Audience 8.8 - Excellent recording for the time period when it seemed most audience tapes sounded very flat and tinny. This one is pretty dynamic but for one fault (not tapers fault). The PA system, while good, did not give vocals enough clarity. During quieter passages, yes, but in louder parts (most of the gig) it’s sort of indistinct, but audible and not buried (just not real distinct). I mean, he’s totally audible is what I am getting at, but for some reason I can’t make out anything he’s singing about (is this par for the course with Marillion?).  BTW the Genesis comparisons are accurate! Audience 9.3 - A sweet recording that is so comfortable to listen to, so easy on the ears with a nice rolling bass and present but not obtrusive drums. Audience 9.1 - A great sounding capture that is just a little further back than the previous night…still it’s really good because the dynamic range is wide and warm. The sound mix itself is not heavy on the guitars here, it’s really Mick and drums followed by the low rumble of the bass. Guitars are here just not the spotlight instrument which in my opinion I prefer them front and center. Alas, I found myself able to appreciate the contributions of everyone else for once. Audience 9.1 -A fantastic tape that gets the right amount of atmosphere to give you a good sense of the moment, the venue, the crowd. The quality of the sound is very clean and punchy although leans toward an upper mid band frequency at the expense of the bottom end. It’s not as full a sound as could have been but it’s an excellent quality of sound nonetheless. The music is very engaging, this is a most welcomed tape. Audience 9.8 - It’s hard to find anything that is quite as marvelous as this…seriously. You can take all your pristine board tapes and none of them come close to capturing the essence of Led Zeppelin on stage in front of an audience. This is simply a MUST HAVE no matter how many shows you have in the collection (certainly you already have this anyway) but get this one again because it’s been recently transferred from the original cassette masters and given the treatment. This could easily come out officially. BRILLIANT!!! Audience 8.6 - A new tape to circulation and a most welcomed one. It’s certainly quite different and for Zep collectors will be analyzed incessantly and be shown as a “keeper” for many reasons. Sound quality is a little hissy but surprisingly clear and without mud. Dynamically it’s not going to shatter any records but let me tell you for what this is, it offers a fascinating window into a hard-working touring band making yet another tour stop in some out of the way, random Scandinavian town nobody has ever heard of. Audience 9.1 - A strong, very clear tape which has a deep bottom end, you can feel the kick and the bass!  The band sound close, there’s no indication they are playing a large venue, it’s almost kind of an intimate sound. First Show Audience 8.5 - A jagged recording that reflects the kind of music this man played every night. It’s not super clear nor is it muddy, and it’s not dynamic nor is it monophonic. It’s a tape that seems like it has promise, if it was re-mastered I think it could be vastly improved but I like it because it’s so raw and honest…like a bar fight ha ha! The second show is also an audience recording although it is much better coming in at an 8.8 on the ratings scale. Clear, and some better dynamics going on. A good one, and a good show. Audience 9.7 - Here’s one of those timeless artists who always sounds relevant no matter the time period. A 1985 concert is a 1975 concert is a 2005 concert – consistently excellent and never selling out integrity for anything approaching chart success. This recording puts you so close, so intimate it’s really like being there in the front row. Drums are in your living room, the piano is next to you, and Pat is your best friend. Wonderful! Audience 8.8 - A somewhat thin recording that is impressively close and clear. It has a sort of antique kind of sound, maybe like from a very high quality AM radio but don’t let this dissuade you here – this recording may not be a bass blaster but it is tight and nice…kind of intimate almost with vocals and lead guitar being super close and detailed. Interesting for sure! Soundboard 9.8 - This is a close to perfect KBFH broadcast and I say that because I love the sound mix here. For me, it was important to hear the bass so nice, round, present, defined, and pumping! Of course that is not to denigrate anything else but for me I just loved the way that shone through. The band is really at the highest of heights for a band, I remember growing up in the mid 70’s and this music permeated everything. The Doobie Brothers were the house band for the United States in 1976. Audience 8.8 - This show, while not the soundboard you expect since there’s so many from this tour, is a real charmer regardless. I am not trying to sell you on this, this just captivated me and by the end of the show I felt like I somehow knew Eric personally a little tiny bit. Audience 8.8 - Taper seems to have a pretty decent set up, because this recording sounds very lively, bright, and there are enough dynamics here to satisfy. What is apparent though is that the poor taper seems to be having to deal with the Japanese phenomena of clapping during songs (not all of them, but yeah the crowd is super enthusiastic). In this sense, because it’s a good recording, I went along with the energy and excitement, settled in, and had a real good time. You will too!
