• Audience 8.7 - Do not be put off by the rating! This is a very strong 8.7 verging closer to 8.8. Why do I stress that?  Because it has a lot going for it, the only black mark I hold against it is due to the lack of distinction between guitars and Paul being pushed back in the sound mix. That being said, it’s more the “mix” of the guitars that leads me to say that, not that you can’t pick each one up. I think I am just being picky though. • Audience 9.3 - I am hesitant to call this a radio broadcast but this obviously was professionally recorded, but the recording might not necessarily be through the board hence “audience” tape. • Audience 8.0 - You are probably wondering why I am including low rated recordings here, especially Kiss…well you may have a point but here’s the thing: This site is for ALL collectors, and the reason this show is listed here is because it circulated for years in unlistenable quality (below 7.0), but thanks to modern technology it is now listenable. It’s from perhaps one of their best tours, musically speaking, and needed an upgrade so bad!  So, for the casual fan I would say pass, but for the Kiss collector who knows how bad this show sounded and wants to throw away that old CD, I would recommend this 2020 re-master. Still kind of rough but there is now music here instead of an insufferable wall of distortion. I am not 100% sure but I think the big thing about this show among collectors was the inclusion of the song “Move On” to the set list, perhaps only performed this one time. • Audience 8.7 - Very clear, and good atmosphere which really helps this music a lot. It seems the music is more dynamic with the sense of excitement the crowd gives. They had a huge following, the audience knows the band’s music very well. The Palalido, Milano, Italy, May 27th 1981. • Soundboard 9.8 - There would be no reason why a professionally recorded Kraftwerk show should sound anything less than near perfect because let’s face it, unless you are a complete moron, it would be hard to screw up their mix. It’s pretty basic, and because of that what you have here is pretty darn good. Mitternacht Notes on the show: Yet another AMAZING find that's now just come to light. This is a master tape from the France Inter archive of the FULL l'Olympia show! We only had 21 mins from the 'Somewhere in Europe' LP and then 38 mins from a rebroadcast in 2015. This is the complete show from a radio programme called "We're Going Out Tonight" with no radio DJ talking over the music or tuning. Very likely recorded before being broadcast on the radio. Of special note is Florian's use of the Votrax VS-6 "Talking Typewriter" as Karl put it in his memoir for "Die Sonne, Der Mond, Die Sterne."

  • Audience 8.7/8.9  - Both recordings are really well done with the clear edge going to the 1975 stuff because it is a little bit more clear, although the synths and moogs and other keys are pushed way out front in the mix which is great because those sounds are otherworldly and mega heavy! A spot of mic dropout can be heard and it could easily have been edited out but it’s kept on the there but thankfully lasts only 2 seconds…otherwise what a show this is!  Fantastic and mind blowing! • Soundboard 9.1 - A newly discovered tape, takes a little bit to get itself on track with some sound mix problems but they resolve during the first song (sometimes appearing here and there for a second or two later on). The band is very tight, a strong performance, you will wish we had the rest of the show, but it’s great we have this. • Audience 8.7 - A new tape discovery and it is a good one, although not without some bumps and bruises. The tape is incomplete, missing at least the last 1/3 of the show (if judging by similar set lists from the time). The taper is close, and the sound is raw, powerful, and clear. The first few minutes are bumpy, but the tape smooths out for the majority of the show. The band is firing on all cylinders, much like the following month’s Texas Pop Festival performance. A great find! • Audience 8.6 - This is a very good recording where all I can say is I wanted more guitar…but Bonzo is furious and drums sound heavy, bass is POUNDING without booming, and Plant rides it all with a reasonably clear and present vocal that kind of seems like it’s floating like cream above the sound. All in all I have to say this is pretty righteous for a 1972 aud. tape. Recommended! • Audience 8.1 - An old, very fragile tape was found and YEARS of grime and muck were removed to reveal a little bit of music. Still, on the scale of things Zeppelin, this tape is for completists only. Thankfully though it exists and has been wrapped in a very fine looking package. It deserves at least that much. Funny thing though, in listening to this, the bass is clear comparatively speaking and has a brassy, round sound that allows you to hear the notes he is playing. It’s not just a rumbling “low end” mess here, and so I appreciated that. Super excited audience also helps propel the recording a little bit. • Audience 8.8 - This old tape is fascinating, and frustrating. The “DJ” is a guy who seems to work for a local radio station who somehow got to broadcast this show – but my spidey sense says it’s not actually what went down. This is a ruse to get the tape machine into the venue, I am willing to bet money on it. So, he’s in the venue but to keep up appearances he does station ID’s periodically (almost every song) and because of his cheap recorder, the station id he does just sounds like a loud sonic swoosh (thankfully they are real short). Zep are in good form but fight constantly against poor PA which makes for a very interesting evening and a unique tape. One thing I want to point out is that because of the weird PA problems, it seems Page is getting much more feedback than normal and it causes him to sound much more psychedelic and I actually enjoyed that very much. • Audience 8.5 - We all are aware that this tape is not spectacular quality, it does what it needs to do and that is present a document of a great evening for Led Zeppelin. It’s quite magical in many respects, and really I think the quality is not disappointing considering some re-mastering of the tape has been done and it helps. Still this is worth having for history and for how good the band is playing.
