A limited edition offering from Houston based ShroomAngel Records. This band was one of the "inner loop" bands that began pushing boundaries in the local scene with their hybrid style, born out of two worlds - the growing "grunge" sound pioneered by Janes Addiction (which you can hear in their sound especially vocals) and Mudhoney among others, but also in old guard punk and hard rock, which you also get reminiscences of in their sound. The music even crosses into some psychedelic territory, it's pretty much an amalgamation of several styles that sometimes adds a sort of exotic feel, but with an anxious, almost paranoid underpinning.

Soundboard 9.6 - Fantastic sound and even better performance here. Look, I know Skynyrd had a lock on all things Southern Rock for most of the 70’s, but can we agree that Molly Hatchet carried the torch admirably into the 80’s? They did. Here is proof. Soundboard 9.7 - This is what keeps me excited about collecting…this right here. I was not very knowledgeable of their live catalog (whatever is out there, IDK) and so I did not know what to expect with this. Man, just man, it literally BLEW me away! Just amazing in every way – and the playing, along with pristine sound quality, it’s just a no-brainer. I did not know how accomplished these guys were, the musicianship is off the charts good. Very tight, very professional, and great songs for the style they play in – they even cover Lynyrd Skynyrd as a nod to their counterparts. Good, I mean, GREAT stuff! Soundboard 9.0 - A surprisingly good recording considering that it attempts to capture something pretty untamed especially for the time. There are lots of unrehearsed punk moments here, but overall I remain quite impressed with this early Misfits music because it sounds like a genie being let out of the bottle. Audience 9.1 - Not much I can find to complain about with this recording. I mean, I could ask for something even better but I would need a time machine…so I am going to settle for this tape! Audience 9.1 - A recording that delivers everything that you want, especially the guitar tone which is simply glorious. You would be forgiven if you thought “hey am I listening to the Stones right now?” but remember, it was The Stones that sounded like Mick Taylor not the other way around! Great stuff! Soundboard 9.0 - This is most definitely off the radio, it has all the tell-tale signs of a radio broadcast including the FM compression (not horrible) but I also think, if not radio, it may have come from a TV broadcast. Soundboard 9.6 - Killer sound for a heavier rock band because they preserve the tone and the dynamics, it’s not just VOLUME up to 10 although I am pretty certain this show was very loud. Soundboard 8.8 - The audio quality is very good, the mix wanders around a bit – because I am pretty sure this wasn’t just the band rehearsing but the entire crew. Audience 8.5 - Certainly a mainstay title in the huge catalog of live Metallica boots. Why? Because it is the classic line-up and it sounds reasonably good, even though the twin guitar attack is not clearly defined. The band was making a statement around this time, and that much is certainly evident with these Ride The Lightening tour tapes. Metallica Stockholm, Sweden 12-12-1984 1. Ecstacy Of Gold 2. Studio Rehearsals 8.8 - Thankfully recorded on something other than a cheap boombox so the quality is there as far as being able to hear everything clear. Vocals are the only thing that does not ring out clearly, but other than that this is gold. This early Metallica is a far cry from what would be in just a few short years. METALLICA 1982.03.XX - Downey, CA Rehearsals in Ron McGovney's Garage 1. Hit the Lights 2. Helpless 3. Jump in the Fire 4. Let It Loose 5. Sucking My Love 6. Am I Evil? 7. The Prince 8. Killing Time Released in '94 via a collaboration between KNAC and Ron McGovney, a number of these demos were debuted during the CLASSIC and ORIGINAL Mandatory Metallica show on 105.5 KNAC. They did a whole week with Ron McGovney in the studio and some of these gems were played on the air. Pat O'Connor, one of the DJ's from the Mandatory show, had his hand in putting out numerous Silver Bootleg CD's and promptly released Sucking My Love between '94 and '95 and then released Things That Should Not Be in late '95. Always an interesting listen... they had a long way to go. Lineup: James Hetfield - Vocals (No Guitar) Dave Mustaine - Guitar Ron McGovney - Bass Lars Ulrich - Drums

Studio tapes 9.0 - Great to hear this raw, early pre LP stuff because quite frankly it’s fantastic. It’s a different take because there is a real sense of urgency with this recording, like the band know it’s critical to make it happen or they remain bums on the streets of San Francisco. We all know what happened next.
