• Audience 9.1 - Well captured recording that delivers that small venue dynamic, and you get that sense the band is responding to the crowd and elevates just a little more.  It’s hard to believe this was done in the mid 70’s because it sounds like it could have been yesterday. • Soundboard 9.6 - An incredible recording meets an amazing performance by a superb band. Get this now if you have any interest in progressive rock, because this is going to be a regular guest in your CD player I guarantee.
  • Soundboard 8.8 - Solid, if just slightly flat maybe and perhaps also one or two gens down but it’s a keeper and a strong show (all the Australia dates were good).

  • Soundboard 9.3 - Sweet mix here, with a great band once again allowing Reed ample room to do what he does and at the same time, show off their own chops.
  • Soundboard 9.5 - Very nice one, in all respects including a good hard rocking mix. • Amsterdam 1973 Soundboard 8.9 - Nice to have good, clean board tapes of this line up. I think this is his best band, and I think he sounds terrific here. Sheffield 1973 Soundboard 8.9 - Another great board tape featuring Lou’s best band. I love the sound of the band let alone their musicianship. Lou rises to the occasion, he knows he has to deliver or he’ll be overshadowed by these fine players. Thankfully, he actually does! • Home Recordings 8.8 - You have to give props to Lou Reed because he can take an acoustic guitar and a bedroom atmosphere and crank out demos that you can’t ignore. The songs man, he can write! • Audience 8,7 - A distant recording with that unmistakable large stadium natural reverb that makes you sort of imagine where you are as you listen and squint your eyes to see what Lou Reed is doing on stage.  The good news is that everything pretty much is audible, and reasonably clear too. The recording does lack some low end, but is not overly tinny, and drums/vocals are favored in the mix with guitars sort of chiming in just behind. If this wasn’t a clean/clear recording I would say there’s not much use for it but it has redeeming qualities and some charming renditions of some of his most beloved tunes.

  • Soundboard 9.3 - Crisp highs, great mid tones are what define this tape.
  • Audience 9.1 - Clear and sharp, right up close and full of electric atmosphere. Lovely!
  • Soundboard 8.9 - Great performance here, one of the best I have heard quite frankly. Having just ditched the classic line up, you would think a downturn in performance caliber would occur but I do not get that here at all.

  • Soundboard 9.4 - A beautiful recording, love how it just sounds so natural, it’s a joy to listen to this one! • Soundboard 9.5 - A very nice mix, as if done for a proposed live LP. Band is very tight.
  • Soundboard 9.2 - Again we find Lou and company blazing his way across Europe and leaning on some old, and some new…but mostly older tunes which always work well because there is so much room for the band to stretch out. Good stuff here. • Soundboard 9.3 - Wonderful guitar tone is the highlight here, the magical guitar interplay throughout. Seriously, it’s as if Lou’s delivery is just a setup for the band to do their thing. One of the best I have heard, right here.
  • Soundboard 8.9 - Gritty tone, I like this grungy guitar sound. Pretty good stuff.
  • Audience 8.1 - I would call this a fine recording, it captures every performer on stage as it happened, although not in the clearest fidelity, but you can really still enjoy this because it is not the kind of problem that distracts. It’s a good, not great, recording.
  • Soundboard 9.2 - The band was really up for this show, it’s pretty hot.
  • Soundboard 9.6 - A tight, expertly mixed board tape. I think how they mic’d this up to include audience was a great idea, it adds so much to this recording. Lou feeds off their excitement. Lou Reed - "Live At The Roxy" December 1,1976 Roxy Theatre, Los Angeles KMET FM Radio Broadcast   Disc 1 01 Intro 02 Sweet Jane 03 I Believe In Love 04 Lisa Says 05 Kicks 06 She's My Best Friend 07 I'm Waiting For The Man Disc 2 01 A Sheltered Life 02 You Wear It So Well 03 Claim To Fame 04 Vicious Circle 05 Heroin 06 Walk On The Wild Side 07 Coney Island Baby   Lou Reed - vocals, guitar Michael Fonfara - keyboards Bruce Yaw - bass Marty Fogel - sax Michael Suchorsky - drums
  • Audience 8.2 - A somewhat average tape that is brand new to circulation and captures a good time for Lou when he had some great songs and great players with him. Plus side of the recording is that it is low gen and clear enough to hear the band although keyboards are quite behind in the stage mix. Lou is more prominent, with bass and guitar next. A good tape for a lo-fi cassette recorder snuck into the venue in the mid 70’s. • Studio Quality 8.8 - Not quite ready for prime time, but very very good and nice to have in the collection.  Some really good playing, and if you are a fan of Lou Reed, good singing…but that’s all pretty subjective isn’t it? • Soundboard 9.7 - Just about as good as you’d ever want.
  • Audience 8.7 - Recoded on professional equipment and it shows. Crisp highs, and a good, lively atmosphere. You get a little bit of that big hall cavernous ambiance here that keeps vocals just behind the stage sound.

Soundboard 8.8 - This tape does not feature the greatest mix ever, but it’s functional and is a good full show.  Question: Was Lou Reed really well known in Australia?  A guy from the barrio of New York City, but well known in Australia somehow?!?!  I think that is strange, haha!
  • Audience 9.3 - A solid recording in a small venue that is very intimate, in fact it sounds like the drums aren’t even going through the mains they sound so natural. I could swear taper is seated right in front of the band…really surprised they aren’t discovered by Lou and arrested on the spot! Lou Reed The Bottom Line New York 5-11-77 Disc 1 1. Sweet Jane 2. • Audience 8.7 - A New York venue hosts a venerable New York artist and the result is a wild evening by all accounts. Recording captures the event admirably although taper is fighting between small club packed with rowdy folk and loud rock and roll band – thankfully band wins! Lou Reed The Bottom Line NYC, NY. • Audience 8.6 - A middle of the road tape that is missing a good chunk of the middle of the show…but he captures the last half somehow and we end up with a pretty full disc.  Effort was made to re-master this tape which ran too fast, so that is now fixed as well. This sounds much better than how it began I can tell you that!
