Audience 8.1 - Tape is not clear but also not muddy, it’s just typical of early 70’s gear not being able to handle freakishly loud rock bands. This recording highlights drums, guitars, and bass and vocals are in the background. That being said, the drums and guitars are pretty clear, and there’s plenty of the dueling guitar pyrotechnics on display. I don’t complain to have this show to hear, it’s clearly worth it to the collectors out there. FM Broadcast 9.0 and Audience 8.8 - Both recordings capture the band well enough to appreciate that they were at least attempting to craft their own sound and style. Audience 8.7 - It’s a small to mid-size venue and a loud all-girl metal band so the idea here is to just have some fun. If you are wanting pristine clarity and dynamics, you have come to the wrong place. If you want polished, precision metal, um, yeah, whatever pal. If you wanna rock with some veteran metal chicks and get sloppy drunk, well, step right up!
-
Soundboard 9.4 - Anytime you can find a soundboard of this band you really ought to grab it. I think it allows the listener to get all the nuance, the sound effects so-to-speak that make Ghost a little bit better than the competition. Plus the songs are interesting, and the voice is perfectly matched to the style.

So I want something that gives me a sense of being there and this tape does that. I like the “in the pit” feel of this tape, and I really like the immersive audio. Great! Soundboard 9.4 - A newly remastered version of the matinee soundboard show in all it’s glory restored – with bonus material from Seattle, this is well worth re-examining because I found it to be a really pro job, and you don’t have to suffer through the inferior audience tape thrown in because quite honestly there would be no point at all. Audience 8.8 - A large hall with a lot of atmosphere but the recording thankfully was handled with care by the tapers. Audio quality is decent, giving you a pretty solid idea of what you would have been hearing with your own ears if you were there.

CD 1 Audience 8.8 - A very good, bright, well balanced recording. Most welcomed because for me, it’s this time period (actually 1970-73) of the band I like the most. CD 2 Audience 8.1 - A somewhat flat, and a little bit muffled recording. I can still hear everything, it lacks dynamic range, but I did not find it annoyingly so, just when compared to disc 1 this one sounds lifeless. Sale!Audience 7.5 - A tape that struggles to get better, like you keep expecting it to suddenly open up because it isn’t bad once the taper gets his levels set. It maybe hovers too close to the bottom, but you get the sounds of everything on stage, maybe vocals a little behind the mix but so what? It’s Gentle Giant, you want the music parts mainly. I think fans can appreciate this early gig.

Audience 8.8 - Previously available as a single track, Watcher Of The Skies was merely a taste of a tantalizing recording that has now been painstakingly restored from the original master cassette and it reveals much more than collectors could have imagined. A really good tape it is, with a nice intimate clarity (relative to the overall mix) of vocals, and a satisfying “thwack” of the drums…I found myself mesmerized by this show and especially a sparkling rendition of “Supper’s Ready”.
