FM Broadcast 9.5 - This is kind of like the Red Bull of rock in the mid 80’s. In hindsight, you could say it was cool that even when these guys had some very anthemic rock numbers (and some with cheesy lyrics), they at least had a heavier approach to the music. The sound quality is excellent here and it seems to me if you have any interest in mid 80’s hard rock/aor/metal, this band would be and should be on your radar and then by extension you would seek out something like this FM broadcast. Soundboard 9.6 - I was unfamiliar with this band, so listening to this stuff was a real eye (and ear) opener for me. They are quite good!  The sound quality is excellent as is the mix. Everything was in the best place for maximum enjoyment. Highly recommended. Soundboard 8.8 - This is more than likely exactly what you would have heard had you bought this comp back in the 80’s. It has remained true to the original 1972 US Tour boot, which as you know gathers the soundboards from the tour and compiles them in such a way so as to present a dream set list (no song duplication). Audience 8.6 -A sonic blast not held back by some of the typical limitations such as the actual venue itself which is notorious for sounding more like a gymnasium than a concert hall. Tape cannot be faulted for being muddy, it’s not very clean, but that is due to proximity to PA and unprofessional gear. That being said, the tape scores high in terms of sheer electricity and fun…once your ears adjust, yeah, but what a ride!  Band did not know they were being taped by someone so I guess this is a pretty honest performance. They sound very primitive, underground, gritty…and I guess that is why Cooper made changes because perhaps that style and sound was getting outdated on such a large caliber tour. Personally, I much prefer this honest, maybe if a bit more crude, band sound. FM Broadcast 9.2 - A great recording that captures the atmosphere and the thrilling musicianship brightly, if maybe a touch too boldly on the meters…no worries, there’s nothing to interfere with your listening pleasure. The band…did not know much about them but they sure have the chops. I get a little bit of a sort of Whitesnake influence, but not any of the trademark cheesiness. Jake E. Lee is very acrobatic without unnecessary shredding, I would not call his playing shred at all in fact. It’s actually quite tasteful and great use of effects…thrilling at times, and very few dive bombs and when he does it’s in and out, they don’t overstay their welcome. I could say that for the songs too, they all have good balance and set up all the solos nicely. They even cover Purple Haze…umm…maybe they should have left that one alone. But everything else is tops. Audience 8.2 - What was once completely unlistenable has now revealed itself to be a tape that contains music and audible sounds…and sound that can be deciphered easily…although clearly not in any kind of high fidelity. Still what you get from this tape is a VERY obvious indication that Bowie knew where music was headed, and in real time is literally creating a new genre and the audience is in pure ecstasy. Audience 8.2 - Not the best tape by any stretch but it’s also a scarcity…very few World Invasion Tour tapes survive and this one does have a couple of things going for it –first, it is NOT muddy!  It’s not distinctive, but that is not the same as muddiness. It’s a “clear” tape that is just not from close up, and is not done on professional gear. I started listening to this thinking “oh man” but believe it or not you will find a reason to continue on through the whole show, especially when Dave rants about his little problem in Cincinnati the night before.
