Audience 9.3 - As good as it could be for a large stadium concert. Despite the soundmen fighting mic feedback issues during the first few songs, it certainly gets dialed in and becomes quite nice with the feeling of this being an event, the atmosphere, the way the sound sort of envelopes your ears and you get a sense of size and space. Really sweet!

Audience 9.2 - A very interesting tour that featured just two individuals on stage working in coordination to bring audiences a new perspective on Elton’s music…and it works marvelously. Audio quality here is great, and that is a huge benefit to the listener as they get to enjoy the subtleties of what is happening on stage, including the witty banter between songs. Audience 9.1 - Capturing the unbridled excitement of the flamboyant maestro in his prime in Los Angeles during perhaps his biggest tour. What more can you ask for? The sound is great (especially the drums!) and the appreciative audience never intrudes onto the recording. Audience 9.1 - A lovely, intimate recording that belies the size of the venue. Of course, this was a different approach Elton John undertook on this tour. I think it works well, the bombast has been toned down and what you get instead is an examination of his music presented to you by the man…I think you will appreciate these songs in this way. Audience 9.0 - Warm, spacious, clear, and complete. Elton John playing Baton Rouge at the pinnacle of his career, in marvelous quality, how could you not? Just sayin’, this is worth your time. Audience 8.9 - It’s amazing how tapes still pop up after so many years and sound like they were recorded yesterday. This is one such tape. The music also holds up, and since I never saw Elton John live I am still impressed with how much the guitar factors in to this show. I enjoyed this performance and I felt the excitement of the crowd and felt totally transported which is the hallmark of a well-done recording. Audience 8.4 - Very decent, with good clarity on guitars, some tape noise present but not intruding on the sounds of the music. Sometimes this gets a little over saturated but not to distortion, just more in a little cluttering but this is still way too good of a gig, and a very decent capture, so I can’t slag on it just because there are some minor flaws.
-
Audience 8.0 - Very forceful and loud capture, some taper conversations present, but a very immediate live feeling as if this could have been taped a couple of years ago. Some high frequencies have a squelchiness to them, but when the band is all playing together the audio retains a more comfortable timbre. Overall this is pretty good stuff, and very heady music. I’ve heard people compare them to Pink Floyd, and to be honest I do hear that in some of their compositions, but that is not entirely accurate in describing them. Maybe if you said they were stylistically similar to PF but with a Deep Purplish ensemble approach to the sound, you would be closer.
-
Audience 8.2 - A good sounding recording if you want to just know what is happening on stage and don’t mind a perfectly balanced mix, or crispness in the highs. Some breaking up at volume, where the intensity of this band is just too much for the tapers equipment. Still, I have to tell you, there is reward in this tape if you stick it out. Not saying it gets that much better, but I am saying this is one GREAT rock band! Just overwhelming intensity, and interesting compositions, it keeps you interested to hear what happens next.

Sale!Audience 8.9 - Just the right amount of sonic clarity and separation of instruments with “live atmosphere” to make for a realistic listening experience. Sounds much like what you could have expected having been there. This was also the last show of the tour. Excellent!
-
Audience 8.8 - A nicely atmospheric tape that is very clear, with pretty decent instrument separation and emphasis on vocals so you hear every lyric. Nothing is drowned out in this mix! Fabulous tape! ELO Anaheim Stadium Anaheim, CA. August 26, 1978 Disc 1 1. Intro 2. Standing In The Rain 3. Night In The City 4. Turn To Stone 5. Can't Get It Out Of My Head 6. Cello Solo 7. Audience 7.3 - Don’t let the poor rating diminish what is a very rare artifact. No other recordings of this period exist, which is hard to believe. Coming from a master cassette, the sound is cavernous and not well defined, but it is also very clear which may sound impossible but it’s true. It’s clean, and not a complete waste at all. In fact, I listened to it, gave it a chance, and decided that it is acceptable for hard core fans who want to know what White Trash sounded like live, in Detroit, in 1977. And they were stunning, to be honest.

Audience 9.5 - Unbelievably awesome! Strap yourself in and get ready to hear just how insanely good a well done audience recording can be.
