Pro 9.9 - this is unbelievably solid. Everything is in the pocket, which is awfully hard to do with a metal band. Every instrument, and the crowd mixed in to provide atmosphere. This had to be a broadcast, but it’s not from a broadcast it has to be a pre-broadcast master. I mean, it’s almost perfect. Audience 7.0 - It is one of the better early Audience recordings. Nice and clear, lots of small club atmosphere. Not too bad ! -
Audience 7.2 - A very desirable early Maiden show because it is one of the better sounding audience recordings. Very few early Maiden shows are well recorded. This one suffers from lack of bottom end but it is rather clear and thus it is sought out by collectors. -
Audiece 7.0 - Loud and noisy, but Maiden fans know all too well the kind of lo-fi muddy sound most of the early recordings suffer from, that’s why this is welcome. It is not nearly as horrid as most, in fact in places this is actually pretty decent. You do get a great feel of the hall, and the energy level, and even though it is a tad crunchy you do get most of the band. -

Audience 8.4 - Buried in a closet for decades this important document has finally surfaced. It’s, to my ears, slightly better than the next oldest live document which I believe is the Music Machine gig. The tape itself is not as bad as you’d imagine and that could be due to the diligent re-mastering that was done. The sound is not as murky and indecipherable as a lot of the other 1980 tapes. This can be appreciated, I mean, this is May of 1980 the band had yet to break open and even though they had a hardcore following, was not known outside of UK in any substantive sense. If you were a fan of Iron Maiden in these times, it’s akin to investing money in Google stock when it was first offered. Why would you? …maybe because you liked what they were doing and had a hunch. Audience 8.7 - While this tape may not enjoy the same clarity as some of the Japan 82 recordings, it does have a good powerful delivery nonetheless. Vocals come through the clearest, but the combination of bass, and guitars follows with the force of a piledriver to your skull...and I rather like it. Audience 8.1 - Not only is this incredibly important in the Maiden’s history but it’s also very listenable too. That is gotta qualify as a rarity! The band is on another level, I am 100% sure that this gig was important for all of them especially for Bruce being it was his first gig with them. GREAT playing by all I mean really great! Audience 8.9 - Taper was seated 15 rows back so this recording gets you a good clear image of the event. Being an outdoor venue, there is occasional “wind” effect that does not really bother. A solid capture! -
Audience 9.3 - Way better than what you might expect. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how clean and rather detailed this tape is. I feel like I saved some money not having to buy a ticket to the show, but even though I missed them on tour, with tapes like these I can travel in time to Italy and relive this most excellent gig! Audience 6.3 - There is music here, buried under time and dust. Understanding that we have a limited number of pre-Bruce era tapes, and that most of those sound horrid, it is suggested one must hunt down the ones that have been mastered like this one. -
Audience 8.7 - It’s hard to screw up a recording when you have good equipment and decent seats, unless you fall asleep and drop the recorder on the floor. This crew didn’t, and the results are very good to the ears. -

Audience 9.4 - This is a revelation for me. I was not too familiar with the band and always assumed they were just another “Neo Prog” band from the 80’s. Boy am I wrong! This is KILLER! The audio quality is thankfully excellent and bright so as to capture the insane complexity and brilliance of this band. Sure, there’s going to be obvious attempts to compare them to other bands but to my ears they had something unique going, while also tipping the cap to bands like Marillion, Genesis, and UK. The amount of ideas going on in each song is beyond belief. Radio Broadcast 9.3 - Some tape hiss but otherwise a beautiful full sounding set here. This music is glorious, it’s maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s very heartfelt and genuine, delicate, contemplative, uplifting. Highly recommended! Audience 9.0 - A clean and well made recording that allows for increase of volume without causing headaches! Everything is very well balanced, guitars and bass are in the pocket and drums sound spectacular. Every now and then you get that slight phasing effect that typically happens if someone passes in front of the mic...very briefly, and it does not distract. Audience 9.5 - Superb fidelity, and as always a fine performance is delivered with that trademark menacing keyboard sound. At times it could be confused with electric guitar, which is exactly what I think Gianni Leone was going for since the start of the band in 1972. Audience 9.2 - This recording has a special quality to it, it’s not that it’s technically great – the instrument separation isn’t very good but the band does project well – the thing about this tape is it feels like you are sitting just above the audience, in the middle of the room, and you hear the space around you, you have a great sense of where you are and it’s weird but you can visualize this show. I give it a high rating because this recording captures the “essence” of this moment in time in an accurate manner that allows the listener to be transported. Audience 8.2 - A good recording that gives you the whole show in clear, decent quality with maybe the only real flaw being a sort of pushed back guitar but it is there and you can get just about everything in the mix. Enjoyable! -
