Now, let this be the one and only disclaimer: The inclusion of the Dallas 1972 show, even though it may be considered below the high standards set by collectors of this venerable progressive rock band, was too important to not acknowledge here because, as you know, we lost Alan White not that long ago and the Dallas '72 gig was his first with the band. It's also kind of interesting to hear how well he did with only a couple of days to learn the challenging material. All discs are Audience recordings of VERY GOOD quality. All sound bright, and with the exception of maybe one show (which sounds a little crowded up in the middle frequency), are pretty wide and clear. Having listened to all of it, I have to rate this set as spectacularly fun to listen to, it's just a really good time for the band who are riding high on their successes but not yet ready to relax too much. An absolute beast of a canister! Loaded down with 14 discs, it's quite the experience as you follow the Who on tour in the States in 1980. For the most part, all of the recordings reside in the mid to upper 8's on the 1-10 scale, with a couple coming in at over 9.0 (Essen, for instance). I found it to be very satisfying as all of the songs I enjoy hearing them play are represented, without the overindulgence into Tommy...finally!
