The mix is good, the sound is decent, the performance is very good. I see no reason why not to have this. -

GREAT find and appreciated a little bit more being that it’s a Grace Under Pressure tour gig which for some reason there’s not a plethora of excellent recordings from this tour. -
Audience 8.5 - A decent recording that stays pretty much in the middle of the spectrum in a mildly compressed fashion…so highs are not too high and lows are not boomy. Audience 8.4 - While not nearly as spectacular as the Uniondale ’77 (a pro-mixed board btw), this is still an important tape being that it is among the last of the Kath era shows. It’s also not bad at all – in a narrow bandwidth it manages to offer decent separation of instruments and nothing annoying in the frequencies. It’s a solid capture on limited equipment and for that I give the thumbs up to the tapers. Audience 8.3 - On this tape, you will hear all instruments (guitar out front) pretty clearly, not much crispness but decent bottom end and midrange intact. Slightly muddy in the middle with occasional brighter spots (definite improvement by the beginning of disc 2) throughout as the taper moves into better position. A touch of hiss is present. Soundboard 9.1 - I am kind of doubting whether it is truly a board tape because it doesn’t have that sort of dry and immediate sound, it’s got too much atmosphere. That being said, it is definitely pro, and could be open mics placed strategically around the stage. Sounds great! -
Audience 9.7 - The question you might ask is “do I really need another version of this?” and the short answer is “Hell Yes”. Why? Audience 8.8 - A fascinating recording, obviously with high quality microphones because there’s a detail here, especially with drums and bass (managing to realistically capture the depth of bass and the precision of drums). Guitar and to a lesser degree vocals get pushed slightly behind drums and bass, and the keyboards are a little bit behind those. Not to worry, even when the guitar work is almost tough to make out (taper must have been on one side of the stage) you have to remember Gilmour plays a lot of high notes which tend to carry across any hall so they are picked up here. My opinion is that because of the elegance of the way the bass and drums are recorded, when the guitar is really present it makes for something pretty amazing when it all comes together (and it does, just not all the time). Audience 9.7 - This was broadcast live at the time but I can tell you it is not a soundboard. There is too much ambience (a small club apparently) that gives you the impression they did not even need to run a board feed for this broadcast. Audience 8.2 - This rare old tape shows signs of age, with the typical problems such as tape hiss and some dropouts occasionally but it is saved because there is music underneath it, I mean, you do hear the band reasonably well and it happens that, for whatever reason, there is no abundance of ’79 shows by this band. Plenty of 80’s, and some pre-’79 too but not a lot of 1979 gigs. Also, of note this gig was the one right before their appearance on Rockpalast.

Audience 8.7 - Recorded with reel to reel tape machine, this is actually very good although it begins with some fluctuations as the tapers settle in. They do an admirable job throughout as the tape stabilizes, they comment here and there but keep it to a minimum, as is the crowd noise. So, it’s a relaxing and enjoyable experience, the band sounding like they are not willing to sell out just yet as their set is not necessarily a top 40 showcase which is good actually. Some hits, but a lot of deep and meaningful music. Audience 8.8 - You know right away that this is a decent recording but it takes a song to find the sweet spot. You keep hoping it opens up more, and it does, and then just sit back and enjoy…until the power failure (hence the title). Things are resolved quickly though and the fun begins again.
