Heyoka - The Spirit of Revelation 2-LP. Gatefold cover colored vinyl limited edition double album filled with incredible late 70s progressive hard rock from this unheralded Texas group. Mention the name Heyoka to any self respecting rock music aficionado in the state of Texas and chances are they remember this legendary 70s hard rock band. Without a doubt this band was one of the greatest unsigned bands ever to originate from Texas. Opening for every major touring act that passed through San Antonio, including Rush’s first tour of America, this band even had a song featured on MTV in the early 80’s, before it got unceremoniously banned. They featured two guitarists, a singer that played flute, keyboards, and a crack rhythm section. The music is reminiscent of Jethro Tull and Kansas, but retaining a unique quality all its own that will take the listener on a musical journey evoking Native American imagery under the mystical guide of Black Elk. All tracks recorded between the years 1977 and 1986, almost all previously unissued. For those into classic era Rush, Kansas, Jethro Tull, Thin Lizzy and the like. An absolute must-have release! Shotgun were a 1970s rock band from Dallas. The band consisted of Guy Houston on drums, Hugh Coleman on bass, John Michael Soria on lead guitar, Russ Skarsten on keyboards, and Billy Metcalf on lead vocals. The band's 1976 album, recorded but never released, Dallasian Rock was remastered and reissued by ShroomAngel Records, in 2014. Reviewing the album for seaoftranquility.org, Pete Pardo awarded the album five stars and said: "This is incredible material that should have been huge back in the day, and the amazing thing is it still sounds fresh and exciting here in 2014. The ShroomAngel team have done a wonderful job on the remastering, so be prepared for a killer listening experience." -
Dallas based Christian proto-metal band that recorded loads of material and performed live but never actually released anything to the public. Two discs worth of master quality studio demos, and live, tracks. Very competent band that were obviously heavily influenced by the NWOBHM groups especially Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and maybe a healthy dose of classics like Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash with the dual guitar action a lot of the songs feature. Top shelf! -

The twins Mark and Clark Seymour (and a third brother on Moog and assorted keys) have a very long history in music. They may be little known to the general public, but once upon a time they were "the next big thing"...until loads of cocaine, unscrupulous industry execs, and bad decisions got the better of them. The story is a long one so no way to repeat it here, suffice it to say this was a band that could have given Queen a run for their money. Carnegie were at their prime during the years 1977 and 1978, with demo recordings, record contracts, shows, and even occasional TV appearances -- this 2CD set gives you a rare glimpse into what could have, what should have been. -
From the ashes of the Moving Sidewalks, former members Tom Moore and Dan Mitchell decided to carry on playing the blues once Billy Gibbons formed ZZ Top and was doing straight up Texas style blues rock. Featuring Hammond B3 organ, the band had a different approach to blues rock but executed with the same kind of unique Texas panache. A single 7" was released but the band recorded quite a bit of material which never saw the light of day. This CD gathers most of those recordings along with a disc full of rare live tracks, of which include Ottis Coleman (Honest John, 1900 Storm, Texas Blend) replacing Tom Moore and Dusty Wakeman (bass) who also happened to be in The Barons and engineered the Honest John album in 1975. -
Hard rock group from Houston active during the mid 70's and were primarily known as a covers band, playing many of the well known clubs in town. They recorded a handful of original songs in 1975, and disbanded following some unfortunate incidents while on the road. A single 7" record was released, however, and gained enough traction that rhythm guitarist Jimmy Lee Dean decided to continue on and recruit new members (the era known as Jeremiah MK II). This version of the band recorded a full length LP which never saw the light of day as the manager absconded with the master reels soon after the sessions, and nobody heard from him since. Eventually, we rediscovered these masters and attempted to transfer them in the studio but the tapes had severely degraded, the material, such as it is, is also contained on this collection. A 40th Anniversary reunion concert occurred in 2014, and excerpts from that show are included on the 2nd disc. All known recordings of this band are included in this package. -
Excellent Soundboard recording of a highly regarded Texas rock group prominent in the mid '70's. They played an original, hybrid progressive, upbeat hard rock along with more Austin, Texas flavored "Tex-Mex" Southern infused rock and roll...like I said a hybrid style. Unfortunately it did not take hold anywhere outside of Austin, so it remained undiscovered but certainly in Texas the name is extremely well respected as it should be. Well worth discovering for yourself! -

Formed in 1969, legendary heavy Southern psyche rock group Josefus took Texas by storm, recording a monumental LP (Dead Man) and touring throughout Texas in 1969 (opening act for Grand Funk on most of the Texas dates). Somehow, through all the craziness, they have kept it together (original singer and guitarist) all these years and continue to record and play live. This CD showcases an exceptional live performance on one side (this was originally done on vinyl which is now out of print) and a rare 1978 studio session on the other side (was lost for over 35 years!). A killer disc! -
This is the follow up album to the recent reissue of Ruff Mix, the band's official studio offering released in 1975. Culled from the band's personal archives, the music was saved from destruction (literally the master tapes burned in a fire and barely survived) and remixed to present a picture of the band just prior to recording Ruff Mix, and then a few years after its release. The CD features late guitarist Richard Heath (Oz Knozz, Lady Killer, Lic) on side 1 and Rick Wheeler on side 2. -
This is the CD only follow up release to the first album by Hooker. These tracks were culled from the bands personal archives and were transferred from the original reels. The time frame spans a period of several years, from around 1978 to approx. 1986. Some of the tracks do feature on the first album, but are going to be alternate versions, mixes, etc. There are also a few live tracks, we concluded those would have been from around 1974 making them some of the oldest surviving recordings of the band. -
A limited edition offering from Houston based ShroomAngel Records. This band was one of the "inner loop" bands that began pushing boundaries in the local scene with their hybrid style, born out of two worlds - the growing "grunge" sound pioneered by Janes Addiction (which you can hear in their sound especially vocals) and Mudhoney among others, but also in old guard punk and hard rock, which you also get reminiscences of in their sound. The music even crosses into some psychedelic territory, it's pretty much an amalgamation of several styles that sometimes adds a sort of exotic feel, but with an anxious, almost paranoid underpinning. -
A collection of rare, never before issues tracks originating from Texas during the 1970's. Featuring a handful of demos produced by the group Truck, a band who slipped under the radar and whose music remained undiscovered for decades. The rest of the disc is rounded out by some known and some very obscure acts, some so obscure we do not even know what their name is! These tracks were discovered on an old forgotten multi-track reel that was owned by Ernie Myers (guitarist of Hands out of Dallas, TX.). Studios would frequently reuse reels to save costs, and this particular reel was no exception Tracks were discovered on the end of the reel that was used to record some demos in 1980. All that we know of the band are the first names of the members written on a track sheet inside the tape box. The recordings originated out of a studio called JD&D Sound...and that's it. The music is excellent!
