Audience 8.9 - A really cool recording in that keys, drums and bass sound right next to you but guitar swirls above them, and over your head, and around your ears… VERY nice atmosphere and picked up extremely well by the taper. -
Audience 7.1 - A very subdued tape, and lots of hiss that at some points is cleaner so no real stress. It is reasonably clear in that you can hear everything, just sounds like it needs a kick in the mid range or some good multi-band compression. Interesting to hear these sort of stripped down Dark Side shows. -
Audience 8.0 - A subdued recording that occupies a pleasant bandwidth for the ears but does not venture into dynamics high or low. It’s very interesting hearing these formative versions of Animals tracks, this recording does deliver enough clarity and separation of instruments to be able to appreciate the happenings on stage – and because Pink Floyd is not a “bombastic” band, you do get periods of music that rate in the mid 8’s so a good, not great, tape. -
Audience 9.1 - Excellent! Very clear, balanced, and lovely atmosphere. One that will get repeated play for sure. Audience 8.8 - A recording where the audience does get some attention but not in an obnoxious way, just in an enthusiastic way which sometimes adds to the excitement...but for some it might be a distraction. I didn't mind it, there really wasn't a particular audience member who yelled stupidly right into the mic. Thankfully the band is pretty reasonably clear, most of the time. I think there is room in your collection for this one, which won't be the best Animals show, but it certainly won't be the worst. Audience 8.7 - This is a surprisingly clear tape with a superbly detailed bottom end and would rate MUCH higher if the sound mix brought the guitar and keys up a bit more. These complaints are not the fault of the taper or his gear, but rather the actual PA sound mix at the show, which by the way is VERY good so do not be put off at all, it’s that my preference would be for more guitars. -
Audience 8.7 - This is a very good recording that only needs more definition in the highs, but I still think this has to rank high in the pantheon of 1971 audience tapes. It’s a show that seems to invoke an almost reverential vibe in the audience, as they are quiet and respectful throughout but show bursts of appreciate at song endings. A good one, in many respects. Audience 8.7 - An interesting tape, the recording is very lifelike and captures one of the best keyboard dominate performances I have ever heard. What I mean is, the keys really come to life on this one, as opposed to being merely “sound effects”, and the rest of the band is great too. A keeper! -
Audience 8.9 - Clear and plenty of detail here with a few problems showing up only very occasionally. One thing I noticed is there is a bit of what sounds like the music is moving around overhead, what this could be is the quad system and the mic is picking up the sound as it rotates around the venue. Otherwise it’s some kind of phasing but it’s not too annoying, just wish I knew exactly what it was. -

Audience 8.7 - A decent tape that documents the first show of the ’77 Euro tour. There is a little bit of overcrowding in the mid to upper band, it’s not horrible but it prevents some of the detail in the guitar from being clearly heard. Bass sounds round and brassy, vocals are up front and clear. -
Audience 8.6 - A clear tape that EXPLODES from your speakers…but maybe because that is because the levels are really hot (but next to no distortion!) and it makes for a ridiculously electric sounding show. It’s like, man, I am here, my ears are melting and my mind is blowing! Way better than the previously circulating high gen tape, this is from the master reels and it shows. Audience 9.5 - a legendary recording that has been carefully treated by sensitive ears not wanting to revise history but to bring out every possible nuance, and succeeding. One to have for sure. The second show is also great, ranking a solid 9.2 but also well worth diving into.

Audience 8.9 - This sounds WAY much better than I remember it sounding, but then I first heard this show about 25 years ago so I guess it’s quite possibly a new source or an amazing remastering. Either way, this is certainly VERY worthy of appearing in your collection as it captures that open air festival vibe, and the band…Gilmour is inspired as his solos pierce the air with ferocity and guile. Bass sounds right on point here, and drums are perfectly balanced and placed in the mix just behind the others so to give those sounds center stage. Keys are much more present during the quieter passages, but they have a nice feel to them. All in all, this is great great great stuff. Audience 8.6 - This is an untouched, raw transfer straight from the reels, and as such it will sound like it could be MUCH better sonically with some professional sound re-mastering. Many people will no doubt want to hear it as it was recorded, and it is good, it’s really pretty good, but what I would prefer is a sonic facelift because I think this one really deserves it. It’s still a great show. Audience 8.6 - This recording is very warm, although it does not have really defined highs so that may be what keeps this from an excellent rating although I must say it is a great listen, I think most people will really get into this one. Audience 8.6 - The best part of this tape to me is the richness of the bottom end, nice and round, deep, very very nice. The rest is good too, just maybe not as articulate as the bass sound, with some audience chatter during the show, and a spacious but not reverb drenched atmosphere. One of the great ones!
