Soundboard 9.4 - A fantastic stereo board tape! I would have preferred more guitar in the mix, but it’s great nonetheless. -
Studio Quality 9.8 - Fantastic insight into the working progress of a masterpiece album. One thing that stood out for me was listening to the drums, they aren't exactly going to be the biggest takeaway when considering the performance as a whole but when they are dissected and highlighted you really understand the craft that goes into it. Let's put it this way - the drums aren't just being banged upon, they are being played. New York 1975 Audience 8.3 - Not particularly clear, but recording does have some force behind it that propels the sound into your ears, making it slightly better than your average, or mediocre 70’s audience tape, and that is really good because this is a rare one – only 4 known to circulate recordings from the US Sheer Heart Attack tour. Hear the band just before they exploded! Santa Monica 1975 Audience 8.8 - A very good recording of the rarely captured US Sheer Heart Attack tour. The band had yet to release Bohemian Rhapsody and were supporting a good record, but the greatness was still yet to come. Audience 8.4 - Unfortunately this is not the best recording. It’s a big stadium, but the flaws are not the typical big stadium flaws of too far away and echoey, rather a preponderance of bass. At times it lets up though, I mean, the rest of the band comes through (vocals being most audible) and you can hear what is going on but you have to round down some of that bass. A mastering job was done, and a lot of the boom was mitigated, and that is nice because this is the one tour that seems to be lacking in decent recordings (Jazz Tour). I’m thinking this one is for Queen completists, but with such nice artwork accompanying this title it’s worth grabbing if there is a discount going on. Audience 8.4 - Let’s face it, ever since the movie came out, recordings like these take on new significance. I just find it fascinating to hear, knowing the back story a little more. This is a very decent recording with primary focus on vocals and drums, with guitar and bass a little behind them but present enough to be able to enjoy this. You can turn the volume up, levels are good - the taper was careful! -

This is what I would call a fully immersive live recording and it’s all thanks to a fan with great gear and a passion for preservation. Great stuff! -
Audience 9.5 - Hard to really improve upon this one - it's lovely in all regards. Great, clean highs and round lows with a great mid range. It's highlighted by a respectful crowd that rarely intrudes while the band is performing but very enthusiastic between songs. Wish I was there. Audience 8.4 - The situation with this recording is that although it is really clean, like master quality clean, the clarity gets a little lost when the band is at full volume. And that is because it is incredibly “live” and atmospheric and does not focus the audio directly into the mic. So, it’s very much an experience that immerses you but lacks super tight sonic clarity but a VERY nice recording otherwise. For 1975, it’s a great capture. -
Audience 8.8 - Thrown into the middle of the action, surrounded by hyper excited Japanese teenagers, you are REALLY going to experience what this evening felt like on many levels – not least of which was the super-electrified performance of a Queen band riding the crest of a popularity wave that would last many more years. Audio quality is good enough to warrant serious investigation of this offering. Queen Budokan, Tokyo, Japan March 22nd, 1976 Disc 1: 01. Opening 02. Introduction 03. Bohemian Rhapsody 04. All Studio and/or pro live. Most of it is excellent quality, very little I would say is less than excellent. Interesting how it was compiled though, the producers opted to chronologically list the tracks according to their release date, not by actual performance date. That makes for an interesting listen. DISCLAIMER – to preserve the look of the original 6 volume set, I had to use materials available to me which were a little below the usual high standards we maintain with Wolfpodscd releases. Consequently, for anyone who purchases the complete set (at a huge discount), you will get a printed track sheet covering all volumes. -

Audience 9.1 - A concert recording that defines the term “immersive”. So, you are basically transported back in time and placed into a seat pretty close to the stage, sitting next to a couple of enterprising tapers. The audience is a part of this experience, it’s open, vibrant, clear, and dynamic and you are right in the middle of it all. Dang, you really should dive into this one if you do not have it. -
Audience 8.3 - A tape that one must admire for sheer effort, capturing an entire performance of what had to be an enormous venue filled with screaming people…not the best environment to do field recordings! The music, however, is here, in average fidelity but not obscuring the excellent performance given by the band. Soundboard 9.7 - This is the one to get if you want to hear this band at arguably the peak of their powers. Sounding like a flashier, somewhat more progressive version of Iron Maiden to these ears, but whoa nelly there is a whole lot of premium quality musicianship happening and it is happening in fantastic quality. Most recording of busy, progressive metal groups simply have a hard time mixing the different instruments in such a way as to deliver the punch without over-killing it and destroying the integrity of the sound. This recording is brilliant because it doesn’t do that, and I honestly have never heard live early Queensyche in this manner before and it is a thrill, it’s a MUST have if you have even a passing interest. London Audience 8.7 - A decent recording that remains consistent throughout. Everything comes through, albeit not with a lot of detailed anything, just good overall clarity and decent mix. I would commend the taper because I know he had to have battled with the Hammersmith Odeon acoustics, loud audience, louder band, and consumer grade gear and yet still managed a good capture. Brussels Audience 8.9 - This is a strong recording and finds the band performing at a very high level. Good sound balance, and though you get a sense of the sheer volume, it does not stress the tape. Audience 8.9 - Excellent quality, I did find it worthwhile in almost every regard but keep in mind it is a large venue so it is not a close, tight, and super dynamic recording. It is, however, clear and well done, and overall the sound is picked up well from the main P.A. system, it has force, it has clarity, it has a good "live" quality to it with all the atmosphere of being there. Soundboard 9.3 - Listen to the beginnings of something happening, you can feel it about to take off. It’s a bunch of free-thinking kids who’ve smoked a little something, maybe popped a few little somethings…and then whaddya know the blues and folk and country and all kinds of music you grew up with sounds a whole lot better if you amp it up and throw some wild licks here and there…maybe let the sound feedback some…the birth of the San Francisco sound of the 60’s.
