Aud 7.0 - Distant and muddy, but Jimi’s guitar thankfully cuts through the murkiness. If you are collecting, than you know good quality 1970 shows are in limited supply, but at least this one sort of features the guitar more or less.

Volume 3: Audience 7.6 - Bass is pumping at the expense of everything else unless the music pauses now and then which makes guitar front and center for a moment. It’s somewhat muddy, but you do hear everything happening, and the ears do adjust. It’s the worst of the three night stand. Good, at times, and worth having nonetheless.

Volume 2: Audience 8.2 - Sounds like taper attended the first two nights and had different seats each time because this one, while pretty strong, shows a rather overloaded bass signal that does not distort the tape as much as it crowds the sound field in the middle. This places guitar secondary in the mix, and vocals third. Drums sound good. The overall mix is what I would call decent for 1969 audience but not as clear as the first night.

Audience -  all shows  Berlin Aud 7.2 A reasonably clear tape, Jimi vocals come through and guitar is right up front too. Drums a little buried but you get enough to know what’s going on. Enjoyable! Cologne Aud 7.0 Mono recording without much separation of instruments, guitar being the clearest here. Hamburg Aud 6.6 Very loud and distorted recording.  Nuremberg Aud 6.7 Thin, with tape noise present, no dynamics, only Jimi's guitar is heard but it is heard clearly ringing out like he was the only one mic’d up!

Volume 1: Audience 8.4 - Very clear, especially Jeff, with Rod pushed to the background. Tends toward “shrill” with the cymbals but because it is a “hot” show with decent clarity we overlook some of the minor gripes.

Soundboard 8.9 - Great recording that is guitar centric with vocals a little behind the action. The June 15th fragment is a funky SDBRD feed with guitar panned hard right and vocals hard left. It’s also a bit harsh or I should say “biting” but it’s still a joy to hear. Jeff sounds incredible!

Aud 7.6 - Large stadium sound with that telltale reverby sound but really pretty clear with just a touch of tape saturation that doesn’t hurt too much thankfully. You can get into this one.

Volume 2:  All EXCELLENT! Must haves without question.

Aud 7.9  - You know how so many of the 68 audience tapes sound horrid?  This is not one of them!  This actually captures a moment in time where you get a real sense of the venue, and of the time. Vocals and guitar are pretty clear with some cool “hall” vibe, but not echoey just vibey. Nice!

Aud 7.3 - Gets better, is loud but not too overloaded. Small club atmosphere, a real treasure of a ’68 show.

Aud 7.0 - A touch of distortion and noisy but ferociously exciting in every way. You get a vivid sense of the electric atmosphere from the first notes. That alone draws you right into this show.

Aud 6.9 - Yeah, kinda low rating but super high energy and fantastic playing, early energy.

Audience 8.6

Audience 8.1 - This is the new remastered version that does improve upon a decent audience tape. Some tape noise was removed, and mid-high band was enhanced with good results. A good one to have, it’s pretty good.

Audience 8.7 - An explosive concert, totally off the chain here. Quality is solid, for the time period especially – a very immediate punch, very lively, lacking all the niceties for sure but you won’t care, believe me.

Audience 7.0 - Compressed, all squeezed up in the center…problem is there is just so precious few 1972 recordings and many consider this period to be very important in Beck’s career.

Audience 9.3 - Turn it up, it just gets better and better. A wide open stereo sound field lets the music breath and soar.

Audience 8.5 - Stomping show by Jeff, as you know he could be quite erratic but I think he nails it here. Good clear sound although not hi fi by any means. Add Equalizer, add low end, but it’s a good clear sound.

Audience 8.4 - A pretty loud recording, and not super defined but it’s VERY good nonetheless and well worth hearing. It certainly has a very immediate and live feel to it, even after all these years it’s as if it happened yesterday.
