garbled noise. It's far from noisy and garbled, it's actually DAMN good! Maybe two or three tracks out of the lot are a bit less clear and dynamic, but those are the minority here. All in all, this set rocks! Soundboard 9.4 - Clear and bold (especially percussion) capturing a very fine creative period of the band (the dual guitar with Neal Schon being especially notable). I did notice a slight amount of distortion in the lower frequencies but it's barely noticeable. The mix does change towards the end of No One To Depend On and a lot of the boominess and excessive volume is dialed back so it mitigates any distortion present. SANTANA Denver Coliseum Denver, CO. London Audience 8.7 - A decent recording that remains consistent throughout. Everything comes through, albeit not with a lot of detailed anything, just good overall clarity and decent mix. I would commend the taper because I know he had to have battled with the Hammersmith Odeon acoustics, loud audience, louder band, and consumer grade gear and yet still managed a good capture. Brussels Audience 8.9 - This is a strong recording and finds the band performing at a very high level. Good sound balance, and though you get a sense of the sheer volume, it does not stress the tape. Audience 8.8 - This here is a very nice tape! It also shows the band firing on all four cylinders (yes, I am afraid this is only a 4 banger but this engine puts out more horsepower than a 12 cylinder Lambo!).
