Kiss coming to Brazil in the early 80’s was a truly revolution! It was news all over the place! The Maracana Stadium, used for the first time on this king of show with an international act. The sound could be better if Brazilian sound engineers and broadcast equipment was better, but is decent enough for a soundboard recording. -

The mix is a bit different to the album we all know and love, but not enough to change the total badassery of the tones, complexity, inventiveness, and composition. This was ripped from a vinyl source and consequently some artifacts are present although minimized. I am inclined to believe some of this is a live in studio recording (listen to "I'm On Fire For You Baby" and tell me that is from the same concert). RCMH - Audience 8.9 - A nice atmosphere, even though it is a large hall there is a charming warmth here. Natalie's vocals carry very well, she is prominent in the mix. There is some background audience chatter occasionally that adds an element of immediacy without being a distraction. I don't usually condone chatter near the taper but the taper has done a great job with this "immersive" situation and I rather like it. Pier 84 - Audience 9.1/SDBRD 9.3 - Very similar to the RCMH show but more clarity in the high end, and slightly better separation of instruments. This is a VERY good recording that will provide many enjoyable moments for the listener. Audience 9.4 - A smooth and comfortable sound, obviously taper running great mics and in a relatively decent position. The mix favors vocals and there's a great kick drum presence that propels the music. Guitars seem to hover overhead, not bombastic but rather more subdued but not absent by any means. Audience members are occasionally heard nearby, and that reminds you that you are hearing a stealth recording albeit one done with semi-pro gear. Ohio - Soundboard 9.8 - Excellent live sound, vibrant and alive! Sounds like yesterday. Davis - Audience 8.8 - Mid size hall acoustics but a good, clear tape that probably sounds a lot like what the show actually sounded like. Taper occasionally stops machine just before some songs end (possibly trying to save tape) but the overall job done here is admirable for its stability. The liveness of the tape gives an excitement factor to the show, that counts for something too when rating a tape. New York - Soundboard 9.7 - Professionally recorded and it is obvious this could have been meant for a release or at the very least a broadcast, since most Bottom Line shows were broadcast I would say this sounds like a pre-broadcast reel. Amazing!
