Audience 9.5 - Listening to this recording made me think for a second I was listening to classic Gabriel era sans Peter Gabriel (he’s backstage nursing cold) ha ha! What I mean is, the performance and setlist is reminiscent of an earlier time because the band seem to be playing the songs as if for the first time. It’s just great to hear – and the sound quality is top shelf. Audience 8.1 - Yes this is ranked pretty low on the sound quality scale, but it’s not a disaster because this is actually a full point or more better than the previous version of this legendary gig. It’s not unlistenable, and the proof is that you can hear every word Gabriel says during his stories. Extensive work in repairing and remastering this from a 1st generation tape made all the difference. Rediscover the earliest known live Genesis recording because for historical purposes there is no more significant a recording than this. Soundboard 9.5 - Superb clarity and attenuation, especially where the high end is concerned. Very lifelike, no sign of radio compression which suggests this tape to be pre-FM broadcast. Audience 9.1 - A strong, very clear tape which has a deep bottom end, you can feel the kick and the bass! The band sound close, there’s no indication they are playing a large venue, it’s almost kind of an intimate sound. A superb taping job! Genesis Long Beach Arena Long Beach, CA May 24, 1980 Disc 1 01 Deep In The Motherlode 02 Dancing With The Moonlit Knight 03 Squonk 04 One For The Vine 05 Story Of Albert 06 Behind The Lines 07 Duchess 08 Guide Vocal 09 Turn It On Again 10 Duke's Travels - Duke's End Disc 2 11 Say It's Alright Joe 12 The Lady Lies 13 Ripples 14 Band Introduction 15 Misunderstanding 16 In The Cage 17 Afterglow 18 Follow You, Follow Me 19 Dance On A Volcano 20 Drum Duet - Los Endos 21 I Know What I Like

Audience 8.7 - This tape is surprisingly clear, it is not super dynamic but it is nice and clear. It’s almost like a REALLY good AM radio broadcast. It has a narrow sound field, but it is comfortable there, and comfortable to your ears. Phil sounds like he’s singing right next to you, pretty cool. Audience 8.7 - The tape is new to circulation and it’s a good one. The rating reflects only that there is a lack of dynamics in the bandwidth of the tape but the clarity is decent and it is a comfortable listen – not harsh, not muddy, not brittle…it’s a good tape and I am glad it was discovered.
