Audience 8.2 - A loud and raucous tape, with a band of noise in the upper mid frequency that prevents better separation of instruments. Saving grace? Duane is the clearest instrument on this recording – in fact it is his guitar that soars over the sound to the degree that you almost inevitably focus solely on him throughout. As it happens, Gregg’s vocals are next up in the mix. Soundboard 8.8 - It’s a board tape, a little on the flat side but if you want to hear the whole band and what they are playing I guess this one is going to be right on point for you. Audience 8.8 - A fierce sounding tape that has been re-mastered and shows some depth and instrument separation that previously was not there. The vocals at times are drowned out in the sheer onslaught of bass, drums, and guitars. The band even reminds a little of Deep Purple (check out “Every Hungry Woman” as a prime example) with keyboards featuring prominently so be ready for what is best described as heavier than normal Allman Brothers. Audience 8.8 - A great, atmospheric and electrically charged show! Not a lot of heaviness to the bottom, but there is a roundness there, a pleasant to the ears mid rangy kind of sound with a lot of articulation on the high end (not shrill!) which causes the slide work from Duane to fill the hall and make for tons of electricity. Collectors will love this one. Now, one small thing to report, there is sometimes some minor static on the tape (barely noticeable) but it’s no bother. Get this! -
Soundboard 9.0 - Many people who collect this band’s live recorded works would probably all agree that the 80-81 period is the least favorite, but maybe that is because they never heard this one. This is new to circulation, and it is not without flaws (a few songs fade in, and it is a touch on the “hot” side) but I think it delivers where it counts. I particularly found the drums to be emphasized in a good way, you can feel them, and therefore it lends a heavier feel to the songs, including the seldom played songs they were showcasing from the latest album.

Audience 7.5 - Serviceable tape that at times shows its age with some telltale squeaking at the beginning. Gives you a pretty good representation of the show without offending , but the mix has vocals kind of low, and overall is a touch on the dark side but Duane’s playing is the focus, where it is front and center in the mix. -
Audience 8.1 - This is actually an admirable capture, getting the entire performance with relatively few (if any) cuts. The tape is not that bad, it is just pretty old and struggles to contain the entire frequency spectrum so you get a tiny bit of “static” where the band is really loud and jamming. It’s pretty clear though, and thankfully the guitars shine through well, with a good rounded bass holding down the lows. -
Soundboard 9.2 - A good tight mix that emphasizes the vocals and Duane which I am 100% ok with! A joy to listen to. -
Audience 9.0- The band taped these rehearsals which consist of writing, ideas, smoking lots of dope, jamming, and smoking more dope. -
Audience 9.3 - Excellent quality, in fact I think this is a professional recording done on or very close to the stage. It has certain tell-tale qualities, like there being minimal audience noise and very clear, well-balanced band. Good mix here, even without Duane present I think most listeners will find this most welcome especially considering two songs are played featuring Johnny Winter. Audience 7.0 - Somewhat distorted due to proximity to the stage and volume. The tape is clearly overloaded and struggling here. Now the good news – this is a Duane Allman showcase, and he is clear on this tape! It’s a keeper, but not winning any prizes. -
Audience 7.4 - Pretty average recording, a touch distorted, but Duane comes through it all which is what you want. -
Soundboard 8.8 to 9.1 - Some fluctuations here and there but overall it’s the stuff everyone wants, good clean and loud vintage Allman Brothers. Thank you sir may I have another?
