Audience 8.5 - A total time capsule, I mean, if you want to know what the 70's sounded like just pop this CD in. Kind of dated but hippie cool. Sound is good, but a little crowded in the middle and raucous in a fun way. Your ears will bump into the guy next to you, and you'll be pushed and shoved a little but man, you are at the show having a blast. The thing about listening to mid 70's live Aerosmith is you are always kind of tuning in to hear signs of the impending train-wreck about to happen at any minute and I guess that is the charm of it. Audience 9.3 - Excellent quality, in fact I think this is a professional recording done on or very close to the stage. It has certain tell-tale qualities, like there being minimal audience noise and very clear, well-balanced band. Good mix here, even without Duane present I think most listeners will find this most welcome especially considering two songs are played featuring Johnny Winter. Audience 9.4 - Absolutely fantastic tape! This gives you everything and more, including some intangible aspects that people ought not to disregard, and that is atmosphere. What was it like at the show? I want that immersive experience, and I want a clear sounding tape, and I am willing to forgive the lack of some dynamics in exchange for that - but here you don't have to make that sacrifice because this recording is VERY dynamic! I love the meaty drums, and vocals are soaring above and very clear. Guitar is MONSTEROUS too, and mixed properly. This is almost a must have, actually it is good enough to be a top 5 at least for the Tony Martin era. Audience 8.7 - A new re-mastering has taken what was once a very muddy recording and breathed significant new life into it. I mean, if ever there was a time to be collecting it is right now. So while it still might be considered as an average audience recording, the fact is that there is much more in this tape than what was once believed and which is why it flew under the Sabbath collector radar. But it's actually pretty good, I can only be a little critical if I analyze what is happening at the lower end here, not much definition and guitar blends into the bass somewhat and provide a volume backdrop that is "dark" and foreboding but not a mess either. FM Broadcast 8.9 - Good because it's a broadcast, but there is some compression so you do not get the crisp, soaring highs and separation of instruments is not perfect. It's a somewhat "rough" professional recording and I am not talking about just age or generation of tape either - some of this is probably in the actual recording and/or live sound mix. The band played in front of 37,500 ecstatic and very loud fans. This was the first of three stadium shows played on the mini tour of the country. -

Great live performance from Dokken! The Audio came to us from an unknown source and it seems to be a soundboard recording, although the audience noise is loud and clear too, so we have our doubt! It does not sound bad, by any means, but we can’t assure you it is a sound board recording as we usually do. -

Audience 8.7 - Loud and brassy, with some distortion on the cymbals at the high end. Taper must have been in the front row on the PA side of the stage. That being said, this is what makes this recording frightening to the ears, a terrifying journey into the unrelenting power and charisma of ELP in their mid 70's prime. There is nothing sedate about this live concert experience, and because it was recorded on very good equipment, even despite the overwhelming loudness of it, it's a rather true representation. Side Note: Jerusalem is a song with more mellow passages and here this recording absolutely shines, jumping quickly to a 9.2 rating and actually remaining better even during the loud segments as it starts to even out - this could be due to taper either moving further back, or making some other minor adjustment. Something certainly is changing with the recording as tape noise increases but the distortion lessens, this could mean he lowered the gain, so the volume had to be boosted during the transfer as his recording levels were much lower. Either way, it had a net positive effect. Unfortunately not the complete show.
