• Audience 8.6 - A very decent recording that may be slightly distant but is real clear and not boomy, rather there is a pretty inviting bottom end and sharp highs – it’s the middle frequency that is not as present which is not generally the case. The taper is in the brawling midst of the action on the floor and you really do feel a part of their excitement during the concert. I would say this is kind of immersive in that sense, and not annoyingly so either. A fun tape, I was sucked into it at times and could not extract myself. I had fun hearing all the goings on including the band…ha! Side Note: Jimmy is not having a night to remember…ah well. LED ZEPPELIN The Myriad Oklahoma City, OK. • Soundboard 9.3 - A super clean, almost clinical board tape where you get detail on all the instruments. This is probably not how the show actually sounded, but it’s great if you want to hear the band playing in your living room. • Audience 8.6 - I wanted to give this a better rating, and truth is it ain’t bad, but it is a little distant and the music lacks punch. It is clear enough though, and audience actually helps propel the energy level up a notch. Austin music fans are always up for a great concert and really show their enthusiasm.  Also, I think the set list around this time was put together very well and flows nicely. • Audience 8.8 - Once again, we are literally fighting it out in the rows with the fans but thankfully the music comes through it all in fine fashion, which is amazing in and of itself. Taper must have used pretty good hear to accomplish this feat – how to survive in the sweaty pits of hell and at the same time produce a very decent bootleg tape!  Well, they did, so thank you taper for your efforts. • Audience 8.4 - An incredibly loud tape, bordering on catastrophe but not quite going over the red line of doom. What I mean is, the tape is just way overloaded, but it hangs together miraculously just enough to be able go ahead and listen through…although at times it’s so intense you just have to turn the volume down a bit. Now, when you get to, say, The Rain Song – yeah, the tape shines…it’s just that kind of tape. NOTE: After the tape flip in Rain Song, the taper seems to have been able to dial down the recording level a little bit, it seems to get a little more manageable. • Audience 9.1 - A great tape that ramps up the intensity and puts you in the front row. This show has been put out before but never sounding as good as this. Wowsers! • Landover 1973 Soundboard 9.3 - A solid recording that was broadcast over the air and features a nice wide stereo mix showing detail in the bass and crisp, crunchy guitar not to mention having another well recorded Keith Moon experience…and of course Roger is in fine form (when is he not?). Wembley 1975 Audience 8.5 - Not horrible, the music is all here in pretty clear form (I get a good picture of drums thankfully), but the highlight is the stage banter where you get a lot of stuff that will entertain for sure. I am happy say that the recording does also get better, so that once you are firmly ensconced in your listening chair you will start to get into this one more and more. • Audience 9.3 - Again, we discover that yes some people do really know how to use stealth recording gear to great effect.  Lovely balance, warm, in the pocket and thankfully so because this tour was perhaps him at his peak. That is not to say he does not perform well now, it is just that this tour seems to have them so up and enthusiastic almost every show, with great special guests and great set lists. • Audience 8.6 - Surprisingly decent, it’s got some “rattle and bones” but overall it is highly listenable with a good timbre to it. Anything from this period is welcome, and this old tape has not only survived the decades intact but delivers on the enjoyment meter considerably. The bonus tracks vary but are generally pretty good quality with the tell-tale sound of vinyl ever present throughout. No attempt was made to clean it up, this is due to the sensitive nature of the high end on these recordings, it would seem any real noise reduction or cleaning would compromise that. • Audience 8.7 - This is a very good recording that only needs more definition in the highs, but I still think this has to rank high in the pantheon of 1971 audience tapes. It’s a show that seems to invoke an almost reverential vibe in the audience, as they are quiet and respectful throughout but show bursts of appreciate at song endings. A good one, in many respects. • Audience 8.3 - One of those tapes that captures the power of the band, but does not deliver crisp definition…that being said, you must listen to this all the way through. It’s been cleaned up as best as could be and it delivers MUCH more audio than it ever did before prior to modern mastering techniques.  A worthy addition to collections. When you arrive to the drum solo section, you will hear what this tape had the potential to present, it sounds great. • Audience 8.4 - The same taping crew that did the Ozzy Osbourne, and it sounds very similar but maybe a touch clearer. It’s a pretty good effort, especially when you consider the year, and what I mean is that the tape recording equipment used during most of the 80’s did not usually produce anything to write home about. So, overall, this is a really decent early period Def Leppard recording. DEF LEPPARD Music Mountain South Fallsburg, NY. • Soundboard 9.0 - Interesting hearing this line up in such clarity,  it certainly allows you to make a better judgment on the music, which by the way is pretty damn good. It’s different, in some ways, but it is still very good. My advice is not to go into it thinking you are getting Black Sabbath – rather consider it a Tony Iommi side project, then it makes more sense and will grab you in a better way.
