• Soundboard 9.0 - A large, open air festival “board” tape which probably uses some open stage micing. I would venture to guess this must have been a difficult show to control, and a recording made with an eye for a broadcast that they fought with every step of the way. That said, it’s pretty good stuff under all the circumstances. • Audience 9.5 - Astounding! This, this is beyond devastating. Personally, I have to put this right up there with hearing Museo Rosenbach for the first time. How do I arrive at this?  Because, in 2021 you sort of don’t expect this old 70’s era Italian prog band to move the needle other than just reliving past glories. Oh how wrong that is…for starters, their SOUND is massive, powerful, dynamic, energetic, and TIGHT. Their material is amazing, complex, unpredictable, moving, and absolutely just devastating. I challenge anyone to find a modern band that can pull something like this off with such panache. Heavy is more than just distortion folks…it’s a lot of stuff and these guys just know what heaviness is from decades of experience. • Soundboard 9.6 - I was unfamiliar with this band, so listening to this stuff was a real eye (and ear) opener for me. They are quite good!  The sound quality is excellent as is the mix. • Recorded in 1977 by a group of musicians who brought different perspectives into the equation. Very much an English folk psyche type of record but features a lot of Eastern influence with the introduction of Sitar, and tablas (and other sounds), an ethereal vibe permeates as Moog synthesizers weave in and out of the music. Lots of heavy, mystical vibe on this one.
  • Studio Quality 9.5 - The first disc in this collection is referred to as “Revamped” because it extracts the most robust and complete takes, fixes where need be, and assembles in a way that most closely resembles a coherent project. Purists may opt for the more conventional outtake compilations contained on discs 2 and 3, but therein lies the beauty of this collection. It presents a much more interesting picture of what was and what could have been…notwithstanding the official release of Paul Kantner’s album. • Soundboard 9.5 - A professional recording that has a real 1974 mix – sound engineers might understand what I am saying. Naw, I mean, it’s super clean and tight but it also has a certain kind of “dated” sound, and it really feels like a small venue to me…but these are PLUS marks!  It’s for those reasons I love it. • Studio Quality 9.5 - A fine collection of alternate mixes with a few I’d never heard. You have to be pretty well versed to know what is different on some of these, but yeah, there’s different layers to explore. The Rolling Stones TRACK LIST: 1. Brown Sugar - 4:05 2. "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" is a Mick Taylor live version with Keith Richards recorded in New York '86.
  • Soundboard 8.6 - This sounds VERY 80’s, I mean, it sounds pretty dated…but good quality. I guess they were not too bad, kind of simplistic maybe in a Twisted Sister kind of way, but the guitarist pulls out some tasty solos. Autograph Live Cameo Theater, San Antonio 1/11/1985 1 Send Her To Me 2 Thrill Of Love 3 Cloud 10 4 Friday 5 Deep End 6 my Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me 7 Turn Up The Radio 8 Take No Prisoners 9 Crazy World
  • Audience 8.4 - What saves the recording is the fact that it is clear, like virtually no muddiness, although the sound mix itself lacks definition except for Steven and Joe who are like rays of light peering through your window. The drums are good too, all in all it is hard to say this is not a necessity, it may not be but it’s very interesting and certainly of good enough quality to keep you engaged. Aerosmith Aladdin Theatre, Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. • Audience 8.6 - Small club vibe and really good sound with an emphasis on percussion clarity and presence. Recording leans to the mid and upper end but it’s not too brittle there, so it’s very comfortable but can use some added low end anyway. Aside from that, this is quite good. Led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass. The Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. Their debut album was in 1980. But in 1982, the band were reduced to a four-piece. The Furs did find success in the US with their next release, 1981's Talk Talk Talk, which included the original version of "Pretty in Pink", which was later re-recorded for the 1986 movie soundtrack "Pretty in Pink". This movie would help launch Molly Ringwald's acting career.
  • Audience 9.7 - This recording is a sonic treat for your ears. The band performs a percussive style of music that is picked up by tapers equipment in a most dynamic way, with beautiful tonal quality, separation of instruments, and atmosphere. A winner! • CD 1 Audience 8.8 - A very good, bright, well balanced recording. Most welcomed because for me, it’s this time period (actually 1970-73) of the band I like the most. CD 2 Audience 8.1 - A somewhat flat, and a little bit muffled recording. I can still hear everything, it lacks dynamic range, but I did not find it annoyingly so, just when compared to disc 1 this one sounds lifeless. • Audience 9.5 - Superb fidelity, and as always a fine performance is delivered with that trademark menacing keyboard sound. At times it could be confused with electric guitar, which is exactly what I think Gianni Leone was going for since the start of the band in 1972. • Audience 9.3 - Taken from master tape, this is super clean, vibrant, and detailed – as an Italian prog recording ought to be.  These guys cover a wide range of sound and style all keeping within that certain ethos of grandiose, elegant Italian rock (can get frenetic at times, complex, gentle, ethnic, it's all that and more). • Audience 9.5 - Outstanding! Great atmosphere, and being in Europe, an older audience, a classic symphonic hard rock/prog rock band, well you inevitably will end up with a very desirable recording and performance. • Audience 9.5 - Beautiful sound, excellent performance. A venerable Italian prog band that achieved critical success by virtue of having composed soundtrack music for horror films in the 70’s. • Soundboard 9.7 - Spectacular! They play what sounds like, to my ears, the same vintage equipment they must have used originally, or maybe their equipment was new in 1973 but I guess it is vintage now…as are the dudes ha ha! Anyway, this is simply a MUST if you love classic heavy Italian prog of the 70’s. • Audience 9.5 - Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The only thing that prevents an even higher rating is some occasional conversation around the taper, not that it ever rises to an infuriating level or anything, but it sometimes calls to your attention. I still can’t figure out the concertgoer who simply cannot focus their attention on the performance they have spent good money on seeing and hearing. • Soundboard 9.6 - Just like their masterpiece album “ys”, this recording has a sinister, haunting kind of vibe. They pretty much do the entire album, with a couple of non-LP songs included as well (and both are good). Il Balleto Di Bronzo Nearfest 2000 Zoellner Arts Center Bethlehem, PA. • Audience 8.4 - This tape takes a song to find its sweet spot (relatively speaking), so I give full credit to the taper for having the sense to make sure he was going to get the best capture he could get. What I like about this is that it’s not a muddy mess, it is bright, it’s present, and I think a very worthwhile addition to the collection especially considering it’s from 1972 which was, arguably, one of the Stones’ best tours. • Private recording 8.7 - This is a cool piece of history, and the sound quality does not play that big of a role even though it is decent. It’s kind of loud, a little overloaded in spots, but just because it is raw, it doesn’t mean it ain’t great. I had this on vinyl decades ago and it was one of my favorite boots. It’s just a band, like any other (let’s pretend) jamming away in rehearsal. It’s just the coolest thing. The Rolling Stones '1968 Surrey Rehearsals' R.G. • Audience 8,4 - Somewhat distant, but not the kind of distant that means taper is in nose bleed section, it’s still pretty clear. Fidelity is decent, not a real “full” sound but I got everything including piano in this. There’s some hiss, in the background mostly while music is playing it’s not a bother. I think most fans are going to appreciate this tape, it’s good. The Rolling Stones - Mannheim, September 3. 1973 CD 1: 1. Intro 2. Brown Sugar 3. Bitch 4. Gimme Shelter 5. Happy 6. • FM Broadcast 9.5 - Even though this is excellent broadcast quality, there are some moments where the sound kind of briefly drops in level perhaps due to inconsistencies with the venue P.A. system (that is to say, the sound man has to quickly lower or raise the master volume on occasion) but it doesn’t hurt this show a bit. • Audience 7.8 - The venue had a pool in front of the stage, so it stands to reason audience taping had to be midway back making for a not so great sound quality although listenable (not distorted, not horribly muddled) and historic (a unique venue that played host to top tier artists in their prime).  The tapers sound like a couple of English gents speaking throughout the show in their proper English which makes for a fun commentary of the show…I mean, it’s half the fun of this recording! A neat little piece of rock history here. Not essential, but kinda neat. • Audience 8.3 - Distant, with a limited bandwidth that keeps the sound from really opening up wider. It’s not the worst of the tour, the music is listenable, in fact guitars ring out nicely but the vocals are too distant. You will need to turn up the volume on this, where it actually sounds better the louder it is (strange because you would think it would magnify the flaws but it helps in this case). • Audience + FM Interview 8.9 - The big question then is “if I already have the show, do I need this”?  Quick answer is “yes, kind of”. If you collect live shows because you want to experience that moment in time, then you want this. Firstly, it’s direct from original masters, as is the rare FM interview, it’s in the proper running sequence, and it edges the well circulated “Santa Monica” title by a smidgeon in terms of quality. It also presents a day in the life of the band, then still two years shy of releasing their world famous masterpiece and becoming obscenely wealthy and…different, or I should say “indifferent”.
