• Soundboard 9.7 - The board tapes you usually get from Rory Gallagher are just so clear and punchy because that is his tone, and if you have great sound going in, you will get that coming out as well. Here is another pristine sdbrd from the blues rock master. Rory Gallagher Budapest Sportcsarnok Budapest, Hungary 1985-01-22 Disc 1 01. Double Vision 02. Mississippi Sheiks 03. Bad Penny 04. • Pro 9.7 - Studio recordings of impeccable quality.
  • Audience 8.9 - Raging electric blues recorded as if you were right there. Fantastic!
  • Audience 8.3 - Somewhat thin and rather raucus, with an outdoor venue quality and perhaps taper somewhere right in the middle – not close up and not too far – but even so, I find the guitar almost too overwhelming and can imagine what it was for the concert-goers that day. So, if you like your guitar really loud, here is your tape. • Audience 8.6 - What is great about this tape is that again you have a situation where the highs are completely intact, in some parts maybe too much, but it lends itself perfectly to EQ’ing since you have no worry about losing highs. Great live energy, a great performance (when does he not?) also.
  • Audience 9.4 - Bright, lively, well-positioned recording that doesn't leave anything out. If anything, I would have preferred even more lower end, that being said the bass itself is detailed and clear. I also, maybe, would have equalized just a little more of the mid band and highs, rolling off them just a touch but this is a GREAT problem to have for an analog tape recording. Putting high end into the spectrum is way much harder to do than removing it. Again though, this is just seasoning to taste and the listener may find it perfect - which technically speaking I admit the frequency range is extremely intact here. • Both Shows - Audience source - 1st source 6.9 2nd source 6.4 -  Historical document! Do not confuse this with being a modern, hi-fi experience because it is most assuredly not. One of only a few 1967 shows in existence, we have two different tape sources for this one, both on one disc. That is cool.
  • Audience 8.4 - A fine document albeit not without limitations. Sound is generally clear, the mix is heavily in favor of Keith’s rhythm guitar, although Mick Taylor is not absent. Mick Jagger is audible, not clearly, but he is audible. Bass sounds pretty good, Charlie is there too but not distinctly. It’s not muddy, really, it’s not close, it’s not far – this is a very good “average” tape if that makes any sense. The Seattle portion (included in this set) is maybe in the 8.7 range, this source being a bit better than the other version we offer here. BTW I think the Midnight Rambler version here is one of the best of the tour. • Studio Quality 9.5 - A fine collection of alternate mixes with a few I’d never heard. • Audience 8.8 - I really love this recording, it has great atmosphere, and a lively, raw intensity that gets you completely sucked into the concert. The band are in fine form, the crowd seems to inspire them to great heights. A winner! Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto June 17th, 1975 Disc 1
