• Audience 8.7 - It’s definitely rare to find unknown Allman Brothers recordings featuring Duane, and here we have one new to circulation. The sound quality is very good, it really is from the master (obvious when you hear how clean it is) and it sounds like it has been gently mastered for optimum fidelity. A great find! Allman Brothers Place Des Nations Montreal, Canada Sept. 3rd, 1971 CD 1 1. -Statesboro Blues 2. -Trouble No More 3. -Don't Keep Me Wonderin' 4. -Done Somebody Wrong 5. -One Way Out 6. -In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed 7. -Whipping Post CD 2 1. -Jam - Layla tease - Jam - Revival 2. -You Don't Love Me - Soul Serenade - You Don't Love Me (reprise)
  • Audience 8.2 - A loud and raucous tape, with a band of noise in the upper mid frequency that prevents better separation of instruments. Saving grace?  Duane is the clearest instrument on this recording – in fact it is his guitar that soars over the sound to the degree that you almost inevitably focus solely on him throughout.  As it happens, Gregg’s vocals are next up in the mix. THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Academy Of Music, New York August 15, 1971 Disc 1 1. -Statesboro Blues 2. -Trouble No More 3. -Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’ 4. -Done Somebody Wrong 5. -One Way Out 6. -In Memory of Elizabeth Reed Disc 2 1. -Blue Sky 2. -Midnight Rider 3. -Hot ‘Lanta 4. -You Don’t Love Me - Soul Serenade - You Don’t Love Me 5. -Revival
  • Soundboard 8.8 - It’s a board tape, a little on the flat side but if you want to hear the whole band and what they are playing I guess this one is going to be right on point for you. Allman Brothers Band Palace Theatre Albany, NY 03/03/73 01. -Wasted Words 02. -Done Somebody Wrong 03. -Statesboro Blues 04. -Ain't Wastin' Time No More 05. -One Way Out 06. -Stormy Monday 07. -Midnight Rider 08. -Jessica - Bomb Scare - Jessica 09. -Trouble No More 10. -In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed
  • Audience 8.8 - A fierce sounding tape that has been re-mastered and shows some depth and instrument separation that previously was not there. The vocals at times are drowned out in the sheer onslaught of bass, drums, and guitars. The band even reminds a little of Deep Purple (check out “Every Hungry Woman” as a prime example) with keyboards featuring prominently so be ready for what is best described as heavier than normal Allman Brothers. THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Georgia Tech Coliseum, Atlanta, GA May 9, 1970 Disc One 1.  -Statesboro Blues 2.  -Trouble No More 3.  -Dreams 4.  - Hoochie Coochie Man 5.  -I'm Gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town 6.  -Every Hungry Woman 7.  -Oh Pretty Woman 8.  -In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed Disc Two 1.  -Stormy Monday 2.  -Dimples 3.  -Whipping Post 4.  - Mountain Jam - Hot Lanta'
  • Soundboard 9.0 - Many people who collect this band’s live recorded works would probably all agree that the 80-81 period is the least favorite, but maybe that is because they never heard this one. This is new to circulation, and it is not without flaws (a few songs fade in, and it is a touch on the “hot” side) but I think it delivers where it counts. I particularly found the drums to be emphasized in a good way, you can feel them, and therefore it lends a heavier feel to the songs, including the seldom played songs they were showcasing from the latest album.

  • Soundboard 9.3 - An interesting tape because it’s from soon after losing Duane, and I don’t think there’s many tapes from that period immediately after his death. THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Price Hall, Jackson, Alabama March 23, 1972 CD 1 1. Statesboro Blues 2. Done Somebody Wrong 3. Ain't Wastin' Time No More 4. One Way Out 5. Trouble No More 6. Whipping Post Gregg Allman - keyboards, vocals Dickey Betts - guitar Berry Oakley - bass Butch Trucks - drums Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson - drums, percussion
  • Soundboard 9.2 - This is the only known board tape from 1975. It’s very good, I find no real problems other than occasional drop outs, and it’s maybe a little distracting here and there but I don’t think it kills the fun. It’s still a very good board tape of a really good performance. The Allman Brothers Band Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena Oakland, CA October 24, 1975 Disc 1 01. Don't Want You No More 02. It's Not My Cross To Bear 03. Long Time Gone 04. Midnight Rider 05. Ramblin' Man 06. Win, Lose, or Draw 07. Can't Lose What You Never Had 08. One Way Out 09. High Falls 10. Nevertheless 11. • Audience 8.5 -This is one of those tapes that originated from a well-known local taper who produced some of the BEST stealth audience recordings of the decade but had to start somewhere, and that somewhere was not always as spectacular. The drums, specifically the cymbals, sound all washed out and annoying, even with careful remastering the effect is still present but much more bearable and in fact allows, finally, the true fan to actually appreciate this tape. Allman Brothers Providence Civic Center Providence, RI 5 June 1974 Disc 1 Set I 01 -Wasted Words 02 -Done Somebody Wrong 03 -One Way Out 04 -Stormy Monday 05 -Midnight Rider 06 -Trouble No More 07 -In Memory of Elizabeth Reed Set II 08 -Pony Boy Jam 09 -Statesboro Blues 10 -Come and Go Blues Disc 2 01 -Jessica 02 -You Don't Love Me 03 -Les Brers In A Minor 04 -Whippin' Post
  • Soundboard 8.9 - Kinda cool when you get these board tapes that pan a guitar, and then one other lead instrument to the other side, which in this case is keyboards. I think this allows for an examination of the instrument in question, so you might find yourself listening once and concentrating on guitar, then another time you’ll give drums and keys more attention…and that is why this show might have you coming back several times for more.  Interesting! THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Manley Fieldhouse Syracuse, New York, April 7, 1972 Disc 1 1. -Statesboro Blues 2. -Done Somebody Wrong 3. -Ain't Working Time No More 4. -One Way Out 5. -Stormy Monday 6. -You Don't Love me 7. -In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed 8. -Midnight Rider Disc 2 1. -Whipping Post 2. -Jam SUNY Stonybrook, New York, July 26, 1970 3. -Mountain Jam
  • Soundboard 9.7 - Spectacular! They play what sounds like, to my ears, the same vintage equipment they must have used originally, or maybe their equipment was new in 1973 but I guess it is vintage now…as are the dudes ha ha! • Pro Broadcast 9.3 - A long improvisational track which really is, in my opinion, way ahead of everyone else in terms of trying new things and being completely off the cuff with sounds and textures. It’s not like traditional space rock, in fact it is not even rock, although the band are players and can make noise when they want to make noise. The fidelity is solid, I can hear everything very clearly and ambience is abundant. • Austin 2007 Audience 9.6 - Excellent dynamics, strong recording signal that sounds like you are sitting right in front of the band. You can almost make out her diction of lyrics…almost ha ha! A lovely recording. Toronto 2007 Audience 9.1 - A good recording that features nice instrument separation and clarity, it isn’t as round and tight as the Austin show on disc 1 but it’s very strong in its own right. • Audience 8.8 - The sound on this gets progressively better during the 1st song to the end due to the sound engineer dialing in the mix. Once it is set, the show cooks. This is a beginning to end recording, meaning you get every little moment of this evening, practically just travelling back in time to the evening of the gig then sitting in the crowd as the band does their thing.
