Audience 8.8 - A somewhat thin recording that is impressively close and clear. It has a sort of antique kind of sound, maybe like from a very high quality AM radio but don’t let this dissuade you here – this recording may not be a bass blaster but it is tight and nice…kind of intimate almost with vocals and lead guitar being super close and detailed. Interesting for sure! First Show Audience 8.5 - A jagged recording that reflects the kind of music this man played every night. It’s not super clear nor is it muddy, and it’s not dynamic nor is it monophonic. It’s a tape that seems like it has promise, if it was re-mastered I think it could be vastly improved but I like it because it’s so raw and honest…like a bar fight ha ha! The second show is also an audience recording although it is much better coming in at an 8.8 on the ratings scale. Clear, and some better dynamics going on. A good one, and a good show. Audience 9.5 - Brilliant! After sound adjustments the PA system just cranks out the best, clearest sound you could hope for. Almost everything is clear and balanced in the mix, I mean it ain’t perfect (for instance we don’t get the best balance between Keith and Ron) but it’s darn good. The sound mix has nothing to do with how well the audio capture is but it factors slightly in the rating. Cleveland 1981 is an FM Broadcast 9.2 which I had not heard before believe it or not, so, I was suitably impressed. Anyone would be appreciative! The second disc (and most of the 3^rd) is Montreal 81 and is an FM Broadcast 8.9 due to a more subdued signal that does not take away any frequency range but rather slightly compresses the sound just a bit. Now I want the listener to realize that this is a subjective opinion, technically speaking the audio here is excellent so it’s a matter of personal taste in this case. The second half of disc 3 is all studio quality. Audience 8.5 - We all are aware that this tape is not spectacular quality, it does what it needs to do and that is present a document of a great evening for Led Zeppelin. It’s quite magical in many respects, and really I think the quality is not disappointing considering some re-mastering of the tape has been done and it helps. Still this is worth having for history and for how good the band is playing. FM Broadcast 9.7-  Brilliant sound, and so nice to have this because you get the full on experience with a great band and the great back up vocals of Ruby Starr (I honestly would not have minded at all for her to be the singer and Jim the washboard player and back up singer!). Audience 8.8 - This is an interesting recording because while the guitar is very close and defined, the rest of the band is kind of floating above you. It’s as if the taper’s mic was placed in front of Jeff’s guitar cab and at the same time he was able to capture the rest of the sound through the main P.A. so it’s kind of strange. Audience 8.7 - A very clean tape recording, sonically it is extremely good for the time period. I only notice maybe vocals being a little bit underneath the music which is not a bother when you consider that most of this is instrumental anyway…however that is a minor quibble, this is a great recording for 1970. Soundboard 9.0 - Nothing inherently wrong with this board tape, it’s very much what you should expect, but there is some atmosphere that captures some of the room excitement. You won’t strain to hear anything on this recording as everything is right up front. Bass is very well rounded and tight, drums are in the pocket and guitar is blasting as only Rory can. So, it is highly suggested you grab this, ‘cause you’ll dig it.
