• Berlin 1971 - Audience 7.6 and Pro 8.7 - Material originates from an average audience tape but two songs come from a pro TV recording (most likely). Stockholm 1970 - Soundboard 8.9 - Material is most definitely from a TV source (thus explains the short interview). • Audience 9.6 - Stunning! The band is on fire, the recording is brilliant. More like this please!
  • Audience 9.3 - Did you miss Queen in their prime? Don’t worry, because now you can be there again by listening to this show. I think every English band that plays Boston elevates their game, perhaps it is because Boston feels like home to them…it is kind of quaint and vaguely British I guess.
  • Audience 8.7 - This is just a dandy, with that large hall sound but NO annoying reverb or echo, just vibe. File alongside Boston 76, which is one of the very best of the tour.
  • Audience 9.3 - Wow! Simply incredible, an audience tape with more dynamics than most professional recordings, and a fantastic performance and set list!
  • Audience 7.4 - Roughly the same quality for each show. Both present complete 1974 shows, certainly must have’s for any dedicated fan, and even though they are only slightly above average, they are both good listens.
  • Audience 7.7 - Nice for a large stadium bootleg! Interesting recording, because it sounds like the guitar solo pans to one side, while rhythm guitar is center channel – but it’s an audience bootleg, so my guess is maybe two mics were used to get that to happen.
  • Audience 7.4 - Very enthusiastic audience, they are loud, music is there somewhere.
  • Audience 8.7 - I want to rate this higher because of what it represents and what it will do for you, the listener. I want to rate it based on more than just audio fidelity, which in this case is very good for the time, and technically you get everything you need here – excellent separation of instruments, good clarity, good atmosphere…but dynamically it sits in a middle range place and doesn’t offer deep, rich lows or crisp highs and we are spoiled nowadays so we might complain about that but NOT ME! This is KILLER! When was the last time a Queen live recording caused the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up? I can’t adequately express the perfection this performance is, spine-tingling, electric, orgasmic, all of this and more. If listening to this show doesn’t move you, you are dead inside. • Liverpool 1973 - Audience 7.3 - Something funky about the mix, and there is tape noise present, but it has an almost small club feel to it, just sort of far back in the club maybe. London, 1973 - Pro Radio 9.7
  • Audience 8.8 - What a cool document this is! It’s basically them in a sound studio doing a video shoot for We Are The Champions and then afterwards performing an entire show. It’s awesome! The band sound great, a very heavy, metallic sound in pretty decent quality thanks to this taper. Queen London, UK New London Theatre October 6, 1977 1. Bob Harris' Speech #1 2. • Audience 9.5 - Many of you will be surprised by my rare high rating for an audience tape…but man, I gotta tell you, this is 100% justified. Yes, it’s sonically really nice, but it delivers that magical quality that real fans know about and is kind of hard to explain the uninitiated. Let me try: you feel like you are seated there at the show, you feel the anticipation, you know what is about to happen yet can’t quite believe how actually incredible it truly is. Enough hyperbole, you get it, I love this one. But to be fair, the recording quality is more like a 9.2, still great, but it’s the atmosphere, the spaciousness, the rolling drums that seem to pan across the speakers, the great sound mix, all of it equals pure magic and a legitimate 9.5. • Audience 9.5 - Why such a high rating? Because this sounds as if you are standing right in front of the stage, on Brian May’s side, and there’s no distortion. Amazing. You are there, it’s a feast for the ears…it’s ear candy…have some!

Soundboard 9.4 - A fantastic stereo board tape! I would have preferred more guitar in the mix, but it’s great nonetheless.
  • New York 1975 Audience 8.3 - Not particularly clear, but recording does have some force behind it that propels the sound into your ears, making it slightly better than your average, or mediocre 70’s audience tape, and that is really good because this is a rare one – only 4 known to circulate recordings from the US Sheer Heart Attack tour. Hear the band just before they exploded! Santa Monica 1975 Audience 8.8 - A very good recording of the rarely captured US Sheer Heart Attack tour. The band had yet to release Bohemian Rhapsody and were supporting a good record, but the greatness was still yet to come. • Audience 8.4 - Unfortunately this is not the best recording. It’s a big stadium, but the flaws are not the typical big stadium flaws of too far away and echoey, rather a preponderance of bass. At times it lets up though, I mean, the rest of the band comes through (vocals being most audible) and you can hear what is going on but you have to round down some of that bass. A mastering job was done, and a lot of the boom was mitigated, and that is nice because this is the one tour that seems to be lacking in decent recordings (Jazz Tour). I’m thinking this one is for Queen completists, but with such nice artwork accompanying this title it’s worth grabbing if there is a discount going on. Audience 8.4 - Let’s face it, ever since the movie came out, recordings like these take on new significance. I just find it fascinating to hear, knowing the back story a little more. This is a very decent recording with primary focus on vocals and drums, with guitar and bass a little behind them but present enough to be able to enjoy this. You can turn the volume up, levels are good - the taper was careful!
  • Audience 8.8 - Spacious and lush, a full spectral sound range to wrap your ears around. This is what I would call a fully immersive live recording and it’s all thanks to a fan with great gear and a passion for preservation. Great stuff!

  • Audience 8.4 - A solid tape that sounds like it has been remastered to remove hiss, but artifacts remain. I imagine though that it sounds better than before, because it is clear that there is something to work with here.
  • Audience 9.5 - Hard to really improve upon this one - it's lovely in all regards. Great, clean highs and round lows with a great mid range. It's highlighted by a respectful crowd that rarely intrudes while the band is performing but very enthusiastic between songs. Wish I was there. • Audience 8.4 - The situation with this recording is that although it is really clean, like master quality clean, the clarity gets a little lost when the band is at full volume. And that is because it is incredibly “live” and atmospheric and does not focus the audio directly into the mic. So, it’s very much an experience that immerses you but lacks super tight sonic clarity but a VERY nice recording otherwise. For 1975, it’s a great capture.
  • Audience 9.4 - When an audience tape is done correctly you get a very real sense of the environment, of the people and the moment happening in front of you. This tape does all of that for you.
  • Audience 8.8 - Thrown into the middle of the action, surrounded by hyper excited Japanese teenagers, you are REALLY going to experience what this evening felt like on many levels – not least of which was the super-electrified performance of a Queen band riding the crest of a popularity wave that would last many more years. Audio quality is good enough to warrant serious investigation of this offering. Queen Budokan, Tokyo, Japan March 22nd, 1976 Disc 1: 01. Opening 02. Introduction 03. Bohemian Rhapsody 04. • Audience 9.1 - A concert recording that defines the term “immersive”. So, you are basically transported back in time and placed into a seat pretty close to the stage, sitting next to a couple of enterprising tapers. The audience is a part of this experience, it’s open, vibrant, clear, and dynamic and you are right in the middle of it all. Dang, you really should dive into this one if you do not have it.
  • Audience 8.3 - A tape that one must admire for sheer effort, capturing an entire performance of what had to be an enormous venue filled with screaming people…not the best environment to do field recordings!  The music, however, is here, in average fidelity but not obscuring the excellent performance given by the band. • Soundboard 9.7 - This is the one to get if you want to hear this band at arguably the peak of their powers. Sounding like a flashier, somewhat more progressive version of Iron Maiden to these ears, but whoa nelly there is a whole lot of premium quality musicianship happening and it is happening in fantastic quality. Most recording of busy, progressive metal groups simply have a hard time mixing the different instruments in such a way as to deliver the punch without over-killing it and destroying the integrity of the sound. This recording is brilliant because it doesn’t do that, and I honestly have never heard live early Queensyche in this manner before and it is a thrill, it’s a MUST have if you have even a passing interest. • Soundboard 8.9 - There is no problem with the audio fidelity of this title, it sounds great – but that is not to say there is not a problem with it. So, it’s basically like this: If you want to hear what Radiohead themselves consider their biggest ever gig, than you will have to deal with what sounds like a quadraphonic recording in stereo…which basically means you get an in/out phasing effect almost throughout the entire show. Is that a deal-breaker?  It might be, then again it’s not a muddy audience tape it is a very good board so the negative effects are not nearly as horrible as they could be. Radiohead 1993-04-02 Tel Aviv, Israel 01 - You 02 - Prove Yourself 03 - Ripcord 04 - Vegetable 05 - Faithless, The Wonder Boy 06 - Creep 07 - How Do You 08 - Stop Whispering 09 - Lurgee 10 - Million Dollar Question 11 - Anyone Can Play Guitar 12 - Pop Is Dead 13 - Thinking About You 14 - Killer Cars 15 - Banana Co. 16 - The Bends 17 - Blow Out 18 - Creep 19 - Rhinestone Cowboy
