• Audience 8.1 - Yes this is ranked pretty low on the sound quality scale, but it’s not a disaster because this is actually a full point or more better than the previous version of this legendary gig. It’s not unlistenable, and the proof is that you can hear every word Gabriel says during his stories. Extensive work in repairing and remastering this from a 1st generation tape made all the difference. Rediscover the earliest known live Genesis recording because for historical purposes there is no more significant a recording than this. • Audience 9.5 - Listening to this recording made me think for a second I was listening to classic Gabriel era sans Peter Gabriel (he’s backstage nursing cold) ha ha!  What I mean is, the performance and setlist is reminiscent of an earlier time because the band seem to be playing the songs as if for the first time. It’s just great to hear – and the sound quality is top shelf. • Audience 8.6 - Solid, with some tape squeals here and there about halfway in that do go away. A good solid recording here.
  • Audience 8.7 - Sound resides somewhere in the mid range and does not feature well defined high end but does have a warm, round bottom to it. The mix does not favor any one instrument, it’s rather even, and all in all the listening experience, while not exceptional in any way, is also not offensive. • Audience 9.5 - Wonderful in every way, as good as an audience recording can be from 1975.
  • Audience 8.0 - Reasonably clear but there’s that lack of wideness that characterizes a recording captured with condenser mics on cheap decks. But it is not bad for a 1972 recording at all. All can be heard!
  • Audience 9.2 - A lively, airy, and detailed (especially with percussion and vocals) recording. I don’t think they could have done much better than this because the taper position is right in the sweet spot. • Audience 7.0 - Compressed sound, but it’s a killer show and the first time Gabriel wears the fox costume on stage. Historic.
  • Audience 8.6 - This old tape has been extensively reworked to present a fan favorite in as good of quality as ever. It’s not a great tape recording but it’s actually kind of a charmer, this is due in part because this old theater was a favorite venue for many of the classic UK prog and Canterbury groups of the time. It’s a very appealing concert, you can kind of sense the band relishes it. • Audience 8.2 - A tiny bit of overload in the very lowest frequency (kick drum) but all the music is here and pretty clear too. Decent tape, nothing spectacular.
  • Audience 8.4 - Good mix, everything clear and strong albeit somewhat one dimensional.
  •  Pro FM 9.6 - Sound quality is absolutely spot on but so is the band. They were well rested and rehearsed, and it clearly shows with stunning accuracy and a packed set list too. Get this!
  • Audience 9.2 - This merits quite a bit of adoration for hardcore fans and collectors because it is a beloved show that fell through the cracks of time due to it being so incomprehensibly cut up. We don’t know why it was that way, and therefore an otherwise excellent tape was relegated to the proverbial dustbin…until today. The composite was done by an adoring fan with an ear, by taking bits here and there from other recordings only days apart from the Chicago date, was able to manage a very compelling final product. • Audience 9.0 - This is a wonderful recording in almost every way. The sound balance is impeccable. The only complaint is a little crispiness when hard cymbal crashing, otherwise CRANK it!
  • Audience 7.2 - Better gear would have helped this taper – when the band is quieter it is very listenable the problem is the bandwidth collapses during volume and there is already a narrow sound field to this tape so…do the math.
  • Audience 8.7 - A good and clear sounding tape here, some very minor crackle noise now and then but that is quibbling. This is a great tape, limited only by typical analog tape sonic limitation (where it kind of narrows the bandwidth of the entire frequency range, although it is clear, it lacks that hi-fi punch).
  • Audience 7.4 - My oh my what a difference technology makes! I remember in the early days of my collecting music, and I mean on cassette tapes mind you, this show was one that I just would not even listen to out of curiosity. It was “file under abysmal” and that was it. Now, this new transfer from the master, and a prudent digital re-mastering has brought out actual music here! In fact, it’s not even that horrendous and you will actually listen to it. One brief moment really struck me, and it was the last fading seconds of the recording when you hear the enthusiastic shouts from the audience as the intense sounding Hammond organ notes fade out. This reminded me of just how powerful a Genesis show was in 1972, and we do not appreciate that because there are no analog recordings that can accurately reproduce that intense sound. We have to use a little imagination, but sometimes we do catch glimpses of it.
  • Audience 9.3 - The second this begins you know it’s gonna be great, and it’s better than great. I’ve heard radio broadcasts that don’t sound as nice as this. I need atmosphere, I want to feel the space around me, the venue itself is a part of the event. Audience tapes of high quality can sometimes deliver more atmosphere than the best soundboard, and sometimes it’s necessary if you want to relive an event to have that atmosphere included in the recording. • Audience 7.6 - Obviously taken from a master tape, it’s a good recording that suffers from some kind of sonic limitation with the mic itself judging by the sort of squashed sound and slightly annoying quality to the timbre. Technically speaking the show is well captured and depending on one’s tolerance to the particular offending frequency, can be quite enjoyable (use an EQ to notch out the bad frequency).
  • Audience 8.8 - Wonderful and dynamic, a great show!...Selling England.
  • Audience 8.7 - Good strong and clean! Lovely!
  • Soundboard 9.0 - Not a perfect board tape, there are some signs of age present but that does not really rise to the level of annoyance…it’s present but not to a huge degree. This is a good, solid recording that many will find enjoyment from. • Audience 7.8 - Not terrible by any means, but lacks a clear distinctive sharpness even though it is a relatively clean tape (some tape hiss but not too bad). It may be that it was recorded far back from the stage, maybe in the middle somewhere, but it does have a cool atmosphere, and you do hear every instrument well, and at quieter moments the sound is not bad at all. I like this, I can get into it, even though there are better tapes of the Lamb shows.
  • Audience 9.0 - Tremendous atmosphere gives you a crystal clear impression of what this gig was like, and it is very clean sounding like a master source was used. Fantastic experience with the only minor complaint being that there are two songs missing…it happens.
  • Audience 9.1 - Excellent stuff, because you get a clean, well balanced capture with all the best elements of a live atmosphere.  Two songs ran into some problems, like a muffled sound, where maybe the taper had to hide the mic, but it recovers. • Audience 8.6 - This tape does not offer a wide dynamic range, but neither is it compressed sounding, so it’s not awful on the ears. The good thing about capturing a band like Genesis during live performances is that the PA and mix is usually good, and not a distorted metal mess, so even average gear can produce reasonably good results. • Audience 9.4 - A tape that is almost TOO good…and by that I mean it has captured with sonic clarity the exact sound coming from the P.A. – which in this case was a P.A. that had some really pumping upper mid’s and high range frequencies!  No wonder people often leave home from a concert with a ringing in their ears…for weeks!  This show would have had me moving farther back to be honest. That being said it is just my own preference for sound – but the casual listener will find this recording damagingly good. • Audience 8.9 - A very fine recording probably made with some excellent gear for the time. So, sit back and enjoy the show!
  • Audience 8.7 - This is a very strong, clear tape that captures almost too much atmosphere (crowd) and leans towards the upper-mid band frequencies a little much. That being said, I still recommend this one because the sound is good enough to be very responsive to EQ, so if you season it to taste you will end up with a very nice experience. • Pro recording 9.5 - Sizzling hot everything is expertly mixed!
  • Soundboard 8.8 - This is a soundboard that is not without flaws, not serious flaws, but indeed somewhat noticeable ones. So, it’s one of those mixes where guitar sounds at times amazing, up front, and gloriously loud…and at others it seems like it was ran through an on-board processor of some kind and ends up more compressed and lower in the mix. Rock The Nation is cut at the tail end of Ronnie’s solo, and the drum intro for I Got The Fire begins, so that was a little bit of a jarring edit that could have been smoother. Overall this is a tape, and show, that will sit nicely in the collection seeing as how there are so few Gamma sdbrds, or live tapes at all.
