  • Studio and Live 8.7 – 9.9 - A beautiful collection of recordings featuring the three original members (Tommy Shannon, Uncle John Turner, Johnny Winter) during various time periods over the decades. Most notable are the inclusion of some very rare 1969 studio sessions, and reunion material taken from Willie Nelson’s Arlyn Studios back in 1992. The guitar is simply SUPREMELY badass, if you are on the fence about Prince, do yourself a favor and dive into this one because no matter what your bias might be about the man, you can’t deny the power and finesse that this music demonstrates. PRINCE – Live Out Loud 6 Cities On 12 Discs (Deluxe Metal Canister)

Original price was: $80.00.Current price is: $65.00.
Quality varies but does not dip into anything that might be considered sub par, mostly very good, and a good bit of this set I would consider to be excellent. Besides, it's Third Eye Girl and Prince demonstrated more guitar prowess on this tour than perhaps at any other time in his career, arguably. • Audience 8.8 - This is what we all look forward to as Rush collectors, another great, and rare, Rush show from one of their best time periods. While not quite as clear as the Boston 79, this tape gives us a great aural spectrum for our ears to delight in. Bright, and plenty of good atmosphere while retaining a tight focus even in a large arena. Rush Richfield Coliseum Cleveland, OH. • Soundboard 9.7 - I saw this band around the same time and I can tell you it’s great that there are board tapes around because even though they were spectacular live, the sound was very dense and there’s a lot going on. With this tape you can hear it all in glorious quality, it’s prime stuff, psychedelic rock taken to the next level. • Studio tapes 9.0 - Great to hear this raw, early pre LP stuff because quite frankly it’s fantastic. It’s a different take because there is a real sense of urgency with this recording, like the band know it’s critical to make it happen or they remain bums on the streets of San Francisco. We all know what happened next. • Audience 8.8 - On the rarity scale this is one of those needle in a haystack recordings. It’s an obscure “group” (actually just a duo but here it sounds like they have some accompaniment), and the music straddles the fence between fold psyche and space rock (that’s a good thing).  I would say this couple was trying to stretch something as far as they could in the context of a “folk” duo. • Audience 9.2 - A lively, airy, and detailed (especially with percussion and vocals) recording. I don’t think they could have done much better than this because the taper position is right in the sweet spot. • Soundboard 9.5 - This is a compilation of unreleased guitar vehicles and exceptional solo excerpts for fans of the "Shut Up N' Play Yer Guitar" and "Guitar" albums. The sound quality is excellent soundboard. Yes, some of us are guilty of skipping over the “vamp” sections in order to get to the shred. This compilation delivers what I feel are some of Frank’s tastiest pieces, and all in superb quality. • Audience 8.6 - This is a surprisingly decent sounding tape. I was not expecting it to be anything close to this good, quite frankly. Clarity is reasonable, it’s not a muddy tape, there is some dynamic to it without distortion (although bass is not well defined). The key components are all here though, and it’s a tape (and gig) that can be welcomed wholeheartedly by the punters. Led Zeppelin Musicarnival Warrensville Heights, OH July 20, 1969 01. • Audience 9.5 - Astounding! Not just for the excellent sound but the dynamics are so present here, you get lush, rich lows and then all the way up through the spectrum including detailed but not sizzling highs. Combine all that with the energy of Tusk performed with a marching band at the LA Forum and man, yeah, this is the stuff! • Soundboard 9.6 - A tight, expertly mixed board tape. I think how they mic’d this up to include audience was a great idea, it adds so much to this recording. Lou feeds off their excitement. • Amsterdam 1973 Soundboard 8.9 - Nice to have good, clean board tapes of this line up. I think this is his best band, and I think he sounds terrific here. Sheffield 1973 Soundboard 8.9 - Another great board tape featuring Lou’s best band. I love the sound of the band let alone their musicianship. • Audience 8.7 - This band, while not a household name by any stretch, actually did gain quite a following throughout Europe and even to a much lesser degree in the USA. They played a style of progressive rock that was accessible but did not convert to singing in English completely and that probably won over more fans in their home country. The recording here is clear, it provides just enough dynamics and detail to let you sink yourself into their sound, although the recording suffers some level problems towards the end, but recovers enough to end on a high note. The material is great, I am reminded of Pink Floyd, Eloy, and perhaps maybe a bit of ELP. • Soundboard 9.3 - An expertly recorded and mixed show. It’s hard to find anywhere to improve it, but maybe, and I am nitpicking here, but boosting the guitars in the mix a bit (disclaimer: I am a guitarist, I have bias!). Kick Axe Country Club Los Angeles CA 1984-09-17 01 – Alive & Kickin’ (4:10) 02 – On The Road To Rock (4:43) 03 - Vices (4:13) 04 – Just Passin’ Thru (4:56) 05 - Maneater (3:24) 06 – Runnin’ Wild In The Night (3:30) 07 – The Dark Crusade (7:12) 08 – Dreamin’ About You (5:16) 09 – Stay On Top - Drum Solo (6:09) 10 – Heavy Metal Shuffle (3:14) Band: George Criston - vocals Larry Gillstrom- guitar Raymond Arthur Harvey - guitar Victor Langen - bass Brian Gillstrom - drums
  • Studio Rehearsals 8.8 - Thankfully recorded on something other than a cheap boombox so the quality is there as far as being able to hear everything clear. Vocals are the only thing that does not ring out clearly, but other than that this is gold. This early Metallica is a far cry from what would be in just a few short years. METALLICA 1982.03.XX - Downey, CA Rehearsals in Ron McGovney's Garage 1. Hit the Lights 2. Helpless 3. Jump in the Fire 4. Let It Loose 5. Sucking My Love 6. Am I Evil? 7. The Prince 8. Killing Time Released in '94 via a collaboration between KNAC and Ron McGovney, a number of these demos were debuted during the CLASSIC and ORIGINAL Mandatory Metallica show on 105.5 KNAC. They did a whole week with Ron McGovney in the studio and some of these gems were played on the air. Pat O'Connor, one of the DJ's from the Mandatory show, had his hand in putting out numerous Silver Bootleg CD's and promptly released Sucking My Love between '94 and '95 and then released Things That Should Not Be in late '95. Always an interesting listen... they had a long way to go. Lineup: James Hetfield - Vocals (No Guitar) Dave Mustaine - Guitar Ron McGovney - Bass Lars Ulrich - Drums
  • Soundboard 8.7 - This is the kind of soundboard that was probably meant just for soundman audio reference. It’s fine though, and generally speaking, way better than any audience tape because Metallica, especially in 1986 (I know because I saw them in ’86 and it was the loudest concert I’d ever heard) was so loud there wasn’t any way to get a good capture unless you had excellent gear with mic level adjustment. Metallica - Metal, Inc. Live @ The Coliseum, El Paso TX May 12, 1986 1. Master Of Puppets 2. For Whom The Bell Tolls 3. Ride The Lightning 4. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 5. Seek And Destroy 6. Creeping Death 7. Am I Evil? 8. Damage, Inc.
  • Soundboard 9.1 - This is a strong, powerful sounding board with a pretty decent sound mix, although not super clear, but not a muddy mess…somewhere in between the two but leans toward being mostly clear. Metallica Live in Davenport, IA - DEAD HEROES May 30, 1986 Coliseum Ballroom Damage, Inc. Tour 1. Master Of Puppets 2. For Whom The Bell Tolls 3. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 4. • Audience 8.8 - A good, bright recording that features rich bass, and strong vocals in particular. This allows you to hear the musicianship which believe it or not, these guys have! I also appreciate their nods to the classics. W.A.S.P. Elysee Montmartre Paris, France October 28, 1992 Disc 1 01 The Invisible Boy 02 The Real Me 03 L.O.V.E. • Audience 8.8 - I was surprised at just how good this sounded. The first half of the first song you wonder how it will be, and you fear it might wobble because taper is adjusting things on the fly but it gets sorted and wow, I have to give props to taper on this one! He sounds maybe halfway back in the venue, so not close up, but he’s using either high end consumer gear or maybe something more professional to be able to lock in his levels and get a really good timbre. • Audience 8.8 - A very satisfying recording, with a great snare drum sound and I highlight that because it is often overlooked. Dio sounds clear and if I fault anything it’s maybe Toni’s guitar which is just slightly behind the overall sound coming from the mains but still it’s really not too bad and the solos really come across clearly. It’s a fine live sound all around and is comfortable on the ears. • Fillmore East 1969 Audience 8.4 - A bit of hiss is present, the music is not crystal clear until the guitar kicks in and then it comes alive. I’ll tell you what listening to this did for me: I started to understand why hippies tripped balls to Canned Heat, there is a very weird acid vibe going on, things get distorted and intense, and extremely psychedelic in a blues based presentation that is really kind of crazy. Maybe it was due to the band blowing up amplifiers, I don’t know but it’s intoxicating and you can’t stop listening to it, maybe it’s just this show, this weird recording that seems to do weird things…on purpose?  You decide. Atlanta Pop Festival 1969 Audience 8.8 - A very interesting sounding old tape, with lead guitar and vocals quite present as if taper was real close but no distortion (although some tape hiss). The performance is bristling with acid blues rock electricity. It’s just palpable, I get these guys I really understand what the magic was. • All Soundboard 9.3 - This entirely depends on how much you want to hear blazing, inventive lead guitar and don’t mind if the bass sounds more like a rhythm guitar, That is what the bass sounds like to my ears, it’s there, but it’s not “low end” it’s more like a heavy rhythm guitar. It works for this style of rock though – and it’s all good stuff, if maybe a tad generic with the singing.
