Audience 8.6 – The first thing you want to do when you begin to play this is skip the first song. The taper is bustling around trying to get into his seat, the tape deck microphone is buried deep within his clothing and the sound mix on stage is still being dialed in…all told this track is unlistenable. What happens next is miraculous – the sun begins to shine in the darkness! We now have a recording to enjoy, and it is enjoyable. It’s not Randy, but look, what was asked of Bernie was impossible and he did a remarkable job filling in while they searched for a permanent replacement. I admire Bernie Torme and do not ignore the live recordings of him with Ozzy (not many are very good unfortunately). This is one of the better sounding tapes out there from this period.
