Audience 7.0 - Compressed, all squeezed up in the center…problem is there is just so precious few 1972 recordings and many consider this period to be very important in Beck’s career. -
Audience 9.3 - Turn it up, it just gets better and better. A wide open stereo sound field lets the music breath and soar. -
Audience 8.5 - Stomping show by Jeff, as you know he could be quite erratic but I think he nails it here. Good clear sound although not hi fi by any means. Add Equalizer, add low end, but it’s a good clear sound. -
Audience 8.4 - A pretty loud recording, and not super defined but it’s VERY good nonetheless and well worth hearing. It certainly has a very immediate and live feel to it, even after all these years it’s as if it happened yesterday. -
Audience 7.8 - Good and clear but missing some fatness in the bottom. Still a good one and the band is hot. -
Audience 8.0 - Reasonably clear but there’s that lack of wideness that characterizes a recording captured with condenser mics on cheap decks. But it is not bad for a 1972 recording at all. All can be heard! -
Audience 7.3 - A good remastering would help this one a lot. There is a lot to work with, Jeff is actually up front in the mix, followed by Rod Stewart. -
Audience 7.4 - Noisy recording from very close to stage, but it’s so raw and energetic you get sucked into it immediately. A jolly good show! Clear, loud, and tons of fun to listen to. -
Audience 7.1 - A mediocre recording with some tape hiss present, and bass distortion that is present but thankfully is very minimal. Guitar work is great and is not buried in the mix. With some remastering this could be a lot better. The performance is worth the price of admission- definitely one of his better shows. -
Audience 8.6 - Pretty hot levels on this one, but it is clear and good balance of instruments with plenty of low end and highs (slightly overloaded but not distorted). -
Audience 8.8 - Clean, good and punchy sound with plenty of hot, live atmosphere. On one or two songs Jeff’s solo gets lost, but it does return thankfully. -
Audience 8.6 - Good strong recording with a bit of atmosphere too. This is one you can sink your teeth (or ears) into. -
Audience 8.4 - Captures all the stage action with clarity but maybe not so much of the dynamics, so add just a pinch of your own Equalizer (maybe more bass) it will dramatically improve this already decent recording. -
Audience 7.7 - Suffers from a lack of clarity of instruments and a little bit of large hall echo, with bass being in the forefront but not a boomy bass so that is good. -
Radio Broadcast 8.8 - Very nice, with only maybe a little bit of that typical analog tape compression keeping anything from soaring too high. Anyway, it is delightful and sure to please. -
Audience 8.6 - A solid large hall recording. -

First Show: Audience 7.3 / Second Show: Audience 7.9 - This one is much clearer, but both shows are going to be good for those who appreciate the pre-Deep Purple Tommy Bolin. -

Italy Prog Fest 1972: Volume 1,2,3 Audience 7.5 - The stuff that dreams are made of! How long I have waited for something like this to materialize. I mean, I have been listening to and collecting these bands for ages and now I get to hear a full on multi-artist concert experience by all of the era’s top artists at the zenith of the prog rock movement. How cool is that? What a set this is too! The quality of presentation equals the unquestionable importance of this as a document of an important time for rock music. Thank you to whoever recorded this, and thank you to whoever packaged the recording like this. Audience 8.9 - Taper was seated 15 rows back so this recording gets you a good clear image of the event. Being an outdoor venue, there is occasional “wind” effect that does not really bother. A solid capture! -
Audience 8.7 - It’s hard to screw up a recording when you have good equipment and decent seats, unless you fall asleep and drop the recorder on the floor. This crew didn’t, and the results are very good to the ears. -
Soundboard 9.6 - Darn is this great! ... the mix let’s you hear the lead work in fine detail. -
Audience 7.0 - Indispensable for the Iron Maiden collector. Is it perfect? No, far from it. This is one of the earliest recorded gigs that you can possibly HEAR. -
Audiece 7.0 - Loud and noisy, but Maiden fans know all too well the kind of lo-fi muddy sound most of the early recordings suffer from, that’s why this is welcome. It is not nearly as horrid as most, in fact in places this is actually pretty decent. You do get a great feel of the hall, and the energy level, and even though it is a tad crunchy you do get most of the band. -
Volume Two: Audience 7.6 - Just a touch better than Volume one, suffers from the same limitations but has a slightly more open sound. -
Volume One: Audience 7.4 - Thankful for these Japanese tapers who had the best gear at the time. Reasonably clear if a little squashed, it nevertheless is way better than 85% of the early Maiden audience recordings. -
Audience 7.0 - Kind of like the Rainbow show, it is clear and one of the other decent early shows from an audience source. Again, not much bottom end here, but you can hear all instruments clearly. -
Audience 6.0 - Poor recording but it’s all we have. For collectors only. -
Audience 5.0 - Low fi, but so few good recordings from the early days. The lead work is the clearest sound on this, vocals non-existent. Can appreciate the dual guitars on this even though it is low-fi. -
Soundboard 9.7 -
Audience 8.2 - A good recording that gives you the whole show in clear, decent quality with maybe the only real flaw being a sort of pushed back guitar but it is there and you can get just about everything in the mix. Enjoyable! -
Soundboard 8.8 - A slightly aged sounding tape that received a much needed EQ and level boost recently that lifted it a full point higher ratings-wise. If you like Chicago you should like this band too. -
Audience 7.5 - Not especially great, however if you are collecting you may want to snag this if you don’t have it yet. You do hear the music, it’s not a hot mess, it’s just simply an average sounding audience show. -
Audience 8.4 - Technically speaking, there would be people that would argue with this rating but you have to account for ENERGY and VIBE and this recording bristles with swagger, sweat, and INTENSITY. -
