Soundboard 9.4 - Excellent tape for all those who actually want to hear what the band is doing. Drums are massive, and the guitars sound on point and distinct. Soundboard 9.2 - In this mix, vocals are front and center, followed next by drums (cool) and guitars which sound just evil AF. This is surely one all fans will slay for (see what I did there?). Soundboard 8.9 - Man, this is just amazing. It sounds a little dated, maybe a little faded, but definitely NOT jaded! The live sound mix isn't perfect here, I think guitars should be louder (but at least in this board I can hear every note of the bass) but in defense of the guitars I can hear both of them somewhat distinctly. Vocals do suffer, they are pushed well back of the mix, at times they get closer to the right spot, but it's all good they are there but just not at the center of the mix. I think this is classic stuff. Slayer Country Club Reseda, LA, CA. September 7th 1985 Hell Awaits Tour 1. Hell Awaits 2. Aggressive Perfector 3. Captor Of Sin 4. The Final Command 5. Soundboard 8.8 - A strong and clear tape with a mix that heavily favors drums and bass. That gives it a massive, sledgehammer to the skull sound - which can't be bad.

Studio quality 9.6 - production on this is outstanding and flows nicely. Well thought out, and as comprehensive as it needs to be so it has a wider appeal and includes casual fans as well as seasoned collectors. The DVD is a nice touch!

Audience 9.4 - This recording consists of a matrix between both an audience recorded tape and a stand-alone video recorder audio, and together (when both are rolling and in-sync) they have a wonderful stereo pan effect and sweet, clean quality. Audience 8.7 - This is a really good, but flawed, recording. The good points are that it is clear, and has unmistakable stereo panning, and a LOT of good live atmosphere (not the obnoxious audience kind of atmosphere!). The flaws are that taper is working hard (to his credit) to get into a sweet spot and while doing this the signal to his deck fades in and out slightly - the effect is one of phasing, so it's not a deal-breaker flaw it's just you have to accept that vocals and what not at times sound really far back and then sound much closer...at various points during the show (I should say guitar does this too, maybe less often). The reason why you'll stick it out is because when it is good...it's great. -
Audience 8.7 - This is a decent tape that delivers some sense of the venue and the power of the band in a live setting, it's not "relaxed" sounding but definitely hard rock music at volume...but that being said there is some slight harmonic distortion somewhere in the upper mid band range, and if you had to choose where your live recording suffered, it would be here because it doesn't do as much damage to the sound taken as a whole as you might suppose. It's still a really good recording...with limitations. FM Broadcast 8.9 - Good because it's a broadcast, but there is some compression so you do not get the crisp, soaring highs and separation of instruments is not perfect. It's a somewhat "rough" professional recording and I am not talking about just age or generation of tape either - some of this is probably in the actual recording and/or live sound mix. That being said - it's a really good tape nonetheless and worthy of your collection. Blue Oyster Cult Centrum Worcester, MA. September 24, 1982 01. Pre-show interview 02. Audience 8.8 - A rather good tape, it's kind of rare to find something like this just because of the extreme volume and what not that metal presents to taping gear - but this one shines. Sometimes the rhythm guitar seems to drop out a little in the mix, every now and then but that might be a PA or mix thing. Soundboard 9.4 - A lovely bright and clear sound, only noise I hear is between songs. I also love the fact that this dates from a period where there's not an abundance of Kansas recordings. I have to consider this a must have for Kansas collectors. Portland - Audience 9.1 - Excellent, clear, and a nice atmosphere to it. Denver - Soundboard 9.6 - This board tape is expressive, bright (listen to Bob's vocals), and very well mixed (sounds like vocals panned to one side, back up vocals to the other side...interesting!).
