• Aud 7.6 / SDBRD 9.0 - A little cluttered in the center with not the best instrument separation. Listenable. Bonus disc includes most of the same show in soundboard quality.
  • Soundboard 9.0 - Great guitar tone, but when did Rory ever not have that? But, it just leaps outta the speakers here. A really tight gig, the band is HOT HOT HOT!
  • Soundboard 9.1 - When I hear recordings like this, I am hesitant to consider it a pure soundboard because I am aware of the presence of “room” here, especially when it’s guitar and/or vocals by themselves and you really hear it. So, probably run through a board yes, but mic’d up for a recording rather than for PA if that makes any sense.
  • Soundboard 9.2 with Audience 7.8 patches - A red hot show that thankfully is available in great quality with previously missing parts filled in with the long traveled audience tape.
  • Audience 8.6 - Tape clears up a little bit after the first couple songs, and, it has kind of low volume but you can turn it up and it’s fine. Actually, this is very good because the crowd is very respectful here, so the quieter numbers are very, very warm and nice.
  • Audience 8.7 - A nice one! Funny to hear the Japanese tapers between songs, but they did a good job capturing this show for sure. When performers play Japan, you have to wonder what it must be like to play in front of large crowds of people who have no clue what you are singing about.
  • Audience 7.8 - Good live atmosphere, a touch trebly but not in an irritating way, just in the sound spectrum itself. Rory was riding pretty high during most of this tour having played a very historic run of shows in his native land (all released officially btw).
  • Audience 7.8 - Thankful to have this one, so the less than perfect sound does not faze me, besides it’s actually decent. I get every instrument, especially Rory’s guitar and the bass, which actually has some definition to it. The only caveat is the lack of a dynamic quality, but the dynamics are provided by the playing, which is off the chain good. A memorable gig (joined by fellow Irish luminary Phil Lynott)! This is Blues Rock as performed by absolute masters.
  • Audience 9.0 - I have rated this highly because it transcends the boring sameness of most modern aud recordings and sounds more like a 70’s boot! I can’t explain it really. It’s just, to me, the Stones should always sound like the Cleveland 1978 bootleg LP which really sort of sums up the Stones for me.
  • Audience 8.5 - Should be a higher rating but for the mastering where the mids are so hot. Put this through your Equalizer and bring the mid band down a little bit and you have a very strong recording. The highs are insane, not screechy just detailed, and the low is present, so just fiddle with the mids because it’s just too hot there.
  • Audience 9.7 - This is the result of VERY diligent and committed tapers. First: get there early. Second: don’t leave until the last bit of sound comes out the P.A. Then, do a damn fine job! That sums up this experience, because that is what it is: An Experience. Well done sir!
  • Audience 9.3 - Another spectacular capture that presents a detailed soundfield and plenty of atmosphere to sink yourself into the show as if you were there. Excellent!
  • Audience 9.8 - Spectacular recording that captures every nuance with beautiful clarity and dynamics while allowing just enough crowd and ambience in to perfect the listening experience. So F’ING good I defy anyone to challenge my assessment.
  • Audience 9.7 - The title asks the question “is this the mix we really want?” and the answer is most emphatically “YES”! Brilliant sound, like you are sitting right in the front row center…why spend the money, get this CD instead!
