Audience 8.4 - This is a tape that fits the Stones image, it’s rough, raw, and loaded with chaotic energy. It has flaws, but it recovers and gets back onto your good side. You will get used to the screaming chick, thankfully her howls are spread out. Try not to get too wrapped up into the occasional drop out or glitch because you can really get sucked into this concert if you let yourself. French Radio Broadcast 8.4 - The recording does not sound what you would expect a broadcast to be, it sounds like an audience recording honestly. Then, you have to listen past the announcer comments (in French) between songs, and sometimes chiming in at the end, and beginning of the next song. Annoying, but I guess a small price to pay for having the priceless recordings of classic live Rolling Stones of this early vintage. I did notice the quality to be much better than the way I remember it being when these this first surfaced. Soundboard 9.0 - This recording, to me, sounds like it was in a television studio for a live audience. I can’t tell for sure, but it is the way the audience reacts and the type of reverb going on. Audience 8.8 - A nice surprise this one – I was much more familiar with a tape from a later show during this run, but this one sounds lively and clear as a bell. It has a great live atmosphere which for me is a huge plus, so long as it is not boomy or has too much big hall “verb” and this one has the perfect amount of everything good. Lovely! Pro Studio 9.5 - This collection would be for the person who does not wish to sift through exhaustive comps of early B-sides and studio sessions. Rather, it showcases a cross section of his early sessions designed to reveal only the highlights. It’s certainly easier to tackle especially if you plan on bringing the disc for a road trip.

A limited edition offering from Houston based ShroomAngel Records. This band was one of the "inner loop" bands that began pushing boundaries in the local scene with their hybrid style, born out of two worlds - the growing "grunge" sound pioneered by Janes Addiction (which you can hear in their sound especially vocals) and Mudhoney among others, but also in old guard punk and hard rock, which you also get reminiscences of in their sound. The music even crosses into some psychedelic territory, it's pretty much an amalgamation of several styles that sometimes adds a sort of exotic feel, but with an anxious, almost paranoid underpinning. -
Dweezil Zappa Denver 2014 Audience 9.7 - Exceptional audio, this one has great balance of instuments, while the band is very tight. -
Aud 8.9 - This was probably recorded on a reel to reel, who knows it could have even been Jimi’s machine? Very good quality! -

Radio Broadcast 8.3-9.0 - Very old, and quite rare source material means a little analog degradation in the earlier broadcast but gets much better for the rest of the material. -
Audience 8.6 - This is a very fine recording that has recently surfaced, a tour that had the band displaying their absolute mastery of the ultra complex progressive rock extravaganzas that sometimes took up nearly the entire side of an LP. Audiences back then were fully engaged with such performances, unlike today.

Soundboard 8.7 - A tape that is a little hissy, and some of the instruments are low in the mix (vocals) but, on the bright side, the guitar is pumped way up (and sounds killer), and the band is in a GREAT mood! -
Soundboard 9.1 - The source used for this CD is a DAT tape made from a direct transfer of Joey Molland’s tapes of the show. Whether that means it is the same as what else is out there, I do not know, but it is possible that the radio station did their own recording for broadcast and other releases use the FM broadcast. This is not that! The sound quality is uneven at times while the levels are adjusted but after that it’s smooth sailing. -
2 Shows: CD 1 - Audience 8.3 - A very good, reasonably clear tape that does not showcase a wide dynamic range but doesn’t really need to, I mean to say, it’s an historic artifact that most fans and collectors of Love/Arthur Lee will be very happy to hear. CD 2 - Audience 8.1 - This tape starts off kind of rough but gradually gets better until it gets to a consistency that you can appreciate for what it is. It does not take much of the show before it gets better which is a relief because it is a good, strong show. Disc 3 is a video CD (MP4 file) of 6 minutes, very Rare, never before seen b/w video footage of Love a few days before the show on disc one. -
FM Broadcast 9.2 - This was a real revelation for me because I had not known much about this band other than “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”. I find them to be similar in a lot of ways to maybe Marshall Tucker Band and Allman Brothers, where perhaps if Allmans were Southern Comfort then CDB would be Jack Daniels. This period of the band features Billy Cox (Hendrix/Band of Gypsys) on bass too, which I never knew about either (I would have lost on Jeopardy). -
All video in this collection is pro shot. Disc 1 is all excellent quality. Disc 2 is more uneven, all watchable but not as crisp and perfect as the first disc. -
Audience 8.9 - A little bit of tape noise comes through on quieter passages but this is a very strong recording for the vintage. I’d like to know what the taper used for this.
