Audience 8.7 - There are more recordings of this band pre-1983 that post, which I find rather odd. I found this recordings to be adequate to hear what they were like in 1983, and they were good, but the recording does not highlight the vocals, rather on guitar and drums which is fine but I love this band’s vocal acrobatics and want them front and center. Sale!Soundboard 8.7 - Some hiss present, but otherwise it’s a good board tape.
-
Soundboard?? 9.8 - Hard to tell if it is pro audience or soundboard because, for one thing, it is SUPERB in every respect but the audience is clearly recorded during the end of each song which it would not be if it were a pure sdbrd. That being said, the only other thing it could be is a professional, over the air broadcast, but there is none of the typical radio compression on the tape if that is the case. This is absolutely phenomenal.
-
Soundboard 8.8 - This is a revelation. I had this tape for years and it was marred by annoying distortion in the low frequencies. This remaster cures a lot of that, and consequently you get a much more enjoyable and fun experience out of this show. You have to appreciate this band, when back in the day we rebelled against it because we hung onto our Rush, Zeppelin, Floyd and Van Halen but this music is a nod and a wink to the 60’s garage groups, just done in a ‘modern” setting. Kudos to The B52’s for having originality and humor too. Luv it.

Audience 9.3 - A great, very lively and sharp recording. I love the mix here too, drums are prominent without being boomy, guitars are complimentary and tuneful. This is a really fun hour of listening pleasure and will get repeat plays in your player for sure. The inclusion of Prince on two songs is just the icing on the cake.

Soundboard 9.0, Soundboard 9.5, Audience 7.6 - In this collection you have two excellent board tapes and one mediocre audience tape that you probably will not listen to as much as the first two discs. That is not to say the tape was not worth inclusion, but more that it was included for the sake of context since you can hear the band progressing through the years with the material. Audience 8.8 - Very exciting club shows recorded in a way that makes you wonder if the band themselves did not have it done. It is very clear, the only knock I give it is maybe the passage of time took away some of the brilliance, and/or it’s not a first gen tape…but it’s really good! Sale!Soundboard 9.1 - Technically super clean and tidy recording but it lacks that electric atmosphere you get when you allow some “room” and crowd noise in the mix. That is my personal preference, the actual recording quality is excellent with maybe a bit of FM radio compression that takes the edge off a little.
-
Sale!Soundboard 9.8 - Hard to find any fault in this recording, and the mix is a matter of preference so I leave .02 open to interpretation on the rating. It actually may be a 10 it is that friggin’ amazing.
-
Audience 8.7 This is a good and clear recording that I really like because there’s plenty of headroom so you can turn it up and it sounds even better. Taper was using good gear apparently and I thank them! Sale!Studio recordings 8.8 - sounds like a vinyl source, cleaned up for the most part.

Sale!Audience 9.5 - When you listen to this, just keep in mind it is taped by someone in the audience…you won’t believe it. Great balance, superb low end, sweet middle band tone, lush and warm with the perfect amount of high end (no sizzle or annoying squeal or cymbal wash). Just terrific, and the band sounds great!
-
Sale!Audience 9.3 - This recording effectively conveys the power and volume of the gig, with pretty much a direct blunt force to your brain. There’s not a helluva a lot of headroom in the recording meaning the levels are at peak (no clipping or distortion) so if you plan to crank it loud, just be prepared for a lot of neighborhood complaints.
-
Audience 8.6 - With the shortage of recordings spanning 2016 to now, anything is welcome including this rather spacious sounding capture. Bigger on atmosphere than super focused instruments, the vocals ring loud and clear but guitar chimes behind most of it all. Still, rather good, and I will take that!
-
Sale!Soundboard 9.5 - I believe this originates from an ALD recording, so yeah, it’s real good.
-
Sale!Soundboard 9.5 - A very good mix, if there’s any complain I can make it’s that I found the music slightly compressed in the mid frequencies but this is extreme nitpicking…just trying to find a blemish in an otherwise perfect recording I guess.
-
Audience 8.7 - What you get here is a lot of large stadium ambiance, actual recording is pretty realistic from around the middle of the venue – not overpowering and good, clear, loud enough to get a sense of the event and of actually being there. It’s good – it’s not overwhelming – just good. Not a lot of 2016 tapes out there so I like having yet another one since the band played different songs at every venue.
-
Audience 8.6 - It’s easy to find board tapes from most of their tours so I can understand why one might take a pass on an audience tape but you do get a different perspective here, it’s a “bouncier” sound, a more kinetic feel to the happenings and you know, the Cure sometimes drones on a bit so I like having a recording that helps keep things moving.
