• Soundboard 9.3 - Mixed well for a live broadcast, so you get a really good sense of what this band was about on the live stage. Now, I always kind of wondered really what these guys were about, and history can now reveal all of that, but my take is that they certainly owed a lot to Rush – that said they took that general presentation to a more FM friendly place. It worked for a while… Triumph Sports Arena Los Angeles, CA March 8, 1985   FM-sourced; lineage unknown

  • Soundboard 9.3 - Of course it’s great but I am not too thrilled with the sound of the drums.
  • Soundboard 9.7 - A killer one in every way, including an absolutely devastating performance delivered by the band. This is peak Triumph, and simply a must have. • FM Radio Broadcast 8.8 - A tape that has held up decently over the years but does not have the expected clarity associated with a radio broadcast. That being said, it’s still very good, has the depth and dynamics just enough for a progressive rock performance on par with the likes of ELP. Great material here…a band that should have continued on but for disco taking over and what not. • Radio Broadcast 8.3 - A few generations down, some hiss, but you will love it anyway.
  • Audience 9.6 - What makes this such an excellent recording imho is that the sound is not only really balanced, but mix-wise it is also superb. I mean, the punch of the bass, the crispness of the drums, the airiness of the keys, guitar right in the pocket…fuck what else do you want? It’s just excellence and your ears be the judge but mine are pretty spot on usually so…yeah, get this one.
  • Audience 8.4 - A rather decent tape that delivers a clear representation of the music happening on stage. I found that maybe the levels were a tad hot, but I prefer that over low levels that you end up having to crank up causing terrible hiss. This one is not suffering at all from that problem!
  • Audience 7.2 - Sound not good but artwork is spectacular. For collectors only.
  • Audience 8.8 - A strong recording, clear and a good mix allowing you to hear all of the on stage happenings. A small amount of hiss is present, but this is inconsequential especially while the music is playing. A real good one and a real good tour.
  • Audience 8.8 - The taping duo responsible for this (and many others) one really knew what they were doing. There’s a few from this venue that unfortunately have overloaded levels, but not this one. This is a smooth ride, well worth the price of a ticket!
  • Audience 7.7 - Lo-fi but surprisingly clear with a good biting guitar tone, and solid bass. Drums kind of buried.
  • Audience 9.6 - Hard to tell if this is Soundboard or Audience, it is that good. My best guess is that it is a Pro Audience, very good gear - probably open reel to reel.
  • BBC - Soundboard 9.6 - Paris Theatre, London. Another personal favorite of mine.
  • Various sources various quality but mostly very good stuff here and overall very good Audio as well. As far as live compilations go, I can highly recommend this one. Probably should be a must own for fans and a good starter for those first discovering them. One of my personal favorites.
  • Audience 8.7 - A little rough around the edges but surprisingly good for the vintage.
  • Audience 8.4 - Very good job here by an astute taper who knew to capture the opening band as well – also featured here!
  • Audience 8.8 - Perhaps lacking in sonic depth, it makes up for it in clarity and detail, the kind that allows you to hear the nuance because this band had nuance in spades.
  • Soundboard 9.5 - A wonderful set, a great board tape. If this is your introduction to Townes music, get ready to be greatly impressed with a singer-songwriter who has all the tools. Great lyrics, great delivery, great guitar playing. He was the total package. • Audience 9.4 - A fantastic, close, precise recording that really drives that funk right through the speakers. A crackling, red hot energy that taper captures admirably, I mean, it sounds like he is sitting right directly in front of the band with microphones up and the band is only too happy to oblige. • Excellent Soundboard recording of a highly regarded Texas rock group prominent in the mid '70's. They played an original, hybrid progressive, upbeat hard rock along with more Austin, Texas flavored "Tex-Mex" Southern infused rock and roll...like I said a hybrid style.  Unfortunately it did not take hold anywhere outside of Austin, so it remained undiscovered but certainly in Texas the name is extremely well respected as it should be. Well worth discovering for yourself!
  • Roslyn 1976 FM Broadcast 9.2 - Powerful! If you are not familiar with Tommy Bolin and want to learn more, start here!  If you are already on the Tommy train – keep riding!  This is unbelievably good! Detroit 1976 Audience 8.8 - This is a very good sounding tape in many regards although it is recorded in a large, cavernous arena and therefore you won’t get some of the detail a more intimate venue would give you. The vocals are somewhat drowned out by a guitar sound that is quite huge, with the bass complementing that hugeness to the degree that this show is a guitar/bass tour de force. Thankfully Tommy is the shining star in this recording…and shine he did. • Soundboard 8.7 - The mix here tends to lean on a darker side (meaning more low end but not boomy) with guitar being clear enough but not the prominent instrument which is fine as this is totally all about ensemble and vastly different than anything he was doing with Deep Purple. That in itself makes this kind of odd, if he’s touring with Deep Purple yet managed to play some gigs with other people and sound so totally different musically, it’s really a zig zag routine here as the music is so all over the place in a good way. • Audience 8.8 - I am SO relieved that the sound quality here is good, because for me I do not really collect Tom Petty recordings, I mean I like him fine but I just had way to much other stuff I needed to listen to...BUT if you pointed me to something different, I suppose I would take you up on it and so that is what this is. I must say, it's really interesting! Quality-wise it's really fine, and very immersive (yes, you know you are rubbing shoulders with a boatload of people) but I find it wasn't off-putting at all.
