MARILLION – Poughkeepsie 1987 (2CD)

FM Broadcast 9.3 – This recording is a little hot, it’s slightly overloaded mainly in the upper mid to high band to the point of slight sizzle on the cymbals…but because it’s so clean overall, with good mid and low end, that seems to be mitigated as the ears adjust. So, it’s great, yes a fine FM broadcast, but in the pantheon of FM broadcasts maybe the engineer got a little excited…OR maybe it’s not the case but more a situation where, when taping from a radio source, you sometimes get artifacts (might be static interference, might be signal compression, might be a whole range of things) and here you have some in the form of slightly overloaded high end.  Don’t let it dissuade you though…it’s still great stuff.
