Audience 9.3 - Taken from master tape, this is super clean, vibrant, and detailed – as an Italian prog recording ought to be. These guys cover a wide range of sound and style all keeping within that certain ethos of grandiose, elegant Italian rock (can get frenetic at times, complex, gentle, ethnic, it's all that and more). Audience 9.5 - Superb fidelity, and as always a fine performance is delivered with that trademark menacing keyboard sound. At times it could be confused with electric guitar, which is exactly what I think Gianni Leone was going for since the start of the band in 1972. CD 1 Audience 8.8 - A very good, bright, well balanced recording. Most welcomed because for me, it’s this time period (actually 1970-73) of the band I like the most. CD 2 Audience 8.1 - A somewhat flat, and a little bit muffled recording. I can still hear everything, it lacks dynamic range, but I did not find it annoyingly so, just when compared to disc 1 this one sounds lifeless. Audience 8.6 - Small club vibe and really good sound with an emphasis on percussion clarity and presence. Recording leans to the mid and upper end but it’s not too brittle there, so it’s very comfortable but can use some added low end anyway. Aside from that, this is quite good. Led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass. The Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. Their debut album was in 1980. But in 1982, the band were reduced to a four-piece. The Furs did find success in the US with their next release, 1981's Talk Talk Talk, which included the original version of "Pretty in Pink", which was later re-recorded for the 1986 movie soundtrack "Pretty in Pink". This movie would help launch Molly Ringwald's acting career. -
Audience 8.4 - What saves the recording is the fact that it is clear, like virtually no muddiness, although the sound mix itself lacks definition except for Steven and Joe who are like rays of light peering through your window. The drums are good too, all in all it is hard to say this is not a necessity, it may not be but it’s very interesting and certainly of good enough quality to keep you engaged. Recorded in 1977 by a group of musicians who brought different perspectives into the equation. Very much an English folk psyche type of record but features a lot of Eastern influence with the introduction of Sitar, and tablas (and other sounds), an ethereal vibe permeates as Moog synthesizers weave in and out of the music. Lots of heavy, mystical vibe on this one. -
Soundboard 9.6 - I was unfamiliar with this band, so listening to this stuff was a real eye (and ear) opener for me. They are quite good! The sound quality is excellent as is the mix.
